In Canada you can still buy SKS. Ukraine has thousands of Mosins (altho I don’t know if they are still in storage or being used during the current crisis)
Great video there Big Sam. Christ is the absolute truth and you are absolutely correct. The term rare suffers the same fate as the word awesome. When something is truly awesome it strikes awe in the individual. Seeing the redwoods in California is awesome, seeing a Porsche on the highway is not. In our language today we might use the same word, awesome, to describe both instances. I'm sure you are well aware that we see the same thing in the AK world. "Russian AK-74 Very Rare" is a common title on Gunbroker. Now let that sink in... very rare is a common title. A lot of people will use rare and expensive interchangeably and that just doesn't work. A Mosin Nagant 1907 carbine is both rare and expensive but a Barrett M82 is just expensive. On a side note a rare steak is wonderful.
Big Sam, great topic. Please show production numbers of each variant and current numbers of each variant. The numbers will speak for themselves. Please show a graphic.
It seems most guns are pretty hard to come by here compared to otger parts of the country. And when you can find them theyre hundreds of dollars more expensive than i see people talk about online
I would suppose that one could say that if there were 37 million made... than one could say that "100 thousand" could be considered "rare"🤔 🤣😂🤣😂 Over all a great point Big Sam - an SVD is rare in the U.S.... but not so much in Syria.
Hey Big Sam, I was recently cleaning my Mosin when disaster struck. I got an acetone based cleaner on the wood stock by mistake, and stripped off some of the finish. I'm having a real hard time deciphering which finish it is, because i would like to seal the bare wood with the same finish. I ordered flaked shellac and bought denatured alcohol because that is what everyone (or mostly everyone) is saying the finish is. However, I am seeing some people claim that it is a lacquer finish instead. Do you know anything about this?
Do all Mosins fire the same cartridge 7.62x54R, I heard the Finnish one fires a 7.62x 53R , but heard you can shoot both out of the same gun, while other people say it damages the gun to fire the 54R round.
Finnish mosins are not super rare but are desirable. So you mix rare and desirable you have a higher value. You can have a rare car that is ugly but nobody wants it.
Until this video I never paid attention to your channel icon , I guess it was because I saw you wearing the Skillet tee shirt . Check out an older band - Rez Band and a collaboration Kaiser & Mansfield
People use the term rare in the context of how much something is worth. If your selling, your pitch is trying to convince the buyer to pay more. You can buy any Mosin at any time you want one. There is no need to wait if you have the money. The only truly rare mosin is the one you don't know exists.
For some reason Canada has the most Russian and Finnish rifles. They are not rare in Canada. I think I have about 12 different models of mosins. And the rare 1949 sks. There are plenty of 1949 sks’s in canada.
