Purchased: August 2023 - still works GREAT!I ru-vid.comUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn live in a studio and during the summer it gets scorching hot - really old building with no ac units. I can’t express how EASY it was to install. This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment. I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

…Apparently with that unit, you’re supposed to wait 3-5mins after putting the water in before turning it on cause the way it works, is there’s these absorbent paper things inside it that need to absorb the water. All it technically is, is just a fan blowing through 10 or so sheets of wet paper stuff. You also need to always open it when you first get it & make sure all the paper things are in their correct slots because some displace during transit/storage. Apparently waiting that 3-5mins after putting the water in makes a bigger difference, which makes sense once you realise how it works. People tend to say it’s not the greatest but for around $30, for a bedroom or something, they’re worth the $30. Remember to keep as many internal doors closed as possible, including cupboard doors & keep curtains closed for best results with any cooling unit. Hope this helps someone 🤗💜

Also it is recommended to unplug your fridge. It is well documented that the fridge is warming the surrounding air from its compressor. But better, unplug everything and wait for the swamp cooler to make its thing. In 2-3 days you’ll feel the chill.

I literally said to myself, "Who cares about that?" On hot humid days who wants even more humidity or mugginess. I don't know if they all work this way, but if so I'll probably pass.. I need to cool off two kids rooms. Might just need to buy small traditional AC units.

I just heard her say she didn't read the instructions first. LOL The instructions were clearly written and gave a lot of good tips - plus, they actually position the device appropriately as a personal space cooler, not a full-room air conditioner. It does not promise to cool an entire room anywhere on the packaging or in the included product literature. It's also tiny - anyone who thinks it would cool an entire room should actually think about the math for 4 seconds. Even the big air conditioners that vent the generated heat to the outdoors are only designed to cool a 120 sq. ft. room (so why anyone would expect something smaller than a 6-pack of beer to cool a whole room is quite puzzling and comical actually). It's amazing and absolutely delivers on the design goals and marketing messages. I opened mine today and soaked the filter as instructed and filled the tank with cold ice water. It is keeping me super cool. During a heat wave in Europe, no less. My house has attic eaves that collect heat like you can't even believe and I'm working upstairs with only my Arctic Cool (2 feet away) and it's like being in an air-conditioned room. The hum is very consistent so as not to be distracting. I think it's absolutely wonderful. My elderly mom is visiting in a few weeks and I bought it just to cool the personal air space around her and now I will use it in my home office, too. I even sat outside on my EXTREMELY hot patio and was able to work comfortably for a couple of hours. I refilled it with ice cubes a few times. It's absolutely not [only] "like a fan" once you cool the water below air temperature (ice water generates cooler air - it's not rocket science). Put ice cubes in the water (also mentioned in the apparently unread instructions) and you'll see what it's really capable of doing! Definitely a good buy. I saw other places where people said the filter got dirty fast. Well, I plan to take it out and let it dry between uses to avoid mold (also fairly obvious). The instructions say if you plan to not use it for awhile, you should empty the water tank and let it run for 4 hours before storing it. This is presumably to avoid the formation of mold. I also read that people complained about leaking - mine does not leak - but there was condensation forming when I was using it outside in 90-degree heat. Inside, there's no external moisture. I think it's a great product! Mine has the teal/turquoise light on right now and it's very peaceful. Glad I bought it. In this video, when she says, "Maybe you should put ice in it," it made me laugh. Because that's exactly what the unread instructions explain to do. And it's what I did and it's amazing. Even if the "evaporative cooling" technology doesn't work (I don't know if it does or doesn't work), if you blow ice cold water across your face and torso, it will obviously be cold and feel wonderful. Oh, and if you measure the temperature within your personal space, and not using a wall thermometer far away like in the video, it dropped the temperature by over 5 degrees for me. It's super cool - and super cool. Love it.

