Thank you for all your guidance! My shop is about 3 weeks-4 weeks old and I just reached over 10 sales!! Didn't make 1600, but made at least a little bit of profit. 😎
I admire your stamina and your tenacity. Etsy sounds like they don’t make it easy at all to be on their platform and it’s so expensive. I can’t imagine a company taking so much profit from people.
What ETSY doesn't tell you is they take an additional 15% of orders made through offsite ads. So it's really about 25% of your orders in fees + your daily ad spend which adds up (pun intended) - Definitely gets a lot of eyeballs though and helps you build your brand. Personally, I think it's best to only run them on the weekends when most people are using ETSY. Really great video Alissa, thank you.
Great video! One other valuable thing from the ads that can’t be seen in the ROI calc is that customers come back again and again - repeat customers make ads worth it to me.
Alissa, i was easily able to find your store from this video, i'm not into stealing other peoples ideas on Etsy. Just a friendly warning, make sure you blur all the possible information that could lead someone to copy your ideas! peace and love from canada
Thanks for the vid! I've been researching Ads before trying them out and had a few questions. Maybe I overlooked something, but I'm curious about some things when you're doing your overall profit math at around 3 minutes in. Does the "Revenue" indicator ONLY take into account the sale total, or does it also account for the fees? For example, on 63 sales, you'd also have the $0.20 relist fee per transaction, the 5% fee for the item sale price, the 3% fee + $0.25 per transaction fee which, give or take, would subtract an ADDITIONAL $98 and some change dropping the profit to about $254. Is this the case, or do the columns take these fees into account already? Since Etsy is charging per click for ads, I can't imagine they would NOT then charge their usual fees on the transaction. Still, it's $250+ you MIGHT not have made otherwise and is STILL money in your pocket. Of course, if you sell physical items, the profit is again lower because you have costs involved. Any help here would be great! Thanks!
For physical products, the minimum ROAS must be $ 6, which is not obtainable. Advertising on Etsy is too expensive, a maximum of 15% of the price of the goods is allowed for the price to be available to the customer. There is no way to make any adjustments on Etsy, and that is bad, because we have no control over where we want to advertise.
something i dont understand: i have my ad budget set to $25 per day on 20ish listings. and its only spending 50 cents per day and not giving out hardly any impressions. whats wrong?
You get charged up to $25 a day, it's less because it charges based on clicks. If it's not getting many clicks or impressions you might need to tweak your titles and tags, yours may be too obscure.
Hey Alissa! Would love it if you could make a video about how to effectively fill out /make story pins! Since it's a new feature on Pinterest, is it different than filling out regular pins? Thanks!! You always kill your Pinterest game!
I think the profit is too low. If you hadn't turn off the other products you'd lose money. Most peope will lose money with Etsy Ads, which I think were created with the only purpose to send more money to Etsy. On Ebay you'll only pay for the click that converts to a sale, so Ebay makes sure it targets the right people to the product page. On the other hand Etsy doesn't care who clicks on the products because it will make money anyway (even when the products don't sell). It's a "win/win" situation for Etsy.
Yes, fair if you're only interested in converting Ad clicks to sales. In my opinion, that's a short term gain. Here is how I see it: Short term gain = profit from ads. Long term gain = Ranking higher in algorithm because of conversions/listing performance (showing up in suggested and higher in Etsy search. I was getting more "organically" too after I started doing well with ads because of how the algorithm works), Market Research (A/B testing (know i have keyword data and understand what style and copy works on my main photos) More Market Research (chatting with shoppers and customers ie. inquiries/requests that help me make my product even better and/or make new products I know people want and learning how they found me so I can double down my efforts ie. Pinterest), Email List Growth (which is KEY to building a long lasting business) Social Proof (of course more sales meant more chances for customers to leave feedback which only helps make more sales). I would do it again.
Bingo! I think it's important for everyone to note that etsy takes a certain amount from ads as well. So you really have to work around that factor when running an ad.
@@AZHARARTGALLERY ads are usually not a good way for beginners. Advertise for yourself by making and Instagram or tik tok. Be very interactive and comment on photos you like, but don’t spam people. I just got 7 orders in 3 days just updating my Etsy and having plenty posted.
@@rainbowlibra How can shipping be killing you when you're supposed to hide the shipping cost in the item price? The customer is supposed to pay for shipping not you. If you offer free shipping that doesn't mean you pay for it....it means you raise the price of all your items to cover it.
Hi Melania, Can I ask if you validated the demand for your offer? And if so, how many visits have you had on the single listing you feel has the most potential? A lot of things can be explained by looking at your numbers :)

Hi. Thanks for your video. i'm a canver survivor mom and i just started a shop this Feb. In a month i've had 7k ad views, 116 clicks, 11 orders from ads. I have a little more profit from organic traffic than ads, like 65/35. Can you give me a tip how i can make bigger conversions via ads? I only do $1 for testing. Thank you.
Great video as always Alissa! Love the idea of freebie making your email list grow but is Etsy ok with you doing that? I know they usually don't like when sellers promote their websites on Etsy
Ma'am your videos are so motivating and clear 🙂 it gives me a boost each time I tap on your videos .. thanks for giving so much tough and true info here.
