I also completely missed that the iBasso has ITS OWN OPERATING SYSTEM that is just the raw music player.. I will re-review that unit with the new amp module in the future. No worries.
yeah I actually need a dap. I use an ear studio but I want a stand alone player after a couple months of use and now I need a dap. this ibasso might be it!
I've had 4 iBasso DAPs, three were DX200 and one DX160. Two of the DX200s failed with different faults, and thenDX160 lasted 5 days before it stopped allowing me to unlock the screen on bootup. That's a 75% failure rate. I don't care how good they sound, I will never buy another iBasso product.
After listening to this review and many others about the DX240, I bought it. Your review is my favorite. The DX240 is everything you say it is. It was your review that really brought my attention to the DX240 vs the Fiio, any Astell&Kern player, or any other. If anything ever "happens to it", I would buy this one again in a second.
I used to love small DAPs just for music, but over the last like 4 years I got used to a huge in comparison screen of a phone that I just can't go back to the smallest DAPs. Like it feels like I'd need a microscope to navigate the thing and reading glasses to see the album art. Which is such a contrast to the effortless presentation of massive, glorious album art and all the information you ever need on a big-screen device. On the other hand, giant players like the M11 or the iBasso lineup are of good size screens, but the weight and thinness.. fk. I do not want to carry a brick. I don't care how good the music sounds, that's just insane. If I want the best of the best sound I'd listen on my home setup with all the giaat amps and dacs and the like. Portable. As in pocketable, not need-a-truck-to-howl-around.
ditch all cell phones.. don't even carry a flip phone. get a portable cassette player, cd player or if you're truly adventurous, a minidisc player. absolutely no laptops, ever.. only use a computer when you're sitting at a desk and when you do that, no 'social media' sites. Life is immediately 100000000000x better.
@@edwindejesus1573 No, not yet. But the M11 Plus is my top choice so far. Pricing has dropped and Apos’ certification process for their refurbed equipment makes me less apprehensive to purchase with them. I’ll circle back when I pull the trigger!!
@@terryss95 as far as i've seen a connector being fragile. there are only few. mini hdmi and micro usb. its not the size that makes things fragile. i can dangle my phone off the wall from a 1 ft usb c cable.
Being new to audiophilia and slowly learning. Daily drivers are Audeze Isine 20, Qudelix 5k attached to the monoprice monolith portable dac amp. Just bluetooth from my phone on amazon music. Its a start and as newbie as i am, its amazing. Just waiting on a Modhouse Argon mk3 and then Audeze lcdx cuz i love America. Then just need to round up on a home system for gaming and music.
I just ordered the AP80 Pro coming tomorrow at $100 on Amazon. A. DAPs usually sound far superior to the phones or tablets B. conrol over the collection and C. can use them with wired and/or balanced headphones and just get a superior listening experience. Also battery life, and features. My IPhone 14 is fine for the car but I wouldn't rely on it otherwise for serious music. I also got some AirPod knock off IEMs and they sound fine, but have almost NO power. Plus the DAPs have at least a decent amp built in. The Bluetooth on the AP80 is just icing on the cake, as I doubt I'll even use it that much.
@@spamcan9208 I found a deal one on Amazon, refurb or repacked, not sure. Well, I ended up returning it, only because it had trouble finding a ton of newer .wav music on my transferred SD card, I'm not sure why. I tried everything to get it to do so, it just wouldn't. The player seemed good, if a bit tiny. I ended up going a different way.
Is there any DAP out there that only has a USB digital out, you mentioned you have a bunch of dongle DACs, well, I have a lot of them too and I would like a cheap DAP that only outputs digital over USB, so that I can customize it's profile by switching DACs.
Hey Zeus - do you know any one that sells a Pentaconn 4.4mm right angle into a pentaconn 4.4mm. Thanks for your great reviews - I bought the M11 Plus after watching them.
Hi Z! I recently purchased some T60rp Argons from Modhouse and was wondering if you could recommend the perfect DAP to pair with it with a great cable. Price range anywhere from £500 - £1500. I have quite a bit of money but would appreciate your tips for the perfect match for my Argons. Let me know. Love your videos! Chris
They all need wireless charging too, i leave my old Fiio lying around and it doesn't take long to die unattended, when i font leave it perma plugged in for a week.
