It's usually going to be cheaper to build a PC yourself, but even here this isn't exactly a 1:1 comparison. That Alienware Aurora R13 uses DDR5 memory and a DDR5 motherboard, while yours is using the prior generation of DDR4. Your M.2 SSD is also a gen3 while the R13 uses a gen4 SSD. I'm not sure what other parts you've skimped on, but the R13 also has integrated RGB LEDs all over the place that can all be set independently or sync'd. If you made a true competitor with the same parts the price would still be more for the alienware, but likely only by $200-300. So, what does that extra "Alienware tax" money buy you? Your own time, less stress, convenience, 24x7 technical support with a solid warranty where they will send a technician out to your house next day to replace parts if any components fail, and more. Now, don't get me wrong.. I've been building my own PCs since the days of the 386/486 in the late 80s and i couldn't even count how many different PCs I've built throughout the years, and I had a great time doing it. I was an early adopter of desktop linux back in the days of dialup internet and spending countless hours tweaking things to get everything working. Again, I loved it and learned so much, but it's not for everyone; in fact, I would say it's not for most people.. And saying that Alienware is a scam because you can build something yourself cheaper is disingenuous at best.

Don't listen to this guy, he forgets to mention that when you buy a pre-built you are going to have a hassle free experience out of the box, not to mention Alienware on site replacement or repair and tech support. I have the Aurora R15 and it is a cool running beast. I've owned Alienware products for years and highly recommend.
@notlNSIGHT
@notlNSIGHT Год назад
Alienware prebuilts are garbage. Ewaste. Gamers Nexus proved that. Alienware PCs use proprietary parts, meaning long term repairability is non-existent. Plus the Auroras have a pretty well known issue with faulty VRMs. You want a prebuilt with good support? Get an Origin or a Maingear. They will help you through EVERYTHING. Even buying the machine and explaining what the parts do. Plus, everything is standard components, which means repairs are cheaper, and the parts can be swapped out for better ones later down the line. On top of that, you're buying systems that are built to order, with tons of attention to detail.
@shaheertabish8849
@shaheertabish8849 Год назад
@@notlNSIGHT You misunderstand. which is how I know this product isn't for you. Dell's computer's and servers are used globally on a corporate level. Alienware is Catered to their high end clientele, who don't want to send out their laptop to HQ like Razer and wait weeks. they want it repaired asap without hearing "What the parts do". These people want a top of the line gaming experience without any of he hassle. and paying a few hundred more bucks is worth over their time.

There are so many better pre built companies that don’t charge nearly as much for parts. I got a buildredux pc where they charged me an extra 50 dollars for the 4070. That’s the only part they charged extra for (besides like 20 dollars for the cpu) But even then, I paid 50 650 for the FE 4070 when they are going for 700 on Amazon. I paid 1700 dollars for it but that includes the 100 dollar build fee and setting it up/testing and 100 dollars to install the windows key. So 200 dollars (the pc would’ve been 1500 to build) to get everything built and set up for me. I think it’s worth it

It is always cheaper to build your own PC, but honestly...the Alienware in this video is only a 30% upcharge over your custom build, which sounds pretty reasonable to me. Nothing compared to Apple's history of selling pre-built computers with a 500% upcharge

A scam is when you buy a 3080 and get a 9800GT..A scam is not a price difference😂

It's the labour of building the PC that adds the price. Yeah ofc you can build it cheaper however you spend time building it yourself and did you add tax and shipping costs on the pricing of 1788
