I absolutely love watching all your videos you do such a great job! I have always dreamed of having a Kelly croc so my husband ask my SA if she could get me one for Mother's Day this year and they surprised me with a gorgeous K28 GHW Black Nilo Croc Lisse!!! I think the Kelly is so elegant and such a beautiful work of art. I love it so much sometimes I will just stare at it in my display case. I love the shine and that the scales are so uniform across the entire bag as opposed to the Porous Croc scales going from small to larger (but I love Porous croc too! : )
Thank you for all the detail information! I recently bought a lizard bag from Hunting Season, a brand you once recommended. It is gorgeous! Thank you and please keep sharing less common brands that you like 👍
I absolutely love exotics! Well, mainly lizard, alligator and croc so my first big girl bag was a work tote (almost a cousin of the Coach Rogue) made from caiman croc hide by a hobbyist and it's perhaps my most cherished bag in my collection. I have a corporate job so I refrain from being too flashy at work and my bag does not draw much attention to it. While I love the Birkin and the Kelly Mini Mini (Pochette?), I can't justify playing the game for calf or goatskin (although I do have the 24 verso in Mysore) when I can get exotics in that price range. With that said, I can totally understand gunning behind Hermes exotics and going full throttle lol. A Birkin 35 in Vert Anis in alligator/croc would be so fun! I've long let go of if whether luxury goods are "worth it" or not, because ascribing inherent value to any Veblen good is futile and at the end of the day, if it makes you happy and you have the means for it after taking care of your responsibilities, go for it! Thanks for the video, GPS ❤🧡💛
Nice Q&A! I love looking at exotic skins, do find their aesthetics so beautiful but I had never ever tried to learn more about them. So, your comprehensive description did help a lot: it felt like attending a mesmerizing class! We are both on the exact same page regarding Louis Vuitton (I used to be all about Marc Jacobs back in the 2000s but the last time I stepped into a LV boutique 3 years ago, I immediately run away coz totally horrified by all the atrocities at an extortionate price displayed here and there ) and the Birkin vs Kelly battle (The B is too recognizable nowadays and I always attract undesirable attention whenever I carry it in town. And the fact that it is an open tote makes me even more nervous) ...
So glad you enjoyed learning more about Hermès' exotic offerings. As beautiful as they are, personally, I rarely if ever wear the very few exotic pieces I own as they're so incredibly delicate. I couldn't agree more on LV..it hasn't been the same since Marc Jacobs left, and while there were a handful of pieces I love(d) from Kim's era..most of them were quite commercial 😞 It's sad to see a brand with so much heritage and potential sacrifice their values for hype.
Hello MK! Wholeheartedly agree about modern LV. I still buy and enjoy and love my pre-2015 (usually much older) LV pieces, but nothing new. I won't even touch the classics because I don't trust the quality. I hear so many horror stories and they are not all fictional or exaggerated either. If I had the dollars, I would not hesitate to buy the hard sided cases and trunks. Hoping all is good for you!
@@danielintheantipodes6741 thanks for your kind message Daniel! You are absolutely right to stick to your pre-2015 bags! As for myself, the only item I may still buy at Louis Vuitton are their sunglasses… as they do produce them in XL size, aka the only size in which my gigantic head fits in!
Great video 👍🏻 Regarding the availability of the hardware. I think for example the color gold is more often produced with ghw. It’s much less common to see it with phw. Same as for box leather. Ive been trying to get my hands on a K35 sellier in black box with phw for over 2 years. I’ve been offered the bag 3 times but with ghw. The beauty of the different hardware is that it emphasizes the underlaying tone of the leather color. I have a B40 in blue brighton. Which was my first special order. I wish I’d chose ghw for it but I decided for phw. The color looks much warmer with gwh. Which I really like.
I never thought I'd see the day but I'm actually starting to think i might want an ostrich... like dark blue maybe... i keep hearing how durable they are?? What do you think?
If you love the look go for it 🙌 It a leather that wears beautifully..the only change you'll notice is a slight waxy sheen it may develop over time, but other than that it's pretty hardy 🐥
@@IamGPS I'm just confused about it because i never even liked it before... if you had to choose between Togo, Chevre, or Ostrich... which is hardier, more scratch proof, etc?
It all depends on the color and look you're going for. Personally, I wouldn't have taken my Box Kelly 25 with Gold hardware, as I felt Palladium made it look a lot more modern 🖤
The croc bags I have seen have tended to be very shiny. I like the croc pattern, but not the shine. No idea whether that is true of all croc bags though. Thank you for the video! Have a fabulous week!
@@IamGPS Great news if I ever win the lottery! LOL! Though even then, I suspect that I will opt for my Hermes bags to be in the more durable leathers. I am too clumsy for anything delicate.
Can I ask a Q for the part 2. If you were doing an SO for a Kelly 25 sellier in noir which hardware would you pick: - Gold - Rose gold - brushed gold - permabrass? Thanks in advance 👍
My mom has birkin 30 orange ostrich and no offense..it looks ugly. I don’t tell her because it is her taste and I honestly don’t know how much it was. Regarding Hermes by country is so different! I live in Japan and there is no such thing really as a wish list when it comes to bags. You can tell them what you like and if you are lucky they will call you when they have it (soft wish list I guess!) I wanted to ask a question, how soon is too soon for you to ask your SA if you can get another quota bag? I don’t know about other countries but in Japan we need to ask them directly whether you have any in the stock and it feels awkward asking it over and over. I wonder if you have any tips 🤔
Haha to each their own I guess..but personally, I'm not the biggest fan of ostrich bags either 😅 I'd gently mention wanting to add another bag to your collection and see where the conversation goes, but you must ask otherwise they might not know that you're looking for something 🖤
