I skate a 8.0 Element deck, love it for manuals and flip tricks. I don't do alot of Vert stuff so I can't speak on that. It's rough for me no matter what Brand or Size I'm on lol. As far as Park and Street I have a blast on my element board.
It was Monday evening, its now Tuesday morning, you're such an inspiration, skate whenever I can too, and I'm 32, I can relate to what it takes to make up whatever time you can, to go skating
After looking at a bunch of Element decks I find that the "pro, name" boards aren't as good as the Brand name ones (Blazin, Section, Team Quadrant etc). Element was one of my go to brands back in the 90s and still, 20+ years later i bought another 3👍
@@drywater3559 I don't know how they are made today but back in the late 90's and early 2000's they weren't just made the same, they literally WERE the same. As in the same factory were making all the boards for every big brand.
I got my 8 year old a element complete after I spent 150 on building him one just because we couldn’t find a 7.75 . I changed the barrings out at the shop and he loves it . Drop ins a lot better manuals a lot better , just all around better for .
change one nut from the hardware from silver to blue and this man is going to feel it in his flick when hes popping a backside flip absolute madlad, dope video as always
I’ve skated a few zeros, a pink and black zero was my first deck, they’re good but always try something different, it’s the variety of life, unless you love the shape and can’t land anything on anything but
I’ve got an 8.38 Zero with “Covid-19 mellow concave” and I’m pretty happy with it. I’ve progressed quite a bit this year using it. I’ve definitely found the size I like lol Aside from the razor tail (that I didn’t experience with my Almost Impact), it’s perfectly durable. No chipping or warping yet. Good pop as well!
I skated as a kid and last year I decided to get back into it. I bought an element complete, Nyjah Huston signature (I didn’t even know who that was at the time) in 7.75. It has held together very well. It has taken some good hits to the nose and tail and there is no chipping. I will buy Element again
One of my favorite decks was am Element and this was way back before they became so popular due to Bams fame and such. I had a few after that and they were great. I've not had one in over 10 years but if there still made the same then they're good. I always end up going back to alien Workshop and Girl or chocolate.
I haven't skated in 8 years but looking to get back into it. I did love element until I experimented with different brands and ended up loving Girl and Chocolate the most and stuck with them for years. I did buy two brand new Alien workshop decks the one time through my experimenting and they were by far the worst boards I ever had... I was so pissed I had to skate them until I could get my mom to buy me a new deck.
I was turned off of ps boards around 2006 when I was skating alien/habitat boards and the boards were hit or miss. Sometimes a board was great and poppy then the next one would be soggy from day one. I got some toy machine boards a few months ago and so far they’ve been great. Good shapes. Good pop. Last a long time.
Man your videos are straight up rad! Gonna grab myself an element deck to get back on boarding this spring 👊🏼💚☮️ much love n sending good vibes your way from NB
Hi Ben! I just wanted to add my vote for a Tensor Mag Light review. They redesigned the entire Truck this year, the new geometry is higher is tighter turning. It's like indies that are lighter than thunders. I just got one with the new geometry, my only complaint was the interlocking bushings. Tossed some Bones hardcore softs in and I'm in love with these trucks. Would love to hear your thoughts. Hell, I'd even spring for a set for you to review if you want to get in touch!
"that can take a lot of effort for an older guy to do a backside flip." As one of those older guys just getting back into skateboarding for the first time in 15 years...I feel your pain
so I recently got an 8.5 element deck on sale for 40€ and I like it alot! mostly because the measurements are so nice for me, 32.7 length and 14.75 WB thats not an element thing, most of their decks are shorter, but so far I love it, no issues, good pop and nice concave, didnt chip or anything yet.
element was my first 'pro' board, the shape and feel was way better than other decks i bought after it, i thought i got a lucky one from the factory or something. i remember using risers with mine because i liked smaller wheels but still wanted more pop for ollies. this led to my nose/tail going square from over-use. which i kinda preferred, lol. good times.
