Very well said! My thoughts exactly. The fans of Some bands are also trying to show “hardships” of their fave groups . But Most of the time it’s just “hardships” during trainee days which is very common in Kpop. Not saying that it’s good, but it’s nowhere close to the hardships that BTS went thru. It’s just them against the whole Industry! That’s why I get so annoyed with people who thinks that just because their faves are now getting nominated in US awards, has sold more of their latest albums , gets to perform in Western stages that they already think their faves are now on the same level as BTS. Also downplaying BTS achievements or even giving their faves credit or titles that belongs to BTS. If Army’s correct them then automatically Army’s are called “toxic” or Army’s feels “threatened “ that their faves will dethrone BTS. For me, all Kpop groups are very similar to each other . The same recycled sound. Fancy videos, catchy sounds and hooks but songs most of the time are shallow or have no substance. Sometimes there are some Kpop songs that gets my attention but not enough for me to delve more into the group like what happened with BTS. They Really are a once in a lifetime group. Wether antis accept it or not. Just like how the Beatles spearheaded the British Invasion, BTS led the Kpop wave and maybe domination? No one right now can even he considered a close second to BTS . In my opinion... BTS is on a different level on their own. Other groups are also good but human nature would tell us that if there is a standard of KPop it is BTS. WHY? BTS is a total package. Talent, songs, personality, humility, sincerity, uniqueness and most of all real love and appreciation of ARMY. We are their priority even on special occasion instead of partying with celebreties. Other groups followed the way BTS connects with fans because other groups realized it works. Just like if there was Beatles during our parents time we have BTS now and that's the standard. Quality music! That’s the key. Music that you can relate to easily. BTS discography is a goldmine for those. Not just songs that you can dance to or get pumped with but that’s it. Those songs don’t usually last. It will just always be a passing fancy or a “trend”. We all know that those don’t really have longevity like the Classics!

V made the music he likes expressing his personality he knew going in how it would be received and did not care about ratings and all that other stuff. I for one absolutely love his songs. BTS don’t need all the bells and whistles other groups are vying for they already own e everything. They said it in their song Yet To Come. BTS music are already legendary. They are quoted from, used by scholars etc etc, heck they are even mentioned in textbooks.

It is naive to make comparisons. For this reason, since BTS did not break the mold but rather created and continues to create new ones, comparisons must be avoided and as the video that summons us says, separate BTS from the rest and listen to them without making comparisons because many groups are really good and deserve to be heard and recognized without comparing themselves with others or in any case, not comparing them with a group that exceeds all comparison. BTS, with their lives and RUN BTS shows helped me find many very good Korean musicians and bands.

Love this , I said the same thing. One big factor with BTS is they were allowed to be themselves. I notice so many trying to have the look, characteristics as BTS and it just doesn't work. They need to let them shine in their own light.

Truly agreed with what you said..comparing apples and oranges! The uniqueness of BTS is beyond imaginable...The 7 boys are like angels dropped down from heaven..the real raw deal! They are literally elevated by their faithful n passionate fandom n they truly worked unbelievably hard throughout their singing career n continue to do so post world wide famous!

This is like the other groups of the British invasion to the United States trying to catch up with The Beatles in the 1960s. Only a couple of groups of cheese close success to The Beatles only one I could think of is The Rolling Stones.

​@NewBabyBunnyJeans first you need to realize NJ record label wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for BTS. That's the issue of fans of these 4th Gen groups none of them realize who opened the door for them. Hybe is the house that Bangtan Sonyeondan built and made it easier for all those who came after them to have success. Big Hit Entertainment before they even changed their name to Hybe made sure the group's that came after BTS were different and didn't follow the same mode as BTS. TXT is nothing like their big brothers nor is Enhypen like BTS. New Jean's just followed that flow of being different. Seventeen you can't count because they aren't 4th Gen, they're 3rd Gen and were already an established group before Pledis became a part of Big Hit Ent (now Hybe). So yes New Jean's is doing their thing but they still got privileges from being a Hybe group.