Hello from Australia🇦🇺. I think that evaporative coolers are a great option for those not wanting to spend the big bucks on a air conditioner and electricity bills. From my expierience they will not cool entire rooms on really hot days but will definately make you feel more comfortable if you keep it topped up with ice and cold water and have the stream of air coming out of the unit pointed at you. Thankyou for uploading your video i think its really nice how you bought this unit to help your daughter stay cool and made this video as a family. Best wishes. Peaceout! ✌️
@anarchomoto1152
@anarchomoto1152 3 года назад
What most people don't realize about evaporative coolers is that you can't just recycle the same air through the cooler - as in pulling the room's air through it continuously. You have to bring dry air into the cooler for it to work right, and you can't do that by drawing the already humidified air into the cooler over and over. That said, I have yet to see these really small coolers work to any degree because the material that they draw the air through doesn't retain moisture like it should to make the evaporation process work as intended.

That's not what they show on the TV, and those devices are not even designed to fit like a window opening. The thing just is, the swamp coolers (like this machine in the video is) do not work for cooling air. Or they do marginally, but with unforgivable drawbacks like humifying the room air beyond recognition. Actual air conditioners in fact DEhumify the air because of the refrigeration cycle.
@anarchomoto1152
@anarchomoto1152 2 года назад
@@matsopelle Do you believe everything you see on TV? Evaporative coolers are designed to suck hot dry air in and blow the humidified air into an enclosed space that is vented as far away as possible from the cooling device, whether it is sucking that air through a window, a doorway or a hole through the wall. A TV advertisement made to make the device look as attractive as possible doesn't change that. And they absolutely DO work for cooling the air IF you live in a dry environment. Probably half the houses in southern Idaho use them.

Even if you put ice in an evaporative cooler they don't work worth a sh@#$%. The only thing they are good for is super dry climate outdoors to cool you off a little bit. Indoors they don't work. They do make central roof-mounted evaporative coolers for homes in dry climates that work off solar panels but they won't cool your house down more than a few degrees. It's a joke is what it is, they been around since the '20s for outdoor cooling in states like Arizona. Patent-pending they say, LMAO!

I live in Florida. The last think we want is more moisture in the air as that is what the AC does. Removes the moisture as this is what gives you true cooling. Having cool misted water blown at you can make you feel cooler but it adds moisture to the room, (which is not how an AC works) as it removes the moisture.

To expect it to work that way shows you don't understand how evaporative cooling works. If it's going to do any good, it must draw dry air through the wet pad. The evaporation of water from that pad will slightly cool the air temperature as it passes through the pad. If the ambient air is too humid, it won't do much better than a fan. Even so, this will only have the effect of making the air feel cooler that comes out of the cooler itself. You can't expect it to cool a whole room. At best, if the fan blows directly on a person and there is some evaporative cooling happening, it will feel better than if the person only had a fan blowing on them.

Actually, it only shows that the people who make & market these useless junkboxes are conning people & getting away with fraud. BTW, it isn't any kind of evaporative cooler, because those condense the evaporated water out of the atmosphere & route it to a drain system, while this contraption actually adds moisture to the air. And further, this unit's advertisers claim that it IS an air conditioner.

@@randolphpatterson5061 google "evaporative cooler" and "swamp cooler." You clearly don't know what you're talking about. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m3PxzQwVOyo.html The "condense the evaporated water out of the atmosphere" stuff you're talking about has nothing to do with how typical swamp coolers work. Sounds more like you are confusing one of the parts of a conventional air conditioning unit with an evaporative cooler. They are NOT THE SAME THING. Not sure what is so hard to grasp about this for you or the person who uploaded the video. Swamp coolers literally pump water over pads, normally some type of dense cardboard material (Cel-DEK) or a fiber material like Aspen pads, and then pull hot air through the wet pads and into the person's house. They add moisture to this hot air air and only work in low humidity climates because they cool via the evaporation of the water (as hot air flows through the pad) cooling the air. Again, people who live in humid climates aren't familiar with this kind of stuff so often erroneously mistake these type of coolers for other things and then call them "junk" out of pure ignorance.

