Excellent video! Yeah finding the thickness is extremely tricky. Even calipers doesn't really help because they got squished and are thicker on the outer sides and thinner in the middle. So you have to kinda guess the nearest thickness. It even gets worse when it comes to the side where the GPU die is. If the pads are too thick, the thermal paste makes no contact with the GPU anymore and it overheats.
This was therapeutic to watch. 😄 Good job. Is there a reason why you didn't you change the pads on the front or did you do it off camera? Anyways, I can't wait to try this out on my 3090 Suprim X.
@@DaPoets my hotspot was at 102 degrees before and now it’s around the 80’s range keep in mind I do have the founders edition 3080 TI I did the mod to it in April of this year it was will worth doing it I just can’t believe they would give us a product and give us cheap pads
My 3090 Strix watercooled both sides. average vrm at max load in the 60s celsius... long gaming sessions, was hitting the 90s with stock air cooling....
Did the same. Have the STRIX GAMING OC 3090. GPU temp never reaches 50°C, max was 47°C. GPU Hotspot never reached 60°C. VRM is around 50°C and the memory also 60°C for me.
Did you mean memory? VRM means "voltage regulator module" and is what powers the GPU, the SoC inside the GPU and the memory. Or maybe VRAM and VRM sound too similar for me. I am not a native speaker of English.
Did your temps get better? Debating on getting this brand vs my Gelid that I've been using for years. Theres also another new brand that looks pretty good for the price call " GHD HEAT ". They sell a non-branded " AAIRHUT" thermal pad kit. You get a 4 pack of 13W/m.K 100 X 100MM in 0.5/1.0/1.5/2.0 for $18.99 regular but I saw them drop the price to $16.99 yesterday on Amazon. I'm going to wait for the price drop again and at least give them a shot.