I think a new shop will rank low in etsy's search results, a lot of people won't turn page 2 to see more products. so how do you get the extra traffic cause ads traffic is not all your traffic. and if someone advertise the same keyword you use, how etsy decides which one ranks higher? higher bid price?
IMO if one thinks it's worth that tiny profit margin (spending $500 to make $800) then you don't know biz or average profit margins. No biz would survive long doing things this way, it's insanely low.
Hey there! I have two videos already that can help you with this! Listing desc: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gzNIidRk8Ws.html Keywords: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hJDp2K8Ve_o.html
Great video! I have been thinking to sell digital product on Esty, but my question is how to drive traffic to a brand new shop without any views? Is Ad a good idea to get started?
Hi, I like all your videos. You mentioned that you top up your daily budget if you selling and your money are run out. How you see if your add money are used and how do you do your daily top up? Any chance someone has phone number or email to Etsy? I search all websites and I can't find it. I need to speak with real person not just computer 😀😀 Thank you Marci
good question, but I wouldn't want them too stop showing my ads. Rule of 7's... people need to see a marketing message at least 7 times before they take action.
@@AlissaRose awesome 😎 are you seeing a pattern on that regard say your current sales converters always hit frequency of >2 or they just don’t report frequency?
Love your videos!! But I have a question... How does this promote your freebie to get people on your email list? Is it in your ad? Or just a link to it on in your Etsy shop?
Hi, Alissa at what stage did you get the customer's email, before they bought or after. As I haven't run ads before on Etsy, I'm not sure how this works but I am familiar with running Facebook ads to a landing page.
I would start collecting e-mail addresses asap. Extremely valuable. But there is some important things to note about your freebie and your welcome sequence. I have 2 videos about e-mail that will help you on my channel :)
Hi Alissa, thank you for this video! I just started new and have one question I can't find the answer to in advance. If I have 100 listings and advertise 5USD/day, does this amount spread on all listings or will it be 5USD PER listing (500USD per day)? Thank you :)
You can choose which listings to advertise and then it's spent on all the listings, but Etsy's algorithm will spend different amounts on each listing depending on how they're performing according to their algorithm.
Hi Alissa. I started my etsy shop a month ago and I haven't really uploaded another product. I'm planning on starting over again but I'm not really sure if it's a good thing to do 😔 I just feel like I'm not doing great on my chosen niche as of the moment.
I heard you say you get people to sign up to your email list. How do you get them to sign up without violating Etsy rules? I thought your only allowed to put a link to home page in your etsy about page.
Hey Alissa, thanks so much for your content! It's so helpful. I have a digital product that has slowly been selling and there isn't a lot of other similar items so it's easy to find. Wondering if it's still worth having the Ads On for it anyway?
Hi there, I'm wondering how copyright works with digital products, I'm planning to sell instagram template using canva and I wish if you told us what should / shouldn't do. To avoid legal issues
Hi Alissa, I am running a shop on Etsy and since 1st may my views are dropped and my shop is not available on etsy search however i started ads campaign on my shop but the campaign is not started yet, i contacted to Etsy support and have not get back from here. Can you please advise what happened with my shop, should i close this shop and start new one My shop is not suspended and have not received any email from Etsy Waiting your favorable suggestion Thanks
I'm your new subscriber. After creating an account in canva, I have created a template and downloaded it. I want to sell my template. I haven't created any account in any other selling platform. I don't know what to do next to earn money? Please direct me.
@@jillmorrow3134 I would have to do the actual calculations. they take 5% and .20 for every item sold and then payment processing fee's are 3.5% plus .25 per transaction soo... around ~$310 from the original AD profit of $353. But my "organic" sales were from ads too because ads helped me convert and that boosted me in search and suggested on competitors listings so that's why it was worth it for me.
@@AlissaRose thank you my teacher .i follow you from years . now i am able to create my digital product such as social media posts bundles but my badluck is paypal is necessary for etsy.
If you are okay with spending money to get more data on your shop, then yes it’s worth it. If you’re looking to make a profit, be careful here. I would bundle items so they are at least $10 - $14 a bundle and promote those with a small ad budget until you learn which bundles make you profit and increase the ad budget if you’d like from there.
No, they are absolutely not worth it. What was your profit after fees? I love your videos, but hope you will consider exploring other platforms other than Etsy.
It really depends on your goals. For me they were 100% worth it (cause it wasn't all about instant gratification aka ads converting into sales right away). I wrote this response to someone else and also said almost all of this in the video, but I think it's worth saying again here: If your goal is to make profit (instantly) from ads, then it's fair to say they may not be worth it (depending on a lot of factors) but in my opinion, that's a short term gain. Here is how I see it: Short term gain = profit from ads. Long term gain = Ranking higher in algorithm because of conversions/listing performance (showing up in suggested and higher in Etsy search. I was getting found more "organically" too after I started doing well with ads because of how the algorithm works), Market Research (A/B testing. Now I have keyword data and understand what style and copy works on my main photos) Target Audience Research (chatting with shoppers and customers ie. inquiries/requests that help me make my product even better and/or make new products I know people want and learning how they found me so I can double down my efforts ie. Pinterest), Email List Growth (which is KEY to building a long lasting business) Social Proof (of course more sales meant more chances for customers to leave feedback which only helps make more sales). You could do this all organically too! But to speed it up I ran ads, so again, it's all about your goals! I would do it again.
