Neil Bath is mr Chelsea, a local lad , went to school and grew up in Battersea; followed Chelsea all his life. Managers, owners will come and go but no one should remove Neil from his beloved Chelsea
Why are they restructuring the one thing at this club that worked flawlessly? Just seems some corporate level micromanagement bullshit. Starting to think Eghbali is a massive problem at this football club.
Joe Shields and Sam Jewel are taking over the academy…sucks bc Bath has been great for a long time but this is definitely an upgrade based on the academies both men built elsewhere 🤷🏾♂️…no sentiment in football bro
@@simtyfulit's quite simple. Gallaghers passing accuracy isn't indicative of his ability to make progressive passes. CB's generally have the most passes and highest pass accuracy in matches, not because they're the best passers of the ball(quite the opposite), it's because they're making sideways passes and easy passes. This is why it's important to watch football. Context is key.
@@LogicsupersedesExactly, Fabregas in a recent interview mentioned about present midfielders having such a high pass percentage passes leading to nothing. Most of those passes are not progressive nor killer passes into the final third.
@@munashe7 I need to go watch that because whenever I use this argument people seem to ignore it. Now fabregas is in my corner they can't deny it lol I'd much rather a player that looks to break the lines with a pass and fails 25/100 times, than a guy passing back to his CB failing 1/100 times. And it's not a knock on Gallagher, I think he's a solid player. But for a chelsea team that's going to win the league, is he really a starter? Not in my opinion. Squad player, sure, but not a starter in a squad looking to win titles.
if we dont know the full story of Neil Bath leaving yet lets not make assumptions or freak out. we cant say its a mistake unless we know why this is happening. just saying
Cobham Academy is the juoal of the crown in the Chelsea football club. I hope clearlake will be able to keep the high standards and the quality in the academy.
Ahhh Chelsea youth, one of the most negative and toxic accounts across the Chelsea fan base. People being outraged about this is pathetic, as if anyone is on the inside of the academy and have any idea of this. I guarantee you in a week from now no one will ever think about this ever again and it will have zero impact on anything. The academy was successful well before either of these two joined.
I just don’t see the point of getting rid of Neil bath. It’s kind of gutting. I don’t mind the ownership as they at least seem to somewhat care but this feels like a big mistake.
I think Bath is standing up for our youth player's right to get into the first team instead of being farmed out to buy kids across the world. I understand players like Paez and Estevao, but farming mid players to dump out our own is madness, and if it is just burning money to hit that required 2bn investment for the sake of selling off the club, maybe they're sacking off the guys who figured it out and started asking questions.
The one thing we really didn't want to mess up is the academy. This is a monumental mistake that will definitely come back to haunt us,these owners have messed up on this one. Though there were stories last season that Bath wasn't happy with certain players being sold and the overall direction and new veiw on the academy 🤦♂️😢💙💙💙
I’m going to assume there is a different reason. We are still making sure to retain players like Tyrique George and Acheampong. Someone as experienced as Bath surely realizes it’s only a very select few who will make it into the first team. I believe the style of football we’ve all been hearing about from the directors through briefings and later cemented by the hiring of Maresca is the reason Bath has probably decided it’s time to move on to a new challenge. The club and the coach will want the academy to train stylistically like the first team. Hard to tell a guy as experienced and successful as Bath to make major changes to his program. Let’s see who they bring in. But ultimately, the first team will have to start winning again if you still hope to recruit the best young domestic talent. Success breeds success.
We have the best or there about when it comes to our youth programme, think we were hardly low on talent under Jodie and his team. Any Chelsea fans thinking the conveyer belt just stops over night? Away take your head for a shite. The only failure is how little actually make the 1st team. I'd love us to have 3 under 18s in the squad every season and hopefully Maresca gets the first 21 in the right positions and get a good run of wins with 3-0 up with 20 mins to go then hope he has the future in mind and plays at least 2/3 teens for 20 min spells and none of this Injury time BS with NO chance to really prove their worth. We're going to shag this season, not saying we can topple City just yet but 2nd has to be the target. I'm not greedy, 1st season for Maresca, top 4 will be sufficient... COYB
I was upset until I saw Joe Shields and Sam Jewel are taking over the academy…we will be in great hands folks, some of u were alil quick to sling knives at the owners (they’ve made some mistakes don’t get me wrong) but the infrastructure seems to be forming into shape…it’s taking a while but it’s starting to shape up😅🤷🏾♂️
Oh wow, I just hope that our academy success isn't down to only 2 people so we might be able to compensate for them leaving. I don't really want to put this all on the current owners, as we have been neglecting our academy for years before that, but it still leaves a weird taste that those guys are leaving now.
There are so many great players that have come through the ranks and then sold, but I guess you also have to look at the large amount of great talents that we have let slip for free like Rice, Musiala, mbappa to name a few, as they weren’t seen as good enough! Nevertheless Neil Bath has been a fantastic servent for Chelsea.
