A Chicago-based architect and designer, Patricia believes that architectural solutions can be, and ought to be, social solutions. In her talk, she emphasizes the importance of community involvement in the design process and shows how such designs have transformed urban areas around the City of Chicago.
Patricia Saldaña Natke is President and Design Principal of UrbanWorks, an award winning architecture, planning, and interior design firm in Chicago. Pat is responsible for the visionary design direction of the firm. She has a passion for cities and neighborhoods, especially the most vulnerable sections of cities and their populations. She is a firm believer that well designed spaces and places which allow cultural exchange underpin urban transformation.
Pat has served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago Graduate School of Architecture, Facilitator at Archeworks, and a Part Time Professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology School of Architecture for the Advanced Design Studios.
Pat was named one of “Five 2014 Emerging Designers” in Crain’s Chicago, and listed in “50 Designers Shaping Chicago” by NewCity in 2014.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx
