When a man concentrates all of his spirit, all of his intensive and ardent faith for his people, culture, land, religion: he can rise above the limitations of this world; he can rise beyond, rise his comrades; rise to restore national faith... "Fascism sees in the world not only those superficial, material aspects in which man appears as an individual, standing by himself, self-centered, subject to natural law, which instinctively urges him toward a life of selfish momentary pleasure; it sees not only the individual but *the nation and the country;* individuals and generations bound together by a *moral law,* with common *traditions* and a mission which suppressing the instinct for life closed in a brief circle of pleasure, builds up *a higher life,* founded on *duty,* a life free from the limitations of time and space, in which the individual, by self-sacrifice, the renunciation of self-interest, by death itself, *can achieve that purely spiritual existence in which his value as a man consists."*
Armin, Chieftain of the Cherusks. Standing on a platform on that statue, you can see a distant bottleneck between two hill ranges in the Teutoburg Forest. The Romans had to pass through that narrow choke point to get back west. They never got back home.
Yes, but the ambush was threacherous, and Armin a sneaky traitor of Rome (he was considered as a son by Varus). Curious that Germany's national hero is a villain, a "niederträchtig". In a fair fight, the Germans would have never ever prevailed on Romans.

@@milkau828 Rome fell because of economic reasons. Over 70% of the whole empire's grains supply came from Egypt. Whenever Egypt rebelled it caused subsequent rebellions _everywhere_ else because every other province had to be bled dry in order for the empire to survive. The split between east and west made it utterly impossible for the west to survive. They had to hire Huns, Vandals, Goths and other barbarians as a last resort to survive. That may have been the last nail in the coffin but wasn't the cause. That Rome overall became poorer was evidenced by the fact that at the beginning of the 3rd century crisis they had to switch from sword (which takes soldiers longer to train with = more expensive) to spears. Despite spears being inferior to swords, as the Roman conquest of Greece demonstrated. All empires are built and destroyed by their economic capacity. All that counted during WW1 and WW2 was how many tons of steel and coal and how many barrels of oil could be produced. Everything else was secondary.
@@franzbiberkopf9179 Why should Hermann be loyal to the kingdom which held him hostage at the age of 9 and planned to invade his peoples land? Which would be the greater betrayal a betrayal to the Romans or Betrayal to his fellow Germans and tribesmen? Hermann chose Germania and our people instead and that is why he is a national hero to us. And also Teutoburg was an extremely impressive feat for our ancestors and most historians agree that it was a rather humiliating defeat for the Romans. Rome was arguably the most powerful empire to ever have existed they had well trained soldiers and had better weaponry and armor compared to our ancestors spears axes and wooden clubs yet somehow we still managed to beat them, which is what makes this tale all the more inspiring the fact that Hermann and his tribesmen were outnumbered and outgunned but still managed to beat the Romans.
If there is contempt in us it cannot be for the merchant, but for those who betray their essence by their abysmal cowardice, by their materialism and pusillanimity. They are really animals, worse than any animals; bugmen. The merchant is only merchantile by virtue of his archetype, by his collective unconscious. He is merely chained to fatal fulfillment of this eternal myth.
they harass me while I attempt to sleep, while I attempt to read, while I attempt to live, they assault me in just about every way they can figure out.
I don't give one shit about if this is facism / nazi inspired. Martial Industrial has become over the years a great inspiration of mine, both in meditation -> visual projecting -> planning -> fighting for a better life in dignity, order and submission to conquer my weaknesses and achieving greatness in this one life I have been given.
