Yes, I was wondering when you would get to play with epd's! To get around the limitations of stock libraries requirements of full double buffering limiting small microcontrollers to lower res displays I had to write my own low level driver software. I'm now able to control a full 400x300 pixel ~4" display from an arduino uno and best yet with some help from ben krasnow of appliedscience was able to implement a lut that allows fast updates of less than a second on single color epds.

Sounds great, do you already have any videos covering this on your channel? I agree that 15 seconds to refresh this small display is simply way too much for most of the applications, but 1s sounds very interesting. The company that makes this displays has a post on their facebook page where they show "Motion series of Inkplates", and they also update the display looks like in about a second or so. Actually, it´s on crowdsupply (Inkplate 6 MOTION) and it says " 11-FPS refresh rate", looks very promising (i.e., looks like something that will be on my channel soon).

I only have a video on the first iteration of my driver without the fast refresh. My display is a 4.2" waveshare. I should do an update video though to explain and demo fast lut refreshing.
