Never thought I would watch horse review in a video game... I never really cared about the cars in gta, but the horses in red dead 2 is something different.
THWM 1116 same can be said for any horse in red dead. Its all preference. The slowest horse isn’t that far behind the fastest in top speed maybe a horse length away.
@@lethalassassin1754 I'm not sure about that my old horse was slow but overall fine, my new horse runs away at the first sight of danger and its driving me insane I so wish I watched her video on the horse first. Not making that mistake again 😂
It’s not really that slow when the faster horses get tired you blow right past them or when the faster horses buck off their owners you blow past them while they fight the wolves. Do the two races as soon as possible to fill the last acceleration bar. I raced the train from Valentin kept up and past it just fine all the way to St denies. The fewer acceleration blocks just means you get up to speed faster. Then if you hit the button in stride you just stay there all day. There’s a reason why bounty hunters use them.
Ok i want a female bay roan bc i kinda don't like the male do bounty hunters even carry a female war horse or do they just carry a male only bc i have bewn hunting them and i keep getting male's is there a chance to get a female or not?
My fully bonded Ardennes throw me to the wolves then after surviving that ,throw me to a cougar I killed the four wolves and the cougar but then road straight to the nearest stable to sell it .i caught a standard Appaloosa near tumbleweed ,the white faced one, who has not bucked me off with snakes, cougars, and two wolf attacks .
There is wild Andalusian added when Red Dead Redemption 2 when updated last year. Its health and stamina is same with Rose Grey Andalusian and Strawberry Roan Ardennes but has higher accelation. I own Perlino Andalusian more than ones but its little bit smaller than Ardennes and Hungarian Halfbred. It's like same size with American Standardbred if you compare it even if its not. Only larger than Missouri Fox Trotter, Turkoman, Morgan, Tennessee Walker and Kentucky Saddler.
I agree Arthur - Ardennes John - thoroughbred Dutch - Dutch warmblood Hosea - Turkoman Bill - Suffolk punch Micah - Missouri fox trotter Charles - Hungarian halfbreed Lenny - Mustang Sean - American standardbred Javier - American paint
@@guy4142 I know, I was just picking what horse is right for them, dutch looks silly on his Arabian and bill doesn't fit in his ardennes, because he's fat not muscular, Charles having a Hungarian halfbred fits his frame and personality, cause the Appaloosa looks small on him. Though I think Arthur fits more on the dutch warmblood too and Hungarian halfbred but the ardennes kinda fits him more, he's muscular like the horse.
I accidentally killed my horse (first time one of my horse died) on the exact jump you made at the end of the video (it wasnt an Ardenne), and that is when I first learned that Arthur cries when a level four bonded horse dies. With all the small details they put in the game, that is probably my favorite.
I use my Ardennes when I’m hunting HUGE game like legendary animals, bears and big cats. I’ve noticed that my strawberry roan isn’t afraid to ram into bears! When I’m in a toughie this guy just beats the crap out of the animals hunting me! Possibly the best hunting horse.
I absolutely love this breed! They're really calm, have good health and stamina and look very good. I named mine Nessy, because she's a biest you wouldn't wanna mess with ^^
Fun fact: irl Ardennes are really powerfull work horses but they are not really tall! The ardennes aren't taller than 1,65m (less than 5,5 ft) wich might be why it looks so bulky in game. They look great still And in Belgium, Ardennes are use mostly in forest to pull trees where heavy machines can't go. This is why they are so maniable and small.
@@shane4429 you sure it's an Ardenne? They specificaly are supposed to be 1,65m at the tallest. Brabançon breed looks a lot like the Ardenne but they can be taller.
You are incredibly good at these overviews, you clearly know what you are talking about, your mic is clear and your voice is nice to listen to. Trust me, if you keep this up you'll be at 50k in no time :D ♥
Great series. I've been struggling because the "best" horses don't seem to fit my playstyle very well. Your series helped me figure out that I need a WAR horse that lets me blunder into combat and predators. No more spooky race horses for me! Thanks! ❤️
Rachel Davis not to offend you, but you should have a race and war horse just incase like a fox trotter (avaliable at scarlett meadows stable at chapter 4) and ardennes. You can take the race horse if you are gonna travel long distances and take the war horse when you are certain you’ll get into a fight. Just my tip though so have fun playing!
