Functional Capacity Exams can be good if they are used the right away. Unfortunately many components of the FCE exam are subjective, which allows the test results to be challenged.

Thank you for post. I was on long term dis. 5-7 yrs. I’ve been denied after my appeal. They were watching me and saw me driving,walking and grocery shopping. I never claimed I couldn’t do these activities on good days but do pay after overdoing the activities. I have CF and FM etc. is actual spying legal? Was told I could’ve back to sedentary work as a RN in hospital. Guess I should call to get questions answered.

My claims adjuster said she was ready to make a settlement offer. Then she stopped answering calls and emails. I've had 2 failed rotator cuff surgeries . Can she just not settle with me at all?

DG: Assuming you have a short-term or long-term disability claim, the carrier has the discretion to determine if and when they want to negotiate a lump sum resolution. And they are under no obligation to make an offer, even if they initially seem inclined to do so.

Knee problems are a part of my SSDI claim. Would a FCE hurt my application for disability since my upper body strength isn't limited?

My functional capacity test was for light work. I worked as a CNA for 30 years, which is medium work. Why did they use light work, for my test?

You would need to contact the facility that performed the FCE to determine the standards they used and why.

Vicky Paulson:?Vicky I empathize with you and hope you were able to get the help you need. I am a 60 year old ER/OP/ICU RN and was told I could go back to sedentary work. I started my career as a CNA and know how much work is expected of a CNA. Most people have no clue

If doctor never prescript FCE, insurance company can't force you one if doctor never ordered?

hi there. I am dealing with post concusion syndrome from last 2 months due to my head injury at work. wsib have asked me if iam able to attend CFAE (Cognitive Functional Abilities Evaluation) . if i dont atttend can thy ruin my case?? in other words do i have to go??

It depends if your disability policy requires you to attend and examination.
