Location: Kurla, Mumbai
The project aims to critically examine understandings of urban informal settlements in Mumbai and the role of new architectural development, in order to unsettle and unpick some of the underlying assumptions that may contribute to the marginalizing effects of the discourses. The aim is to develop a model wherein the new projects in the city benefit not only the prime users but also the context. The site selected for intervention is a fringe between the new development of the Phoenix Marketcity mall and the adjoining informal settlements.