A lot of people would be better off with a used LG v60 or G8X or G7 or v40 or something. You can get them for a hundred bucks these days. Don't put a SIM card in it, just use it as dap. You're going to get a modern version of Android, LDAC, can drive up to 600 ohms, aptx, native EQ, SD card support etc...
More people need to know this. I’ve been using the v50 as my dap purely and it is driving my 6xx and sundara just fine with a -11dB EQ just fine at volume 65/75. A used LG V series is going really cheap these days. They are really good.
Or, LG could get into the DAP market, add play buttons and a balanced output... $289? I find a dedicated player potentially a lot smaller, instead of carrying literally two phones in my pocket.
Another thing I don't like about using the phone is that constant media playing kills the battery fast, unless it's plugged in and charging the whole time. Esp in the car.
With the Ap80pro-x player, I can say that it runs well on Android systems and is stable if you want to stream it with your smartphone. Via cable as well as Bluetooth, but with Apple I can't recommend it. With Apple, only Bluetooth with the neutered SBC mode works, which is really disappointing. And with cable to connect an Apple device, the player crashes, interrupts the playback, so it doesn't work. Which is a real shame otherwise it would have been a pretty good player if both worked equally. Also the Kamaeraadt adapter doesn't work, I tried it and decided to return it. Hidizs didn't give me the impression that they were going to fix it with a firmware update. So I can say for Android devices it's okay but for Apple devices it's not. At this price you have to say that you should consider the Ifi Hip Dac 2 because you need a smartphone for the Hidizs anyway. The Hip Dac 2 probably does a better job and runs on both operating systems.
Ease of convenience…. Which one can I download apps on Spotify Tidal etc. and listen to high quality audio on my expensive wireless or wired headphones?
Anyone know if the Fiio M11 Plus (or Pro) sound 'better' than a Fiio X7 mark 2? Or basically the same I know that the UI would be way better anyway, which is why I may want to upgrade.
hello, a strong click is heard in the player DX240 when turned on, is this normal? in other players DX150 DX220 it is not as strong as it is. is this a problem?
I fancy another dap and it's between fiio m11s and ibasso dx170. Can't find a comparison anywhere. Has anyone got an opinion on which is best for sound stage, depth, instrument separation and layering.
could you please review the jbl nano k8's not a first time viewer by the way your reviews saved me from buying the m50x and buying the sony 7506 and im planning on upgrading to speakers now and the nano k8s are the only 8 inch speakers that are fitting inside my budget and r=other reviews say it is better than the 308mkii's but in the end its your reviews that have my heart thanks for the reviews man really appreciate it !
whens the promo in the RD7X ending? hoping to see what other headphone go on sale for drop’s anniversary and purchase it together if there are any other good promos.
I have been using my Xduoo X3 for a long time but they had the second generation for a while but it's no longer up for sale anymore which is a let down.
Zeos: why does most BT stuff have no power at all as far as built-in amps? That's yet another thing I cannot stand about it. The only BT I bought that I love is a BT speaker that has 70 watts left and right per channel. Now THAT sounds great!!
A DAP will always sound better then a phone, doesnt matter what you do with dongle dacs, because you must live with the Android stack in the middle or equivilent on IOS, pit it this way, the Hidisz sounds better then a dongle dac of twice the price. MSEB is an AI parametric EQ that translates your preference into the proper settings and filters that you would mostly not know how to use on an actual professional parametric eq, not being a studio sound engineer.
Hi! Thank for the video. Do you have a video or post with music recommendation? What music do you usually put on your DAP? I usually put Yoko Kanno or 70's Metal
Exactly what I have. Works very well, lasts long, easy UI, balanced, no issues. Well except it's not recognizing all my meta data for songs/albums. I'll figure that out eventually.
I want to just buy a refurbished unlocked Samsung Note 9 thing was $1100 new a few years ago and you can get them for $199 refurb directly from amazon now just and use it as a media player. I truely can't come up with a reason this wouldn't function as an exceptional dap.
I actually think that in daps there is more to really burn in than in headphones. There are capacitors and the burn in process is recommended by manufacturers, like for example Audio Note. Their Audio Note Kaisei capacitors reach their full potential after around 200h according to the company. When it comes to the headphones, i dont believe in a burn in process longer than 20h. Just my 12 cents.
Currently burning in my new cables built with rare minerals(you won't have heard of them) from a child labor force in the Congo. The difference after 400 hours is outstanding. My wife can hear the difference from the kitchen! I'm telling you, the chocolatey midrange is something to behold.