Canada seems so nice for skateboarding.. all the semi-public places I've seen you skate everyone just seems okay with it, where in California we'd be kicked out in minutes. Also, the skateparks you regular look amazing, very open and hardly anyone around!! I'm super jealous!!
That’s actually funny because I just ordered two deck one is an 8.38 which is pointy and the other is a 8.5 which is round. So I wonder if the in between sizes get pointy and the other get round.
Element has always been one of my favorite brands. I feel like they are the only skateboard brand that has that spiritual and philosophical approach which I like
I'm just done skating a WKND (PS too) board and was very impressed with it too. I wasn't expecting much, coming from Polar (BBS) boards and I was surprised how good it was. Very sturdy and great pop. It has a super square nose and very steep kicks but they were easy to get used to.
Pete & Pete yeah every krooked i've seen so far is really flat compared to this shape. The kicks are the steepest I've ever seen. But still, never felt weird skating them. I'm on my second deck from them and I'm loving it!
The problem with brands like element and world industries is they have proper made boards. But they also sold out and make Walmart quality boards also. So the line can become blured. At least in Australia I found this
I’m skating 2 element boards my old board that I got from my local skate shop it’s an 8.0 Brandon west gate board on bones reds bearings thunder light trucks bones 55 mm easy street 100 wheels . And my bam Margera 8.2 board I got at Zumiez
You should try element again they switched to bbs and I really like them so far I love the pointy nose and tails they feel incredible for the type of tricks I’m good with like pressure flips, lasers, and tres and the scoop is super nice with it,
I ended up not getting a complete but building my own setup. More expensive but so satisfying, more durable. The quality of it and design motivates me much more
Dolce Yul Nice good choice. i will do a custom too but before that i will use my complete element until it breaks or something. The only bad thing i noticed is the bearings. It's a bit slow
I picked up skateboarding when I was a kid, then dropped it because I have two left feet apparently. I started longboarding instead. I love my longboard, but it doesn't have the same range of tricks, so I use it for cruising. Now that I'm older, though, I decided to pick up skateboarding again, and bought an Element. It's one of the 3 boards I always wanted to have as a kid, the other 2 being Powell-Peralta and Darkstar. I'm only now watching this video, and I don't regret my decission one bit, but I got to stop that habit of watching reviews after I've already bought the product xD
Had one as a kid..broke after two days...also element always had a change in the team mentality...they change their image every now and than... Btw would you consider riding a flip deck.. I'm really into their shape..
I’ve always like element, they have one shape that is exactly what I like, a 8.25, 14.25 wb, a small tail and nice round nose, I just hate how they have so many different shapes and don’t have them categorized on their website
Back in 01/02 I rode the Natas Element model religiously. They got better and better every day I'd skate them and then the deck would explode. Lots of concave from what I remember.
Element are great boards always have been despite the naysayers back in the mid 2000s claiming they were shit due to them going a bit mainstream back then. They're PS Stix pressed. Just make sure u get a Mexico made & not a China because the China press is mellower. My only gripe is the short tails that almost all their decks have
eferretti usually there’s a small sticker that mentions made in mexico on the top side of the deck ( where you stick your grip tape ) placed in the center of the 4 screw holes near the tail of the deck
@@TheMetaldudeX yeah just picked a newer model up & found 'Made in BBS' etched onto the top instead of PS Stix, which I don't really know how I feel about because I loved PS Stix made over Bareback Made. It's defo flatter in the nose & tail than the PS Stix. Will have to give it a whirl & see how it feels
That park is filthy, I carry a broom with and always have to sweep the council owned skateparks before skating, often in front of the council maintainence workers 😢
It’s freaky this video got recommended to me. I grew up near that park. I took my kids there recently with my cruiser board. I just picked up an Element Popsicle board to take there.
I always liked element decks. i skated them and shortys for their shape in the late 90s to mid 2000s.Reminds me alot of the powell 249 shapes i ride today.
@@bendegros I may have to grab one of these then. Restarted skating last year after 10 years away and I haven't been able to adjust to the newer shapes
Element was my first board but their concave is like skating a plank of wood. Best for a bowl. They stay snappy forever i skated mine for years i was too light to break it.
