It's no secret I love Arma 3, but let's be real, would Arma be anywhere near it's current popularity (even 8 years after release) without new mods being released almost constantly? It's very cool though to have the ability to do whatever you want in Arma (to a huge degree anyway) - last video we played as MACVSOG in Vietnam, here we are playing a WW2 Operation and in a recent Arma video I was the overall dungeon master in a sort of D&D setting.. Arma is unique, Arma is great, but I will say.. I kinda want Arma 4
Mods have always been the backbone of the ARMA series, even back when it was Operation Flashpoint. So many great memories, especially in the mission editor.
Arma mods even make new game genres like DayZ mod made multiplayer survival games, Arma Battleroyale mod made battleroyale games, RPG mods like Altis Live made GTA V RPG so yes, Arma is still alive thanks to mods and moders.
Simple Answer, Yes. Long Answer, Arma is the new GMod. It has a lot of problems under the hood but, it's a reliable car (game) none-the-less. As everyone gets better PCs it makes the game more playable. I think it was more luck rather than anything else for it's foundations of allowing a sandbox environment that modders were determined to create anything to enhance the game (Milsim, Melee, Jumping, Women, Star Wars, etc).
@@HystericalHuntress I was going to comment exactly this. I remember already back in 2013, running at max graphics, with all the bells and whistles, and crazy resolutions, my GPU was barely being used. And i had the top of the line i7 CPU of that time era. Imagine now, with an RTX 3090, you're probably only going to get 1% gpu utilization.
I think Milsim communities are keeping Arma 3 alive, the game is like a realism GMOD, and I've sunk thousands of hours into the game playing operations in milsim, making missions and making screenshots. Arma 3 has been the centre of my gaming experience on PC and while I've uninstalled it recently as it seems the community is gradually becoming smaller and smaller, with Arma 4 on the horizon I'm looking forward to sinking 9 years into another Bohemia game
From the Advancing stage the colour was much better, more immersion when the colour was toned down. The WWII is way better than normal Arma. Thanks for upload
I picked up Arma 3 awhile back for S.O.G. Prairie Fire. Gotta say if it weren't for the community I've found around that Mod I probably wouldn't play as often.
I'm glad that this game is still alive and I hope that the devs take notes from the mods for when they are making number 4. We don't really need another game to reinvent the wheel but a good stable modable platform.
If you haven't seen the new trailor of their new engine mods from arma 3 will be easly ported from the old engine to the new on, coding wise not as much, that might have to be reworked by the devs who make modifications for the game
Yeah, but also the map editor has always been something I could put more hours to. There is already a lot of potential for variety with the base game let alone DLC and mods when creating missions. Its just a matter of how good you are at using the editor. Im mediocre and still put lots of hours into the editor.
Nebelwerfers sound like all 4 of my cats in distress after they ascended from the depths of Hell, but really what they wanted was food as they all rushed me as I got home from errands.
Yes, like most people in comments I agree this could be like a new military version of gmod. I do think there is far more than that too which draws people in as well. I'll detail my own personal experience as an example below. I remember years ago; I wanted to get a pc because of Arma 3 as it was appealing to make near anything with a level of certain realism to an extent. (When I was seeing Arma 3 mods & the 3den editor for the first time it blew my mind). Even when the AI, Vehicles and other jank the game can throw at you can suck at times.. There is no denying that some pretty awesome experiences, moments, genres & more have come from Arma 3.
Yeah but is there a healthy and consistent community that creates and plays scenarios for this mod? Or do you have to become a certified SQL scripter in order to have fun
Creating scenarios can be done on the fly, it's actually very cool see this video where I showcase it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3QKH431iqKM.html
The map could've been edited a little bit by the Zeus/gamemaster but Arma is make belief 95% of the time tbh, I personally barely notice it anymore, other than when I referenced the truck at the start lmao