No matter what these people can never be there for ever It's time fans should understand that Chelsea under going restructuring and so a lot of old people at the club will surely leave
This is not good news getting rid of academy coaches who have done so much to aid so many talented young players transition to first team players, even if they end up playing for another team.
We have very little to show for all this "great" academy work. As you said, we've built and groomed these players so they can move on to play for other teams. Shut it down and save the money, keep buying young South American 17 yr old players and save the cash.
@@LouLouPooPoo94 Firstly, I would like to see these $100's of millions we've sold players for. Secondly, Id like to see your facts for how the academy costs nothing. I'll wait while you gather up the info
@@gary3944 Mount £55m, Tammy Ab £35m, Hall £28m, Maatsen £37.5m, Tomori £27m, Livramento £22m do I need to continue? In fact it's reported Chelsea have sold above £300m in academy players. Now I can't get you numbers for the academy but i can tell you it costs no where near that to run. Another point you should think about Gary is that lots of smaller clubs are investing in their academies as they are a high profit business, even when you sell players for a few million, the profit is huge as it's cost so little.
@@gary3944 Hi Gary, Didn't take long to think of a few, most fans know them off by heart! Mount £55m, Maatsen £37, Hall £28m, Tammy £35m, Tomori £28m, Tino £22m. Thanks for waiting, in the time you gave me I also saw a number that added up to +£300m from the academy sales, pretty good if you ask me. Now I can't give you exact numbers from the academy but I can tell you the people working in their aren't paid footballers wages (significantly less) and it doesn't cost millions to run. Players mostly come in for free, are paid relatively little until their pro contract and while the set up is world class it's not costing us 10s of millions regularly. It's a huge money maker for Chelsea and always has been. Anything else you want me to give you info on?
If Clearlake actually got into Europe they’d face Academy grads at Barcelona, Bayern, Milan etc. European royalty. Different playing system through the levels doesn’t really count. They were managerial level not running drills. “The concept of a dedicated nursery club of the type we know today was only just coming into vogue in May 1939, when Birrell made the switch from Queen’s Park Rangers to Stamford Bridge with the promise of shaking things up. A keystone of his plan was investment in youth. At the time, teams had scouts to unearth the best youngsters, of course, but there were no real provisions within the professional game specifically for 16-to-18-year-olds to learn their trade. We now know that the first proper Chelsea Juniors match took place 80 years ago this month on 25 May 1940, with Birrell’s old club QPR the opposition. That pioneering Chelsea line-up was: H Blackburne; H Holder, L Clatworthy; C H White, R Greenwood, A E Wharton; A Friend, A N Other, Arthur Smith, V D Winn, T H Young. At least three of this first batch of youngsters went on to play for the first team during regional wartime football: Les Clatworthy, Bert Friend and, of course, future England manager Ron Greenwood.”
I’m guessing that when the club has a new style of play at the senior level they then have to have coaches at academy level that can understand and develop the youth appropriately. Trust in the process.
I wonder if maresca had something to do with Bath leaving the academy have produced some good players although most have gone on to play for other teams
I'm not exactly bothered by the move eventually coaches transition out as much as we will say they have developed Talent over the years and I will not take any credit away from that there is nothing to say more aligned with the style and culture that they are trying to cultivate undeveloped faster. One thing that I've always thought was weird about the development of our youth has been no one seems to be physically ready in our Academy and that's not the same in other academies I welcome some change
These owners just change for change’s sake. Devoid of any logic getting rid of Bath Can anyone name anything that they have improved? Just one thing? I hope they get tired of football and go back to American sport which they may understand because football they don’t. 🤷🏼♂️
It’ll be interesting, we know the plan is to play the same style at all levels, perhaps there was some friction with that structure. We’ll have to see how it goes.
I really don’t like the way these owners treat kids like a commodity. Maybe Bath wanted out because of that It’s not just about $$$ These owners have zero class. Being a Chelsea fan these days is generally quite embarrassing
Do you really think this is about "good academy coaches" bruv??? 😂 Do you even know or noticed what has been happening at our football club since the summer of 2023??? Seems like mainstream media has blinded you and you haven't done your due diligence to understand what this owners have been doing and what their end goal is.
Spent 100m on potential, not immediate success. He’s not a 32 year old senior player. Only time will tell if this was a good buy or not. Way too early to judge him on the price tag
Could you possibly do a COPA America review for the US? A lot of us US listeners would really appreciate your insight into just what the hell is wrong with the US MNT.
@@gary3944 I agree with those points, I guess I meant an outsider's perspective on the US squad, coach, our entire ecosystem would be good to hear from my fav football youtuber.
@tomsmith5782 yeah that was kinda what I was getting at. As soon as RJ comes back into the team, he is immediately out again, for one reason or another 😬
