Personally I think they are undervalued, and will continue to climb in price. 90's parallels and numbered cards were few and far between. It was, and still is, hard to obtain them. Parallels and #'d cards nowadays with modern are out of control - each base card with Panini has a /1, /5, /10, /15, /25 and so on. If you can't find the /5 you are looking for, you will eventually be able to find the /10, or something comparable. It will dilute the price of the modern "short prints." But finding the PMG of your favorite player from a 1998 or 1999 set, with print runs of 100 or 50, can be next to impossible. If anything, I believe modern cards are a bubble. We all know the controversy with overpriced boxes/packs, etc. People will likely one day wake up to this, whether driven more by macroeconomic conditions or not, and the prices will go down. This is all my opinion of course. But when I find a 1999 Fortune 15 Refractor /100, I get WAY more excited than when I find a 2023 1/1 card, because I know there are dozens of 1/1 cards of that exact player, from that exact year.

I agree and that is why I am focused on prewar and 90s cards. Some sets were only made 1 time in the 90s and are designed so well. The Man refractors from 98 are so amazing in hand compared to the reprints

Hey Jason. Interesting topic
@nabzy28
@nabzy28 День назад
It's heavily manipulated by a few people passing only certain cards around. There are 90's serial numbered NFL cards that don't even get 1/1000th of what a PMG of the same player goes for. That's how you can be 100% sure it's all manipulation.
@cardsandcomics
@cardsandcomics 22 часа назад
There is manipulation in all card markets, however there are multiple deep pocket collectors like Nazz putting those pmg sets together

Why are you even CONSIDERING buying collectables if you have this mindset? Its a hobby not some hedge for a prepper.

80s and 90s may have been way over printed back then but truly good copies are hard to find. The tech from the mid 90s was awesome. If Panini or Fanatics tried to do things like an embossed, die-cut, atomic type refractor, with game worn mem and or on card auto then the box/pack cost would be insane. They charge hundreds if not thousand to tens of thousands for a box with a few cards and large checklist that basically might have a serial number and non-game or player worn mem that the only difference is its color.
@cardsandcomics
@cardsandcomics 22 часа назад
Yeah i would hate to see the box price if a 97 embossed refractor retro product that did it 100% accurate

Well Done Jason. Would like to hear your thoughts on the ultra modern card market in a video. There is a large dividing line between Hobby and Card Industry.

Yes, the manufacturers love speculation and gamblers that's why they do bountys. They want people to chase the next big thing. Breakers and manufacturers have the same goals, sell out, move on

Excellent Video! I've gotten very focused on buying the 1997 Score Hobby Reserve Reserve Collection cards for two years now! They are so beautiful and never ever been remade by any other card company! They have a foil "Starburst pattern" with etching on the surface that looks and feels exactly like studded diamonds! Also they are actually extremely hard to find and came from a short run product! I also collect Mark Mcgwire cards too and yeah the nostalgia for the late '90's is really strong!

100%, my main point is that people would still collect these cards even if prices went down as they are very collectable

😂😂😂If it all went to zero, there would be no market. Demand would die with the market.

there is nothing left to pump. Everything has been done through and through. Not enough demand for cardboard and collectors are now few and far between.

100 percent a bubble. Especially the card in the thumbnail. Griffey is the only one who's prices are going up. Jeter is taking a hit.
@cardsandcomics
@cardsandcomics 22 часа назад
Prices don't have to go up in an established or mature market. Many prices fluctuate but there are collectors out there looking for rare cards, the 97 Embossed refractor Thomas just sold for a huge number for example.
@Carliferz

90s inserts brcame popular with Jordan. Griffey, Jordan, Sanders. No one else in their respective sports can hold a candle to their prices. 2 of the 3 never won a ring either.

Established is tough. A Griffey in a 8 sold in 2022 for 5k. Raw sold for 3500. Jeter established in a 9 sells for 1200. SMH. 90s are tough. You'll never be a able to crack a bgs 9.5 and cross. PSA slams these cards.

I think Established may be the best insert of the 90s
@vintagecollector5340
@vintagecollector5340 10 часов назад
Why do you think PSA stands a chance at slamming these cards with their numerical grades? It's because they aren't rare. A numerical grade doesn't dictate the value of a truly rare collectible.

@@vintagecollector5340 established are numbered out of 100, pretty rare
