Archived Reaction: Jesus Freak by DC Talk Reaction 

'Jesus Freak' was definitely one of the greatest Christian CDs ever made, every song on it is extremely catchy, and the line " the king took the head of this Jesus Freak" was a reference to John the Baptist.

I’m a big Christian music fan, especially of the rock flare. Disciple, Fireflight, Kutless, Manafest, Petra, Pillar, Project 86, Red, Seventh Day Slumber, Skillet, Stryper, Lacey Sturm (former singer of Flyleaf), Switchfoot, Thousand Foot Krutch, Whitecross, Wolves At The Gate are all great artists to check out.

This song is timeless. Another great one of theirs is "Consume Me."

All 3 members of DC Talk had great success after DC Talk. Especially Toby Mac… try his song Me without you…

Biggest selling Christian album ever. Several good songs on this album.

My take on the connection between the images and the song is the world is broken and falling apart and people are told to keep their spiritual life to themselves, BUT DC TALK is saying “NO…we are unashamed of Jesus because HE is the way and he’s making our lives better and will fix a broken world if individuals, families, communities, nations, surrender to HIS teachings and way of living” ✝️ Read Luke 1-2 to get the “manger” reference.

The guy doing the rapping is Tobymac he went on to be a successful Christian artist. The colored guy is Michael Tate. He is the frontman to another Christian group Newsboys.

Not sure if anyone can tell, but this song came out in response to "Smells Like Teen Spirit." The Christian music industry was trying to make Christian music cool like grunge was.
