This is the only thing that ever helped me visualize the process... the sheer power of potatoes

THANK YOU!! This has helped me more than any other video, by FAR. I've understood the shaping PROCESS, but I did not gather the info of the basic shape you want to start with, and the angles to hit, etc. I've a lot of unhelpful stuff, but this broke the basics down beautifully. Cannot thank you enough!!

Hey! I love how your videos are so detailed. I found other videos too, but none are detailed, they just start from the middle. I rlly like that you started off from a typical simple nodule and went on one step after the other. Great explanation, love it, would make more for other techniques

This is exactly the info I was looking for: a simple, visual explanation -- thank you!!

Thank you very much for your excellent explanation! I learned about Levallois in a pod ‘our prehistory’. I had no idea how much skill and knowledge is needed to create points and flakes…

Students, tomorrow for class remember to bring a potato and a knife. We will be making Neandertal tools.

So, did they get one point chipping all of those parts?

Thanks for this video, it is great! I sav Bruce Bradley using this technique once, he prepared the preparation flaking of the core using the chapron de geandamme as well. He also would not abrade the platform before striking off a flake. It this your impression of the levallois technique as well?

Yes that’s right. The chapeau seems gendarme is optional but the platforms are rarely if ever abraded.
