Unfortunately, with the Arcteryx Beta AR pants new design the side zips are no longer full length and are now split into upper 'thigh vents' and a short lower zip below the knee. This makes them impractical for any field situation where you need to put them on over big mountaineering or ski boots. So I went with Rab Khangri 3L gore-tex pants, their two-way side zips are true full length so you can put them on even while locked into skis or snowshoes.
I want to use these for bicycle riding in the rain. They seem extremely durable which is important to me. Do you think they would be too thick or too hot to be used in such a manner?