I am exactly the same way. I tried to watch NCT, straykids , Ateez etc. Nothing! They just all sound the same to me. They might have some fun and catchy sound but that’s basically it nothing special really. They all have the same vibe . The “I’m so tough and cool vibe” that sometimes it gets too over the top and cringey for me. I also noticed that the fandoms is these groups are doing the same exact things that Army’s did BTS maybe to make their fandom more “family like”? I’ve never heard of fans giving each other gifts or giving stuff to people on concerts. Only in BTS CONCERTS! even when so watched the BTS concert in theaters , army’s are in the door handing gifts to people . now i noticed fans of other Kpop group are doing the same thing! Nice I guess but for some reason I find it cringey. I don’t know. If you’ve been to a BTS Concert you’ll feel the oneness in the crowd. The positive energy is just so strong. It feels like you all know each other . It’s so amazing! Everyone was so helpful, polite and generous to each other. When I went to watch other Kpop concerts, my friend likes this one group so I went with her (I watched 2 this year so far ), and it just didn’t feel the same way. Yes, it was loud , fun , the usual typical concert feel, but the people ? It’s just a crowd! That’s it! BTS is the first and only group that I’ve ever seen that whenever they receive an award or anything , the first thing out of their mouths is “AMI”. Always fill of gratitude to their fans. I see a lot of Kpop groups are doing that now. BTS are also knows to do vlives after their shows or awards show to thanks their fans - they don’t even attend after parties even if they were invited because they would rather spend it with their fans. Their sincerity i think is what makes people gravitate towards them. You can feel their honesty . Not saying that other groups are not sincere or don’t appreciate their fans . I’m sure they do. However , it seems like there is still something missing. I don’t know. For 4th gen. Groups. I think TXT’s music is the one I prefer more. Not the ear noise music the other bands have. OMG this is exactly how i feel down to every detail. i am not english speaker so it´s hard to put into words, but this is just so simple and well explained. the other boygroups is just so loud and is all about attracting females with some cool moves. they dont care about the music and the message they put out. it´s all about money and fame. they lack originality and feels more manufactured.

Like a one hit wonder isn't gonna do anything for your career especially internationally we have fifty fifty, psy (he has and still is a legend in Korea that hasn't changed) and others as an example because the gp is fickle and unpredictable you need a strong foundation and a strong loyal fanbase. On the other side u have groups like svt, stray kids, nct and a few others selling 3-5M album copies but don't have the streams to match those sales and no stadiums in sight lol like what does that tell you of groups popularity except inflated numbers because of 10+ versions of an album. I want the type of longevity that Coldplay, Beyonce, Metallica, epik high etc have for the tannies and from their close friendship with Coldplay and as the members have told us in recent years they could see that for themselves more easily now in comparison to when they were exploding and rising in fame 2016-2019 when they were filled with uncertainty and doubt about their future but now it's different and they have these long term goals they have set together as a group. So I'm happy that I'm gonna be on this wild journey called life with them for the next few decades lol 😂🫂🫂💜

I resisted BTS 4 many months because I felt I only needed 1 K-pop group ,SF9. I'd only discovered SF9 a few months b4, not being a K-pop fan at all. While I still like them BTS has kinda overtaken my music life.No1 has had me so captivated since PRINCE!! I have been a follower of Prince 45 of my 52 years.Nobody ever came close 2 him 4 me ,even though I really liked Michael in my younger years . BTS has something that is hard 2 find or just non-existent in other groups or even individuals. The fact that their color is purple same as Prince's means something 2 me .🙃Like Prince always said ,there is no such thing as coincidences.

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” as is said for art and the same applies with musical interests. I could say exactly the same for another group that got me into K-pop. We all have different journeys and this takes nothing away from the amazing success and influence of BTS and their solo works.

Hi Argentina, US hear. I may be wrong, but isn't Argentina where Jin traveled to sing Astronaut with Coldplay. If it is, that was so heartfelt when Chris held his arms out to Jin who ran to him. They love BTS so much and army and Coldplay fans were amazing. Coldplay appeared on SNL and wore Astronaut pins and was backed by a choir who all wore Astronaut pins. If you haven't seen it I encourage you to check it out. Thank you and your language was perfect.

We mustn't forget that Jin was the one who insisted on the collaboration between the two groups because of his admiration for Coldplay, I think that's partly why Chris agreed to collaborate with Jin for El Astronauta.

yes that´s true about the vocals sound the same and no one is allowed to stand out on their own like BTS and create their own image. like jimin did with his dance and j-hope did with his music and performance. and also RM and Suga who has very diffrent writing styles and music styles. they have been making a name for themself within BTS and not the rest is following. Jk´s voice that can sing every style of music and V´s Unique jazz style that i have never heard in kpop before. they are breaking every stereotypes. and make everything possible. for BTS everything is possible. other groups like BP have max 2 solo songs each and i dont think any of them will be able to have enough songs to start a solo career on their own and not touring alone. they can´t even keep the fans entertained as it is. i have seen all the negative press on their concerts. but fans dont care dont only want to look at them. all members of BTS has more solo songs than all of them combined.

