Are Charity Shops Becoming TOO EXPENSIVE? My Mixed Opinion #charityshop 

The primark t shirts in my local charity shop are £6 or £8 , and they are £4 new in primark

Charity shop prices are just ridiculous now, also keeping stuff aside for people is something they shouldn't be doing it just pisses ppl off & stops them going back

I think they are stupid and are eventually going to fall flat on their faces. If anything it is resellers that are keeping them afloat at the moment but even now resellers are wising up to it.

Always pickup those monster trucks if a quid or two….. an easy £10-£20 if in good nick

The British heart Foundation in Portsmouth is so expensive, they sell second hand furniture for more than new and the 20£ delivery on top

Great vid. A little info for you, the charity revitalise is closing down it was announced today. My local one is doing 50% off everything because of this to get rid of stock. I expect all the revitalise shops are doing the same from today too. You might get some decent bargains if you hurry 👍🙂

It's because of resellers that charity shops are now more expensive, because they aren't stupid and know how much stuff is worth, and lots of people coming in will be looking to sell on.

You'd be suprised actually, if jumpers are the right material people don't mind paying for them. I sold a brown V neck one on eBay for £8 + £2.94 postage. It was merino wool

Shops are closing down in many centres. Rent is a big issue for shops... they need to cover their rates. My locals are full of clothes from TU, F&F, M&S... just not worth it. I did find a Ralph shirt on the £2 rail, but that is rare. I was chatting to the manger of one shop about these plushies holding things like Mentos. She said she looked them up, saw they were going for 19.99, so priced them 9.99. Looking at Amazon today, I think she was looking at the larger plushies 😮 maybe a panic not to give stuff away

Charity shops will eventually disappear off the high street. They are a business & continuous running costs will have them running at a loss. They've already jumped over to online selling & profits are now there for them & not on the high street.

Price increases aren’t down to resellers. It’s down to a reduction in footfall on the high street and the majority of charity shops being managed by large corporations who set the stores unrealistic sales targets. With less customers they push the prices up to try and hit those targets but it’s a backwards economy. They’re left overstocked with unmotivated volunteers and the local community who previously benefited from cheap, quality second hand goods would now rather buy cheap clothing from the supermarket and their home wear and gifts from China on the likes of Temu because it’s cheaper. Unless charity shops refocus on what their local communities want and start providing it then more and more will close down.

The reason why certain charity shops are so expensive is the fact that their main HQ in London is around £4 million per year in rent and the top managers / bosses are on £250,000 per year......
