Since the very foundation of the country, organized sports have existed in America, even among the Native Americans. It has established the groundwork for inclusiveness for a long time to come, bringing people from many backgrounds together in a variety of competitive contexts.
Organized athletics acted as a link between whites and blacks throughout the era of racial terrorism. People continue to assert that the Civil Rights Act of 1965 represents a type of "modern-day slavery" more than 50 years after it was passed.
African Americans continue to be impacted, primarily in sports. It is obvious that our athletes are paid for the arduous labor they put in. However, they don't have much freedom. Athletes are subject to covert limitations and subconscious control from their teams, endorsement deals, agents, and managers. The decisions they make for themselves, their teams, and their organizations are only partially free.
As a result, the NBA and NFL are unique in the business world. The heart-pounding drama, rim-rattling dunks, and legendary touch downs are shining monuments to black America. The majority of players in the league are black. They are multimillionaire superstars, global ambassadors, and exponents of African-American culture and greatness. As with most general managers and other league executives, the majority of head coaches are Caucasian.
