I recently received and reviewed two Manbily Carbon Monopods and found the same results. The fit and finish is quite good, and includes a 'walking handle' to let the monopod do double duty as a walking stick. They look like they are trying to put their best tripod foot forward. Nice video.

Much better than the really cheap. flimsy, tripods you get in some kits. I'd rather save the money and skip out on those cheap kit accessories. This tripod looks more robust and a better value for the money. I think this might make for a good travel tripod since I don't use many heavy lenses and I don't trek off in the woods for hours to shoot a lot of wildlife. Thanks for the review and the suggestion.

Certainly lighter and much less expensive than my much loved Gitzos with Really Right Stuff ball heads. I'm still using a Nikon D800 and D500, sometimes with the 200 - 500 attached; heavy combinations. I personally prefer the twist locks that you have less faith in than I do. I also like that they can be (somewhat) readily taken apart for removing salt and sand, both common issues on the east coast of the United States. A lighter tripod would obviously be easier to carry, and might work with my Lumix G9. For now, my heavier legs / ball heads will have to do the job.

Yes I agree. This tripod isn’t for heavy setups but a very good price for smaller ones

I realised I needed a decent Gitzo tripod when I got my 500F4 G lens. For smaller lenses, a less expensive tripod like this may do the job. For 300mm or longer lenses, a very solid tripod is preferred. There is no way it makes sense to rely upon a budget model.

Yes that’s right. My 200-500 was too heavy and needed a big tripod. I don’t have a lens that big anymore.

I've got a Ulanzi tripod which looks exactly the same with the same bag, just different color scheme. This is how Chinese products work, same products in a lot of different brands names, because they have manufacturing clusters being very close together for different types of product. They get all the components from factories very conveniently nearby. This one is pretty okay though. Just one thing about this video, the voice over is a little layback and thus not wasy for non native English speakers like me to follow.

Interesting about the manufacturing. I didn’t think about translation. I’ll be clearer in the future. Thanks

Thanks for the review, it is very useful. Can you tell me, what is the diameter of the plate the head sits on? Thank you
@russandloz
@russandloz 6 месяцев назад
5x3cm. It seemed fine on my z6 but maybe need a bigger plate for larger kit

@@russandloz Hi, thanks for your reply. Its hard to describe, but i meant the plate at the top of the centre column, the circular part with the screw, where you attach the tripod head.
@russandloz
@russandloz 6 месяцев назад
@@bourbon_sketcher The centre column top is 3.8cm diameter, why do you need to know out of interest?

@@russandloz Thanks for that. I am planning to use the tripod as an outdoor painting easel with a tilting board attached ; and i have a tripod head arriving soon that has levers that make it easy to tilt the board. The heads base is 60mm :) Appreciate your time, thanks again.
