Some creationists (such as Kent Hovind) claim that evolution, and atheism, are religions. In this excerpt, Kent Hovind (Christian) and Bernie Dehler (atheist) discuss it.

On Mon. 6-6-2016, Bernie Dehler had an videotaped discussion with Kent Hovind for a TV show in Beaverton Oregon called "Questions for Christians." The program has these segments:
1. Is atheism/evolution a religion? (7:02)
2. Is the gospel nonsense? (19:22)
3. Does a supernatural soul exist? (27:08)
4. Is Genesis literally true? (39:42)
5. Are Catholics REAL Christians? (50:30)

Keoni Hillier Sure. What is your point? That's not what Craig said. I'm not sure how defining religion as something of supreme importance would relate to atheism anyway - you are not a Hindu, so is your not being a Hindu a Religion?

If you want to use the colloquial definition the dictionary offers. Here's the proper definition, from the dictionary: the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.

I suspect the description you copy & pasted relates not to a primary definition but to a way the term might be used colloquially.Some people might be said to treat a particular sport like a religion - but few would seriously attempt to define football literally as 'a religion.'

Hi Bernie. Even though I'm a Christian I nevertheless appreciate your balanced approach to debating the issue of creationism versus evolutionary theory. Both sides of the discussion normally tend not to listen to each other and are very dogmatic about why they are right (despite the facts). This is not the case with your debates and it has really got me thinking. None of us should be afraid of truth, scientific or otherwise. I find people like Richard Dawkins to be just as evangelical as many dogmatic Christians and to tend switch off when listening to him/them. This is not the case with your debates.

It’s foolish that’s why the host couldn’t say anything. How do we know how computer code gets created? It’s obviously created by humans. Can 2 computer programs sexually reproduce? Is it a possibility for 2 computer programs to reproduce? How is DNA spread from parent to offspring? Can you point to a single person created by a God? If not, how can you say that God designed human DNA if it’s never been observed or not even a possibility. Also different organisms have different designs, does that mean that they had a different designer?

This guy on the phone confuses evolution with abiogenesis. What is the god of evolution and atheism if they are, in fact, a religion? Also, when we talk of evolution we mean organic evolution. Not chemical or cosmic evolution. Evolution is a word that fits in certain processes as an alegory, but 'theory of evolution' is aimed to academic Biology.

Sorry hovind Webster’s defines science-knowledge obtained through study or practice. The word observe is completely absent from the definition of science hovind, come on man you can’t even look up the definition that just shows your say whatever you want.

Ya hovind you should take your idea to court and see how many judges with actual educations believe evolution is a religion, I’ll give you a hint they have enough education to understand its science.

Can you be 2 religions at the same time? A Jewish Muslim, an Atheist Hindu etc? I would say no. Therefore if you don't believe in Islam, which Kent doesn't, then he is an atheist (with respect to Islam). Since he calls himself a Christian, he must therefore be a Christian Atheist... Unless atheism ISN"T a religion. In which case he is just a Christian. Atheism isn't a religion, it's just a response of "I don't believe you", when religious people make claims.

Webster’s definition of. Evolve- develop gradually over time. So are your children 100% exactly the same as you if not, even one gene different mean they are evolving which is evolution.

this atheist needs to research storing data in DNA. fundamentally the computer system is modeled after biological systems. The internet, intranet, and AI is modeled after neurological brain system with tags and redundant storage.