@@nixility2139 I have a full stable. The problem is I'm easily distracted. I may start off on my race horse to cross the map and get sucked into a gunfight. Or I plan to go take out a gang hideout with a war horse and end up running for my life. I've had good luck with work horses (pretty fast and fairly steady) or my Andalusian. She's not the fastest, but she can take alot of damage and keep going. It's all about play style I guess.
@@racheldavis5229 Or just get a Turkoman = Race&War Horse (Story Mode or Red Dead Online). Or if you are on Red Dead Online get a high tier Breton, War&Work Horse with super good stats.
Guys, horses stats other than hp don’t matter, speed is a negligible 10 sec difference between a Morgan and Arabian when speeding through the map and my thoroughbred lets wolves and bears give it handshakes at level 4 bonding. Use the horse you like as long as it’s hp is above 5-6
I love these videos so much! The Ardennes horses are my favorite! I have a Strawberry Roan Ardennes named Clifford (the big red horse) and an Iron Grey Roan named Cookie (for cookies and cream hehe)
@Rich Homie Tron lotta big talk for a little pony I have a question does it stay calm hauling a bear pelt while being chased by 6 wolves right at its hooves..... No well then you and your little kiddie horse get outta here
As Arthur, I had the bay roan. I named her Strawberry. It was the horse that Arthur stuck with for me, and I got attached to her very quickly. She was insanely special to me. When she died at the end of the game, her bonding was level 4. I cried a bit, and when I played as John, I thought about buying another bay roan, but decided “no, that was Arthur’s horse.” She and Arthur are happy together in heaven, her casually eating treats and having Arthur scream “LENNNYYYY!” every minute. My ending was horse level bonding 4, with a high honor Arthur that died on the cliff, watching the sunset. That’s what I believe is the proper ending.
In my opinion I think the bad honor ending where you help John is the most realistic ending. Because Micah actually killed Arthur. Also Arthur’s last words were: “Damn us both”which is cool.
Your voice is so beautiful, and I love all the information you pack into such short videos. I would LOVE to see you do a playthrough of both RDR and RDR 2.
I found that the Ardenne had a decent amount of speed. I had to outrun bounty hunters, and found this breed did pretty good. (Quick note: I found the best way to outrun bounty hunters is to get off the main roads and ride across the grassy plains.) Even though my two favorite horses are the Dutch Warmblood you can get when going hunting with Hosea, and the Golden Missouri Foxtrotter, one thing I LOVE about the Ardenne, as opposed to the two previously mentioned breeds, is that if you're ambushed by a cougar or by an npc, it won't buck you off and leave you stranded. I would say the Ardenne is probably one of the best in the entire game. Not super fast, but if you want a purely reliable horse, the Ardenne is just that. I guess the only problem I have with the Ardenne is that they're so bulky. They lack a certain elegance in their appearence.
Fun fact, the ardennes that is featured in RDR2, is not entirely war, but also a war/work hybrid like the Mustang. You can see the feathering of the legs in Ardennes. The original ones used by Nepoleon in his Russian campaign were lot slimmer and muscular, but courageous as now as than.
...kinda love how I didn't pre order the game but still got the Iron Ardennes with my game lol For clarification; I don't know exactly why, but the store had the code in my game package so it was a lucky nab. Game was unopened and unused, no 2nd hand, just luck ;)
I'm gonna guess that you bought a second hand copy and someone didn't use their preorder code? Or maybe when you bought your copy they gave you a preorder one by accident someone cancelled etc
@@jumeauxelaine3960 Nope, the store apparently had the code and everything in the package, either they forgot to take it out of there were some sort of mix-up. I guess I was just lucky ;)
Lucky, I preordered the ultimate edition and didn't get it. I contacted rockstar and they told me that unless I preordered before a certain date I can't get the iron grey coat.
@@kat_8984 Yeah they didn't give me any of the pre-order benefits even when I pre-ordered it. Of course I did try to get that fixed and even showed them proof that I should have gotten it they just set the ticket I put in as solved.
Ardennes are the horses I've used the most over my three playthroughs. there great, reliable horses. Plus all the coats for them are absolutely beautiful.
