Are Ginger Tabbies Really As Friendly As People Think? 

My sister’s fiancé has an orange tabby that’s the same age, he follows me around everytime I visit them and meows at me when he needs water or wants to go outside. He really loves when I pet his little head.

I do love my Theo! However, sweetheart isn't what comes to mind. He's a little Dennis the Menace. Should have made his middle name mischief! LOl

That’s what Jackson Galaxy has said about some gingers. My daughter’s first ginger, Babbage, was a Dennis the Menace-he would escape from any room where he was confined; he would knock things off; and was notorious for trying to steal food. He was known to stand on his hind legs, brace himself on the table with one paw, and reach behind a meat platter with the other to start pushing it off the table! Needless to say, meat platters had to be placed in the dead center of the table to be out of his reach.

My 2nd cat was very sweet and friendly. He had a special bond with me. He was a big red tabby cat.

Not true. In most cats the level of their vocality is merely a trait of their personality. I've had three red boys and none of them have been especially vocal; one purrs so quietly that you can't even hear him unless you have your ear pressed up against his gloriously fluffy side. Now, want a REAL vocal cat? Siamese. It's literally a trait of their breed!

Then you haven't heard a Siamese or a Bengal. Now THEY like to chat. They have to tell you all about their day - in great detail.

@@missg.5940 My ginger, Sylvester, likes to ride in the car, and walks on a leash. I never had to train him. He just took to it. I was told that Ginger's can be more dog-like than other cats.😺😼

Mine is a bit of a jerk too. He does like to hang around me, so I can see the emotionally clinging part fitting him, but he is not a cuddler at all. He just has to be in whatever room I am in. Hmmm...perhaps he just wants additional recon before he plots his next attack on my legs.

Almost a yr back a ginger cat walked into my apartment. He's so cute and friendly.

@@SunayanaSB1998 11 years ago I was living on property that my mother inherited from her brother. I had a black and white female tux, that I had made an indoor cat out of. But, this ginger tom started coming in my yard. I couldn't get near him at first, but one afternoon I had to toss out some bad lunchmeat. I tossed it over the fence into the overgrown vacant lot next door. Up popped the ginger tom. He immediately turned around to get the lunch meat. The next time he was in my yard, he came right to me. Then he started coming inside. Then he started meowing at the door every night to be let inside. A year or so later I moved, but I didn't take the ginger tom because I figured he was doing the same routine at somebody else's house.

@@staceysolomon1265 - No, I do not own a cat. However; every so often; I "borrow" the neighbor's short-haired ginger tabby. I've dubbed that cat, "Ginger Tigger." To visit me, that sweet cat has to run the gauntlet consisting of 4 dogs and sporadic traffic. I can only hope my cat pal is safe on her way to visit me and on her return home (across the street here). At one time, when I lived in the country, my family had over thirty cats. The majority of the animals were abandoned. My English grandmother owned three cats -- all English greys (naturally). She also lived near a guy who housed one-hundred cats in a Quonset hut which was left over from WWII. Cheers/ciao -- W

A ginger cat used to live across the street from me. Whenever I opened the front door, I had to be careful she wouldn’t come inside. I have two cats and one of them hates other cats and is very territorial.

@@barbaravyse660 -- My ginger tabby pal from across the street comes in if I leave the door open even for a few seconds! Ha! Yes, I can understand the territorial nature of cats. I once owned thirty cats (mostly abandoned). Each cat "claimed" certain areas of my family barn. Take care. 😺

That’s how all cats are. It’s not selfishness, it’s just their nature. They like initiating the affection.