I personally only Stan BTS but I do like songs here and their too. I do also listen to playlist/albums to see if I like any…Personally have been drawn into groups (because of like a song or two) but I try more of their stuff out and it personally isn’t for me…(although I do like a lot of The Rose song but I discovered them before the collab with Suga and woosung) Edit; their are soooo many songs though, especially from bg, that I almost like. For example Bite Me by Enphyen is soo good until, personally, the chanting, then it deterred me away from the song. I want to like a song from beginning to end not just parts….I feel like chanting has become a far too common thing, Especially in bg…or some dance breaks ruin the entire song, just my personal opinion *bg=boy groups

@@AsianEntertainmentandCulture Yes. BTS was my first introduction to kpop but they didn't grab me in the same way SKZ did. They started as an "experiment" (a leader choosing the band) and have been criticised endlessly for their "noise" music (anyone ever listen to b-side ballads like "Cover Me", "Grow up", "Voices" or "Secret Secret"?), yet they kept working hard with said "noise" music till breakthrough with "God's Menu". Anyway, I digress. I mentioned I first learnt of kpop due to BTS and whilst I still follow them casually, I cannot ever see myself being army. It's not because they are not talented nor worthy of the "paved the way with kpop" acclaim (though some might say PSY did that but not here to argue). I just connect with the music differently. I know all the member names, I appreciate their creativity as individuals and the power behind their lyrics too (I've watched Festas and other content, listened to their solo content too). Yet I also follow other groups because of their different musical style that I prefer more often. Many commenters have implied there is just so much BTS content to follow they have no time or interest in anyone else or that they are not really into Kpop, just BTS only. That is a problem in kpop in general. One has to make the effort to branch out because there is A LOT. I only recently chose to dig deeper into other bands (The Rose, X-dinary Heroes, ATEEZ, TXT) but I suspect most army will say, other than the last group, that none of them really sound like BTS. And thus, I go back to my earlier point, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and we like who we like. The other thing is most groups respect their elders and it's just the media and fandoms who tend to pitch them against each other. I imagine most of the members of many groups face-palming every time a fan war breaks out. There are enough real wars about serious issues in the world that should take priority. Anyway, that's it for my essay. I'm not here or fan wars either. 🙂

You hit the nail on the head. BTS have always written their own music. It's expected of them. TxT were formed under BigHit entertainment using the same formula as BTS. They must write their own music, choose the topic and have it approved. BTS are their big brothers and when TxT would perform at an award show, they would ask for a critique not always liking what they heard. But they continue on. They were debuted in 2018 and received there 1st Best New Artist Award in 2019, in Korea. Then everything hit the fan, COVID. That's one thing that really impacted 4th generation. BTS debuted in 2013 and I remember Ryan Seacrest interviewing them on his radio show maybe 2018 because of an award show? December 31, 2019 BTS were on New Years Rocking Eve from Times Square. They were on a stage surrounded by curtains and Jimin's face when he peeked through. He turned and said you won't believe how many people, it's such a party. They performed 2 songs in below freezing temps and then stood by Ryan for the countdown to 2020.They felt proud and important. Shortly after that stroke of 2020 the world stopped for COVID, but they were already here whereas 4th generation still were waiting for America. It's hard to play catch-up. TxT did play Lollapalooza last year and headlined it this year. You should see how they have learned to control the fans and they put on a nonstop 90 minute performance, never losing their stamina. Even BTS takes a moment here and there. Watch it. They're close just like BTS who lived together, starting with 7 teens in one small bedroom. You fight and grow stronger and closer, a family. I know that besides the COVID setback other groups are given their music, no freedom of expression so it all sounds the same. I don't know what their living situation is. When you're crammed together you learn each other's strength and rely on them as a real team. So timing, musical freedom and family bonding may be why so many have it difficult. I didn't know Seventeen was 4th generation because they debuted 2 years after BTS. Jungkook is even friends with those born in 1997. He and Mingyu recently did each other's dance challenge and were equally great. I know they can't change the makeup of the group after 8 years but I think Seventeen having 13 members is overwhelming. There's often something in a group you can pick out as a cause. Good luck to all but when a company tries to copy what BTS does but don't give them creative freedom they're doomed. They also have to be with their fans always. Talking to them online, writing songs for them letting them know that you realize they're why you're here, and you have to grow that fanbase Before you debut. I highly doubt they're standing on street corners handing out paper flyers saying come to my concert - Free ! You can't duplicate BTS and skip over major ingredients.

Yes they are all trying to' Run before they can walk' mindset. Instead of taking those small steps slowly until they reach the top.