@Victor Draws agreed, i don't have PlayStation plus and get bored when i see an ad for red dead online... ONE THING ROCKSTAR! THAT'S ALL WE ASK! DON'T JUST ABANDON STORY MODE!!
I love this breed. Currently on my first playthrough and my favorite steed thus far is the Bay Roan. Mine is a mare, I dyed her mane and tail black to match her feathered legs. Her name is Penny Dreadful!
Literally only have 4 Coats half is only buyable unless you bought a unique version of RDR2 you'll get the Iron Grey Coat. Don't get me wrong the Bay roan is definetly a great coat aswell as the Iron grey Im not into the Strawberry one since I didnt had the chance to play and buy since it'a pretty much later in the game. But if we're talking about coats majestic coats it'a gotta be Brown Jack Bills horse that damm muscular Horse Ive been wanting to get since day 1 of my playthrough in rdr2 only to find out it'a lock and unbuyable breaks my heart that beast is majestic.
Technically speaking the true name for this horse breed is Ardennais. Ardennes is the Anglo version of the French/Belgian breed. Though I neither cases is the S pronounced.
Gotta say.. i feel like they did the ardenne dirty when it comes to the coats! The iron grey is very pretty and also a rare coat on them irl. But the strawberry one... i just cant stand it! Thats not even a real colour! All of the other horses in the game look real, but this one looks so fake! There are several different coats they could have choosen from: regular brownbay(most common), chesnut, blackbrown bay, black and several different gray variations. I love the breed irl and wish it was better represented here..
I'm glad I watched this video cuz this is the horse breed that suits me. It's big, intimidating, brave, high health, high stamina and most importantly has good handling unlike the shire which I tried for a while and I hated every second of it. I really like this breed and I wouldn't have known it was the best for me if I hadn't watched this video so thank you very much! I just feel like this is the best value for money horse in the game.
For anyone who want the strawberry one. Try roam around east of strawberry town. I found one just chilling at the side of the street. I am at chapter 4 when I found her.
I have one of these fine horses in real life, he looks more like a mealy dapple bay, I've hade him since 2011 and his name is marston, truly amazing creatures
The Ardennes was my absolute favorite horse for an entire playthrough after using the Black Shire all through my first run. I loved that horse but didn't like the Heavy handling and it's lacking courage stat with wildlife, but I love the giant horses. The Ardennes was the next obvious choice for me. I went through hell and back with mine and even had to revive him at one point after getting too large of a bounty and having to face down 10+ lawmen. I was honestly very scared I was gonna lose him but I was able to kill them all and revive him in time, I immediately gave him the best stimulants I had and rode back to camp to brush and pat him. I'm now on my 5th or 6th playthrough and I found my forever favorite breed, the Dutch Warmblood. Being able to buy the better Chocolate Roan coat in Chapter 2 sealed the deal for me. Now my preferred stable setup is Ardennes, Dutch Warmblood, Missouri Foxtrotter, and I mix up what goes in the 4th slot. Mustangs, Turkomans, Hungarians are all ones I like to use often. I named my Dutch Warmblood Tobacco and he's NEVER bucked me off in my 50 or so hours using him. Bears and Gators startle him a bit but he never takes control from me, even without calming. TLDR: Giant War/Work horses are awesome. You don't need speed when you're riding a juggernaut.
I absolutely love your content. You get straight to the point and its really helpful if I want to choose a new steed. All I have to do is find your channel, watch a short video on a horse I'm looking at and I'm set!
I had a Gray Ardennes named Ryle, she was the best horse! She was the bravest horse I ever seen! Ryle was loyal and never bucked me... When she got killed it hurted so much... I miss my Ryle... Even if a get a new gray ardennes, it will not be like Ryle! She was perfect...
I love that Shire, but it's stupid that it doesn't have considerably more health, given how powerful it is. It should have been on par with the chocolate roan Dutch warmblood, at least.
I used the iron grey ardennes when I got the game, and it was my best friend. RIP Joey, you big badass! I have the strawberry roan for online, named it Opie. Such a great breed. Cheers for this!
JENS X There’s and encounter around strawberry where a man challenges you to a race. Beat him and there you go. But you have to encounter him twice first race will only make you bond faster second is that extra tick in speed.