@@randolphpatterson5061 P.S. Show me on the box where this is marketed as an AIR CONDITIONER. It says "air cooler." On the side, it even says the way it works is through "evaporative cooling." There is a difference between "conditioner" and "cooler" that the reviewer and you don't seem to grasp. Just because she keeps calling it "air conditioner" doesn't mean that is how the company markets it. Read what is on the box. Over and over again, it says "air cooler." In order to cool the entire room you have to exchange heat from one place to another. Your home AC unit takes heat from the home and moves it outside the home through an exchange process. This thing might exchange some put even if it did it would just be moving it to another place in the same room. The evaporation of water cools the unit but is offset by introducing moisture into the room which in turn makes humans more uncomfortable. So, except for the cool breeze directly in front of the machine you are worse off. Just the machine itself working introduces more heat into the room for a net loss.

That's what we would call a small swamp cooler very popular here in Texas they only really work in the desert areas. What it supposed to do is suck in the hot air from outside and then cool it through these bads that are constantly have water running through them. The downside to them is they don't work if it's raining outside or if there's any moisture in the air . Places like Arizona West Texas they're pretty popular because of the desert dry heat.

"I dunno why it's hot in here." Try unplugging the TV. Lol TVs generates a lot of heat. Adding humidity won't cool down your room...If you mist yourself and aim the fan at yourself it'll feel cooler, but this device has nothing in it that will cool a room. In fact, the energy being used and the friction generated by the fan blades actually warms the room. The time of day is the reason the temperature dropped. A real ac works by compressing a gas and then releasing that pressure. Pressurizing the gas generates heat which is blown out of an exhaust system to a different area, then when the gas is depressurized it becomes cold, and that is what's blown out. It's the same idea as how those air duster cans get really cold. This is due to the pressure of the gas decreasing.

I'm here because I'm laid up with injuries & my neighbors bought me this unit for the meantime, until they can install a window unit in my room. It only took a few minutes to have it running, and it's been on for less than five minutes. The air output seems a bit cooler than the surrounding air, but not by very much, perhaps not at all. I'm not yet aware of how to tend to it, but I'm concerned that it uses up water which has to be added periodically to a reservoir atop the unit. Part of a normal AC unit's job is to remove water from the room air, not the opposite. My neighbor & I had already talked about the recent appearance of these devices on the market. I told them I'd looked at them online & had my doubts, but to my surprise they got one for me anyway. As of now, it's been running nearly ten minutes, and judging by the seat of the pants it doesn't seem to be putting out air that's any colder than the room air. They mentioned there's a removable part, which I suppose would pass for a heat exchanger, that needs to spend time in the freezer between uses. So I have to assume that this is a requirement for true colder output temperatures. So far, I'm thinking fraud, false advertising, marketing scam, et cetera. And by nature there will probably be a preponderance of money stolen from the pockets of the financially strained, who aren't well-off enough to afford a legitimate AC unit. The rich robbing from the poor, in other words. This kind of deception seems to be rather contagious, since for all the world this video seems to be a mere unboxing that misidentifies itself as a review. Which is why I'm giving this video a thumbs down & then reporting it.

After a 2 day test run, they were boxed and sent back...No one knew any better when these were used in the 60s...as a kid we had 2 at our lake house. Being an occasional get away, they didn't grow mold and I guess they help a little, they were HUGE...but the tech is older than Moses, and these pint size ones are a total joke...trust me, just send me your money and Ill mail you a back of potting dirt...At least you can grow a potato or something..

