I think the main thing is to change the oil. People sometimes think if they use a high end filter, they can lapse on oil changes. NOT true. Change it. I use mid end motomaster oil filters, and have my entire life. Always work just fine.
I have never seen that Champion filter before. I like the packaging. I cannot believe how much marketing is going into high end oil filters. I just want my car to love me back.
Thanks, interesting overview of some visual/appearance…. Anyways, I use AC 46E occasionally,&. @/on shelf, my local Helena Walmart last year…. Though , generally, I used Napa Gold/ ROYAL PURPLE in past: **changing to *Purolator Boss *now……quality /cleaning/specs/ etc……Interestingly, also, changed to MANUFACTURE’s Engine* Air/ Cabin Filters (**from K& N, ),in my high DUST SEVERE USE,….!
Ps:: have “ heard” some chatter : “plastic/ Black “ center ( ACDELCO*) much stronger than some “metal”, and compound/“ cardboard”(?.) end caps /fusing/ zapping together incredibly strong, etc… Actually, **I am, , inclined to review modern fabrics/materials/ methods and utilize if valuable….e.g. VELCRO, KEVLAR, GLUES,FUSION, ETC.
Just like everyone else, SHIT all over the FRAM! if you tear open a Denso filter made for Toyota, they don't use any end caps at all. I would personally use the use the Champ Lab filter.
Yet another oil filter video that doesn't make mention of Filter ß effecency, absolute rating, micron rating or flow. These videos by various producers are fairly purposeless.
Overlooked the fact that the metal end caps cost about 3/8 inch in filter material width (45 x .325=14.625 sq. in. of filter) and that the metal cores increase the flow restriction. The 'felt' end seals are flexible enough to be forced against the canister end and seal nicely during use. The problem with your examination is we don't really learn much except that the AC/Delco people need to pay more attention to the threads on their baseplate. IF we could run flow tests and filter efficiency test we would be much smarter!
Went to Advance Auto Parts to get a good oil filter, and all they had were the Carquest ones. I bought one but it was their premium one, not the standard one shown in this video. After seeing your dissection of the standard one, I feel much better about having bought the Carquest brand for my beloved Cadillac ATS 2.0T which has its oil changed every 3k miles using Mobil 1.
