Compare this gig to a current one and you'll tell the change Alex Turner's voice (and Arctic Monkeys' style in generall) has experienced. Even though the new ones are great, I miss the good old times, hope I'm not alone.
@@tylerrjoseph No way how could a the voice of a 19 year old non-trained singer change to when he has been through thousands of concerts and vocal training as well as literally becoming a 35 year old man.
For those asking it was shot at Barfly club (now known as Arts Club); I worked there at the time and was tasked with standing in front of the camera to the back and left of the venue to "try and stop people falling into the camera". May have had more luck standing on a beach telling the tide to piss off. Great show though
That's how you do a gig. Small club, smoke and whiskey in the air, good live music, no cell phones in the crowd, dancing with your buddys and the hot chicks. And that's it.
This is absolutely mental, there's so much going on. My favorite, tho, are: - Matt wearing a sailor's cap - Andy Nicholson (I think that's him) spitting at 0:02 - Alex telling the production to raise his mic volume at 0:27 - Matt's face at 0:36
I never realized how few comments and views this video had. This is literally the video that got me into the band and it's so underrated. Many thanks to the uploader.
Seriously I don't know why ? They just can't say that's because they're older... Metallica, Anthrax, etc those guys are like 60's and they're playing speed af To play that song slower take off all the subtance of it
The only band I would give all my late mother,s legacy away to see! Simply Alex Turner looks like a young George Harrison he said in print that the Quiet Beatle is his hero. He,s mine too!
How I long for the scenes he sings of! 18, barely legal, and at the right age to be able to experience the mid 2000’s indie resurgence wave guys such as this lead!
Not everyone fangirling only because of his face though some of them is actually listens to him . And yeah this song is the one which got me into AM haha
Their main inspiration were The Strokes (check out their debut album *"is this it")...* Other than that, surprisingly they also listened to a lot of hip hop!
SO FROM 1984!!! Well this is the most mental version I've heard. It's was this at the cavern? Caralho mano, esse vídeo é muito bom Nobody knows wich Orange amp is using?
I'm gonna be honest even if you prefer old AM I think saying someones old work is better is probably one of the most insulting things you could say to any type of artist whether it be music or not. People don't stay static, they change. Music should be a reflection of a person and how they feel so it's only natural that their style evolves with them. To say somebodies old work is objectively better is to say they haven't changed or improved over the years.
@@daniel_cl4rke I agree that they have changed a lot, I just think they evolved in a negative way. AM (the album) is was different than the debut, but also much worse imo.
