Are camcorders still worth buying? In this video I give 5 reasons why camcorders are worth buying, number 1 is wildlife, 2 is private investigator, 3 is sports, 4 is events, 5 is plane spotting, I believe if you are thinking about making any of the videos mentioned above, a camcorder will be crucial to get your video done with ease.

I record footage with my Canon XA50. I bought it new for $850 and it came with a new SanDisk Extreme 256GGB SD card, attachments, camera bag, UV filter, camera bag and an extra big battery. It was on clearance at Best Buy. It still sales for $2,000, used. I am loving my camera.

Hey Gus, I shoot on a Canon XA11 and a Canon XA40. I started focusing on buying filters for my cameras. And my footage is coming out better. The we shoot the better we get at it.

Thanks. I'm looking to record activities at bird nests I find. There are plenty of people who already take great stills of birds with the many thousands of dollars of camera and lenses, but seeing a video and hearing the sounds, even if it isn't the highest levels of resolution, is something else entirely.

Hi Gus, I use Canon XA11 for my short videos for social media. I usually use it in vertical. I use mirror image mode while recording myself. I am really worried about your advices. Especially AUTO or M mode? which do you prefer. What do you advice for a blur background? Thank you.

Hi Gus. Of course they are worth buying. Would you chose CANON XA 60 over Sony Z90 ? I dont count Panasonic 2000 due to smaler sensor. What is the top Camcorder at the moment in your opinion?

I shoot with camcorders, my usual videos are shot a jvc everio gz-mg330, and my more proffesional ones are shot with a panasonic hc-v160

I purchased a Canon XA50 to record local aerobatic competitions. These are not airshows, they are competitions, so the planes are a lot higher in the sky (1,500 feet). I just could not get my XA50 to lock on to the planes and focus, it just kept hunting. I switched to a DSLR with a zoom lens and it locked on immediately. I was really hoping the XA50 would work and maybe I am doing something wrong (I am new to camcorders). But it really struggled to record aerobatic planes. I want to give the XA50 another chance but I will likely sell it.

On the camcorder, use manual focus. Zoom into something very far away, manually focus on it, and leave the camera in that setting. Every far-away plane will be in focus and stay in focus.