I find it works well on the lowest setting and because it is within arm's reach I can reach over to adjust the fan speed whenever the hot flash strikes. I tap it twice to go to the second setting, never needing to use the highest setting because it works so well. I take it room to room and plug it in, but it must be kept on a flat surface and not be tipped while transporting or the water will pour out. My 5yo grandson loves it and loves the cool nightlight it has. I live in PHOENIX and it has been my best friend this summer! It is very quiet on the lowest settings, so it lulls you gently to sleep and doesn't interfere while watching television or chatting on the phone. The light on the unit will flash twice to indicate it needs more water. I find one bottle of water will last around 4hrs on low, and,of course, the higher the fan setting, the more water is uses. It is REALLY refreshing air! I LOVE IT!! Hope this helps! God Bless 💙 TIP: The unit's filter is DRY when you first plug it in to use it, so pour a bottle of water in the well, turn it on low and be patient while the filter becomes COMPLETELY SATURATED before you decide that it is ineffective. Also, I just got an email from a company offering this EXACT unit for $179, but on SALE for $89, and calling it Air Cooler!!! DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!! Can you say RIP OFF!!???!! The EXACT SAME unit is available at Walmart and other places for under $40 and even below $30. Got mine for $29!!! Beware of scammers!! This unit is GREAT, but definitely NOT worth more than $40 at most!! Stay cool 😁

Actually we close off the bedroom during the day, leave it running, and the room is cooler than without. Granted the room does not receive direct sunlight. And we live in S. Africa along the southern coast. A temperate zone where the weather is always almost near perfect. The family is very sensitive to humidity and while it seems logical this would make for more humidity we don't notice. We even use Solar energy for most of our major appliances, so this cost us nothing to operate and adds great "white noise" for good sleeping. PS: we add a pinch of salt to the ice/water mixture. Speeds up the cooling process.

Why is it a scam? I think it would actually work with ice and not ice water in it. Will blow cold air I'm sure. Ice lasts longer.

Laz Whoops sorry premature "reply" ☺️ It's NOT it's purpose to cool the room, but a 'spot' cooler, for close personal cooling. Enlighten yourself, google Evaporative Cooling. It works.
@johnlopperman2161

@SSS It has NOTHING to do w/ heating or cooling the ROOM, it's a PERSONAL evaporative cooler, mean ONLY to provide local cooling to user.

Thank God for existing the "review" word and Yt review videos. I just cant imagine how many shitty products I would have bought in my life, if there wasn't videos like this, to see what a terrible things they produce and sell.

I put a small ice pack in the reservoir with refrigerated water. I'm freezing. The ice pack is a small waterproof pack you can either freeze or microwave for home therapy for a small space, like your arm. It says do not place directly on skin because it will be ice cold (or very very hot if heated). So since the ice melted, as ice does, I carefully placed the pack into the side and added 'fridge water. I am freezing. I am too cold. It is right beside me, bedside. Hm. I like it.

nailzius the ads say it’s good for 100 - 300 sq ft. and this room is about 200 or a little over so actually your comment is a fail! Noob.

Yikes Yikes Are you insane?! - It’s the size of a postage stamp. - They’ve got heat lamps, heated salt rocks and all kinds of electronics in that room. -The unit had NO compressor, no exhaust It’s a “personal” fan to put in front of your face at a desk. If you take it and try to cool off a room then you’re a gullible consumer. “Like, comment, subscribe??” Video friggin fail.

AND it ONLY works in certain areas. If you live in the east like Florida it will be useless, if you live in the west it will work great.
@nafkar89
@nafkar89 4 года назад
@@ryantoomey611 There's also a whole process to get the most out of it. You're supposed to use ice cubes in the water. You can also remove the filter, soak it in water and then pop it in the freezer for about 30 minutes before putting it back in. That'll give the best results. I once made a small personal cooler out of pykrete in an Ice Cream Box and a CPU Fan attached to a battery. Used it to cool my head when sleeping cuz my room was a furnace at the time without any AC. Worked pretty well for a personal cooler, at least enough to put me to sleep.

The bedroom dropped by one degree because hubby turned down the house thermostat by one degree (from 78 to 77) right before you all checked the temp in the bedroom.

@melbourne-heat.69-71 2 года назад
After you put the water in you let it soak into the filters for about 5 minutes and then you turn it on for best results you could put the pan in the freezer until it's has a little bit of ice on the pan the pan does come out stick it back in turn it on.. you can definitely feel the difference still want it that way..🌬🌬🌬🌬🌬🌬🌬🌬🌬🌬😎