They sell 5M albums because they make like 20 or more version of their albums, and the double of photocards (I think I saw one group with 200 photocards ???) Meanwhile BTS only ever did 4 versions of their abums, sometimes even less (I think BE only had 1 version) you cannot compare the sales of these albums if the difference in the number of versions of the albums is so big. I'm not good at maths but I'm gonna try to explain this, if BTS best selling album sold 5M copies with only 4 versions: 5.000.000 ÷ 4 = 1.250.000 If this is the number of fans that bought the 4 versions available then let's say that BTS makes 20 versions of an album instead of only 4: 1.250.000 x 20 = 25.000.000 😮 See?? It makes no sense to compare the numbers, not until they are on an even playing ground. If I remember correctly a few weeks ago Korea said they would investigate the number of albums and photocards the companies were putting out, and yes, all the companies are gonna be investigated (SM, YG, JYP, Hybe, lol). Another thing, while BTS had 5M sales the streams of their albums matched the sales, 3M or 5M sales with 3B or 5B streams, NOW if you see the so called million sellers nowadays, the data shows like 7M sales and only 300M streams at best for the whole album! That's not good and at the end of the day it's all inflated data. 😕

@beluuzz 5 million is still 5 million, no matter how many versions its accomplished with. God knows I couldn't afford it, but there it is.

​@@raeavilez9936 Yes, yes 5M but only because 250.000 fans bought the 20 versions of the album, it should have been 250.000 albums only, or if you want to put it on the same level as BTS with only 4 versions, it should be only 1.000.000 albums sold. Not bad but still not BTS level, and no matter how you want to look at it, it's not an improvement, it's just inflated data. 😂

@beluuzz The whole point of the video is that we can say other groups are successful even when they are not at BTS's level. Because let's be real, no one is going to reach it. But do they make a profit? Do they cover their costs? Do they have fans? Can they tour? Are they growing with each comeback? If they can do all those things and still make money, then they are successful. You are doing the same thing the media does and comparing it to BTS's #'s. Other groups can be considered successful without reaching that level, as long as they are turning a profit 📈

​@@raeavilez9936 nahhh you're wrong context matters. U can't compare an album that has 4 versions max to albums with versions varying from 10 to 20+ versions. that's just inflated numbers. Map of the soul 7 is still the most successful album to come out of SK and nobody can tell me otherwise because what do the other two albums that sold more than mots7 have going for them except those sales?? mots7 debuted #1 in all the top worldwide music markets like the US, Japan, UK, France, Germany and more. They have certifications for the album and songs from the album in many countries, have multiple songs from the album on the hot 100 with ON being their highest charting song during that time at the #4 position something that svt, stray kids and the rest still haven't done with just their title tracks and r barely scrapping the bubbling under chart. Mots7 has billions of streams, impact and critical acclaim behind it. Hell even the BE album is more successful than the other groups albums as well and it originally just had just one deluxe version which costs twice as much as one ordinary album lol and BE still sold millions with that one deluxe version (awhile later we got the compact?? i think it was called version idk someone correct me if I'm wrong)

I've never listen to Backstreet Boys or Take That or any other 'Boy Band' myself and somehow I can't really see BTS as a 'Boy Band'. They are something you only see once. They are just so different.

Who are NSYNC are them some old hat American boy band? Sorry don't follow American artists and have never followed a Boy Band.

That's the problem those other companies do have influence on SK media in fact the Big 3 have their own journalists who write for SK media. It's why BTS are either totally ignored or their achievement are degraded in SK media while other groups are hyped up in SK media.

Lmao, youre not Army so you wouldnt understand the growth, determination, persistance, humbleness, journey, charisma, etc...of Bts. Bts also have a variety of genres in their discography. Also, you probably dont know anything about their music process, storylines, lyricism, the elements they incorporate to get their messages across. Bts have many live sessions since debut, I love their vocals because they are all distinct, beautiful and have their own vocal color that blends well together. Also, Bts will always be the first Asian act to achieve what many couldnt. Ill just be waiting til 2025...

Oh and let's not forget the poor oceans, all the albums that might be swimming with the fishes 😢😢

let's forget about others and focus on us . let's make them win every award in which they will be nominated and make most of mvs over 1B even if they will be in military .

@@beluuzz It's sad really, because some of those albums get bought up by people who are wealthy. Meanwhile, there must be a lot of fans of those artists who can't afford to buy albums and what do those wealthy fans do instead? They throw them away : / I sometimes buy different versions of an album too. Like Mots 7 for example. But I resell them for really cheap or even give them away for free to other ARMYs who can't afford anything. But that's more ARMY's mentality, I guess.
