Hotly debated on the interwebs. I'm sure everyone has an opinion on this. So this week we install APR coil packs. Buy your OEM+ parts at the Track Hack store. Specialising in Clubsport S and TCR parts track-hack.com
Just put new apr coil packs on my car today, and immediately noticed a much smoother cold start and idle. Thats for sure. And maybe noticed a minor increase in how smooth power came in and held at high revs, maybe thats placebo but in general car felt smoother on throttle.
Im going stage 2 on my rs3 next month n they asked me about coilpacks (If I had the latest revision). I just decided to ask them to put these APR ones in anyway along with ngk plugs. My car is on close to 28k and from 2017 so i kinda figured similar to you, even if it doesn't make more power its still a part that's being swapped out for a new part, ie maintenance
What the other guy should have done for his testing to see if the APR coil packs gave the car more power or not, is bought a brand new set of OEM coil packs along with a brand new set of APR coil packs, and then dyno'd them individually from there. That would have given a much better statistical result, as dyno'ing his car with his old OEM coil packs is definitely an outlier.
I agree it's not a perfect test. But at least it is a real world test. So anyone else could expect a similar result as everyone would be replacing used coil packs. I was getting the odd misfire error and have not had any since replacing. So I'm happy with that.
If your plugs and coils packs have oil on them then it's very likely you have a valve cover gasket leak which is causing this. Changing the plugs and coil packs will fix your misfires but not for long. The new plugs and coil packs will start to be covered in oil and you'll be back to square one.
Luke kills...I notice that too, I thought dielectric grease is something not to skip. The reason I watched this in the first place was to see how ard where it's applied...and he didn't use any.
Hi! Thanks for the great video, i will do the same on mine which is already stage 2. Or should i keep stock coils? Something else, maybe you can help me: I dont have any error on dashboard but i did a scan with obd and it showed me P1888 N82 coolant shut off valve. Actually i can see its dripping sometimes a few drops of coolant ubder the car. Any tip what is the problem? Thanks
I failed trying R8 Coil packs they simply do not fit Gen3 engine. After APR coils now it starts and drives so much smoother and more power can feel it for sure. No more misfires, shaking or vibrations, no more EPC light.
I didn't feel any difference with comparing to oem coil packs.. apr coil packs runs like oem to me .. it fools people with the nice bright red coloring and APR logo 😂
Really weird.. I’ve seen couple videos about this and I noticed you guys always remove those things at 3:27 but when I replaced my oem plugs for the RS7 ones I noticed that my gti does not have them.. don’t know why.. it is a MK7 GTI PP
I’m looking to get my vw tuned later on down the road but I just installed Some apr coil packs and some brisk silver spark plugs, Does anybody know if that’s like okay for the motor will it cause any problems without the tune?
From the limited reading i did when thinking of doing the same i determined that until you tune the colder coils 'could' cause an issue. Then again, i put the APR packs over the OEM plugs and had massive misfires/vibration so... What do I know 🤷🏼♂️
@@coreyleeds6646 I’m not gonna lie my car is doing okay so far, no misfires but I have a shit ton of lights from my 02 sensor because the cts turbo down pipe, I’m about to buy a new o2 and a spacer though hopefully that will fix it
tried doing my plugs this weekend only to have the coilpack rubber boot get stuck to the top of the spark plug. How did you get yours off so easily?? lol
fix your audio if you want to have a halfway decent channel. invest in a good mic and learn to utilize it properly. i cant hear your voice, but the stupid music is blaring.
Thanks for the feedback. I must not have got the balance right on the channel volumes. My mic is decent, it's a Rode Go. Though I would like to get a lavalier for it.