If I recall correctly, Toy Machine decks aren't only pressed by PS Stix, but some are from the same Chinese wood shop that Chocolate/Girl decks are being pressed. It's kind of hard to know where exactly each model is being pressed, making it hard to have a consistent experience riding them.
I’m under the impression that the $40 price point decks are the Chinese wood. I’ve never skated the price point boards but the ones with the PS laser etch on the top are great boards. Keep their pop for a long time. I like bbs wood but PS is of comparable quality. If you like the shape/concave you can’t go wrong with either bbs or ps.
I just skated 4 hours and was feeling superior to you and your 90 minute sessions... Then I tried to get out of my car and couldnt move XD. Question: Could you do a video on being an older skater and finding a new crew\Skating alone? Iget the feeling youre wise in this as well by how good you are with the young skate rats and seem to have a few og friends but also probably skate solo alot too! Either way thanks for putting positivity out there and heres hoping home life makes as much sense as skating for you.
I skate alone 90% of the time. I have always been that way. I have people that I see at skateparks that I like to skate with but I almost always go alone. It's not intentional I have just always been too impatient to plan sessions with people. I am a man of little time!
Used to love Elements back in 01-05. Then between the Fiberlight launch and the Billabong sale their boards started feeling like garbage. I hear they're getting better again though.
Yes I love my element bam legends board 8.2 With thunder hollow lights and bones reds bearings. On 55 mm bones. 💯 easy street my board had purple heart o gram so I matched it with purple wheels. I’ve had it two weeks The wheel graphics rubbed off when I used. Car wipes to clean it off boards got a lot of pop
for me it is true, that element decks goes perfectly with thunder. My current set up is also theese with spitfire 44 tablets 99a. I found my setup after 20years :) but even like rictas on.
I just started skating again after 15 yrs.. Im 29 now and I bought one element complete and it fucking broked in two days.. so I really think they are for kids..
when I started watching, I was annoyed by all the rain of the past few days. now I am happy, it doesn't rain goose shit in my town :D (also, awesome trick at 5:15 ^___^)
I don’t like pointy boards whatsoever, because I always miss my flick when I try to kickflip. I need my board to hella round and square-ish round shape so I can feel where to flick
My first real board was element, the orange and blue graphic, best board I skated st the time. Got back to skating after 13 years (27 now) and apparently element wasn't cool anymore haha, ended up getting an ATM deck. It's ok I suppose. Can't tell if it's really good because I was never very good. Swapping the indys for some blacksmiths reduced the weight and I'm closer to landing popshuvits now, the deck seems to pop alittle better now, , but I'm still getting my legs back so my ollies aren't very high
Are there big differences between us Element boards and European ones? I know they are not made the same or even in the same place. I love element, but I'm starting to feel like our European element decks are of lesser quality than the US ones. Hoping you know something about this and could shed some light on it. Thanks! PS, your back tail video has helped me out tremendously, so thank you.
This is very offtopic to this video but since I can’t find anywhere to ask this question, I’ll ask it here. So I have an 8.0 and I ended up getting a truck that’s from Indepedent a size 109, is it alright to ride trucks smaller than the decks width?
Awesome review! Can I ask how your ability compares now to when you were younger? I know you dont do rails and gaps etc now but your tech must just as good.
I'm pretty close to what I could do. I could just do things with more pop and easier. There are also some tricks that I just can't seem to get back. I used to be able to to fakie 5-0 fakie flip out pretty easy and flip tricks out of manuals a lot easier. Just can't seem to make my legs pop the same. I'm working on it though and there are definitely improvements.
No, that doesn't sound very profitable!😂 But my dream is to have a small private park. If that ever materializes I will consider what the options could be for giving back to the skate community.
I got two questions. One have you tried the CCS complete in comparison? And second what are the most solid cheaper trucks. I like my board tight. I used to skate for like 15 years but I haven’t in like 7 years.
