Istituto Europeo di Musica General and Art Director Davide Polovineo ARCHIVIO IEM / Ravel's Archive_ Bolero Maurice Ravel, Bolero for Orchestra London Symphony Orchestra Cond. Valery Gergiev
Sat with my 2 1/2 year old daughter on my lap and she was able to watch all 19 minutes, which is unusual. A great video to show how all the parts of the orchestra work together. An inspiration to young musicians.
Bolero was introduced to me at 7...i would lay in front of the high fie and close my eyes and feel and dream about a long camel caravan going across the dessert with the king and rich queens and soilders...i am 62 now and still close my eyes and see the same and feel every single instrument it is one of the most beautiful sexy pieces of music....will always love it....to the nerve endings love it......
ecstatic! i love how at the end the musicians realise that they pulled off something extraordinary under the direction of this brilliant conductor and they know that their performance will be remembered and enjoyed many years into the future
Of all the best presentations of Bolero I’ve heard in my decades of living, this is the very best ever. These musicians and each of their masterful command of their instrument is glorious. The nuances that Gergiev has brought to each passage is remarkable!
Seems like Valery GERGIEV is one of the best conductors actually. This is one of the best Bolero version I've never heard. Claudio ABBADO recorded a top one with the LSO in the 80s on DG.
Imagine being apart of that orchestra!, i literally lost myself in the piece, that theme Being passed around the various instruments...so much emotional color.
lol I was hoping it was true :) I`m not a big lover of classical music but must admit the time flew by watching this masterful performance. It`s so inspiring to watch so many talented musicians who have toiled many a year to get to that stage, literally :). Thanks e s much for the info. Most sincerely JF ( UK )
I agree re the synchronised remark. Yet put the musicians in separate rooms and this interaction would not be possible. They literally have to be close and at hand for all of them to gel. This may seem a little far fetched but its a fact that has been proven. I will try my best to find the video for you to watch as its very interesting !!!!
Man, unbelievable performance. The conductor and Orchestra appeared to be possessed in this, one of the best versions of Bolero that I have seen or heard in my 60+years of life. 😢😅 What a long, strange trip it's been Keep on truckin' 😎✌️
+Ablimit Ablet I agree with you for I don't believe you'll will find a better version any where. The look on Gergiev's face tells all for he was certainly a happy bunny after that performance.
Bravo, Magnificent Splendid performance. Such a great Conductor. I now wish I’d stayed in Orchestra in middle school, the flow of the instruments as they intertwined was spectacular
Thank You for making my Saturday morning great!!....love this so much, brings my mind peace, imagination, creativity and an overwhelming feeling of Bliss........wonderful, Excellent!! BRAVO>>>>>>
Não toquei,em nada e o nada se transformou em ouvi tudo na leveza onde vossas mãos se transformou. Derrotados os insensatos. E abriram os corações. Onde tocou a alma.nkk
Ravel is ... Great! Bolero : So delicate ans So sexy! :) Fantastic orchestra led by an extraordinary Valery Gergiev, Great Master !!! Thank you so much.
As a person that appreciates music and particularly the complexity or lack there of I view this video often. First the compositions of various intstrumental contributions is of particular interest. Instead of just hearing the overall composition as a groove in a record or digitized megabyte, you see all the individual contributions to the over "composition" envisaged by the composer. Can you imagine the thought that goes into a basoon being the lead while the violins only pluck away. I like the Toronto version because the snare drum becomes the center of attention as the backdrop (not the whole percussions section though they are essential). The Beach Boys recorded "I Get Around" as the A side of a 45 while "Don't Worry Baby" was the B side...which I consder more musical Appreciate the overall composition but also the self-discipline of the sections and also the divisions in each section. The Whole is the Sum of its Parts.
