This thing has been more irritation and disappointment than usual. Instructions didn’t show where there’s supposed to be a fill line in one of the duplicate sections so I assumed that the line that was placed under the hinges for whatever reason was it. Not so and I flooded my countertop and two cabinets once it started to overflow. That was garbage design and documentation right there.
Once I put got ice cubes and the “cooling pad” out of the freezer, trying to move the stuck ice cubes out of the way on the bottom risked another spill. The process reeked of cheap.
So what I got out of it was some less-than-Arctic, uh, “chill” in a very small area about 3 1/2 feet wide. Yes, I actually had to take half foot off to describe it. As a bonus, it shot out water vapor from the get-go. I refused to put about an inch of water into the air and now have a window open. The extra vapor should blow out the windows, but I am certain there is more than enough water to help some mold start on the walls.
If you work in a very small office space and have dry weather, it IS a decent cooling gadget, especially if you want to get cooled off on your upper body. It’s not outright noisy, but unless you’ve got it on a very minimal setting, you’re going to notice something cheaply spitting out water vapor. The motor doesn’t sound like it will be defective for a bit. For the fact I should eventually change the cooling pad to get rid of mold, I am not willing to to risk putting black mold on the walls. If I were in the marketing department, I might just call this “Ha Ha Stupid American Cooler”. I’m off to get some sleep, but now that there is a lot more water in the air it’s muggy. If you really do want a reasonable solution in a very small place that gets cleaned one or two nights a week you can deal with the future mold, otherwise, just leave your refrigerator open. It takes a lot less preparation. Sorry, manufacturer, but your designer was an idealist and Arctic is an ovetstatement. Think welcoming refrigerator at best.
