Aye Trey I heard the gtos had problems with the fuel lines an things that should be replaced when purchasing or before purchasing the cars is this true or not an if it is what all should i look for to be replaced before I buy one since its my dream car?
My brother got one about 4 months ago while he was working away from home, 70k miles on it, 2006, (headers, full catback exhaust, intake and some tires. He bringed it to my hometown here at San Luis Mexico and man its indeed a great car and one that nobody sees everyday, it's getting rare and it packs a punch!
I never though it was slow.... I knew it was “heavy” .... a lot of people get surprised when I smoke them!!! ... I love my NA 421ci stroker puts in work!!
For the time it was released it wasn’t really slow but to GM fans I think it was. It wasn’t a step up in performance but a step up in comfort/quality along with the CTS-V
The 04-06 gto is a real true to heart muscle car. Just like the challenger is. They both derive from sedan platforms. So when you think of the gto as a (400lb lighter) direct competitor to the challenger and not to the pony car Camaro/mustang it starts to make a lot more sense, the humble styling, even the 3700 pound curd weight (which is not that heavy compared to the modern offerings).
Trey, a week ago I just bought my 05 Goat with 52,000 on the clock! Your channel has been immensely helpful for me planning my project, and I’m even gonna daily it!! Thank you so much and keep throwin vids our way!!
Thanks for all the insight on the GTO!! I just bought a 2004 model. 5.7 liter and it turns heads and I get nothing but compliments! Love this car! Fun to drive....
I never understood the "GTOs are heavy" comment. Heavy when compared to what? A Corvette? If so then everything is a tank by comparison. 2006 GTO curb weight = 3,725 2006 Mustang GT = 3,600 2019 Mustang GT = 3,705 2006 CTSV = 3,850 2018 CTSV = 4,141 98-02 F bodies = 3,500 2010 Camaro = 3,750 2018 Camaro SS= 3,685 2019 Challenger RT = 4,232 2006 Corvette = 3,214
@@TreyHerrera at the time the GTO did have the nicest interior and people forget, back in 2004-2006, there weren't many V8 rwd options. A 100 to 200 lbs difference to me didn't justify being classified as "heavy". Especially when that could be remedied by what you mentioned.
Gto came with an iron block why dont any1 say this & new camaros & corvettes hav alumium blocks if u put an ls3 in a the GTO it would be 109 pounds lighter making it 3616 boom its not heavy just an iron block
U put some cars manal & some v6? First 06 mustang auto is 3650 & 2010 camaro v8 ls3 is 3913 i gota 06 gto with ls3 init & lightin down too 3500 after i get my wheels wana sc itul be still less weight than stock around 3675 with sub frame con.& 2010 camaro dont hav a spare tire eather ur right thou its dumb every1 says gto heavy but really its Not with the ls3 init its way lighter than a 2016 camaro prob.100 pounds bc they hav a alum lt moter inum & mustang does too & the vett & the caddy & gto gastank in trunk thats so dumb it got screwed by gov.thats.25 more pounds from cage around it the austrailian holden dont its 3700 pounds im with u thou its a dumb too say a gto heavy when 2010 camaro 3913 with alum ls3 lol it be over 2tons with ls2 init
My 06 hangs with 5th gen camaros pretty good. I have no complaints, love the car, even after owning it for 13 years. Someday I will do some heavy mods. I love your content and look forward to your uploads.
Seen a few of your vids now, and love the GTO coverage. Im coming from a 1979 Z28 Camaro project to a 2004 GTO. Your vids are damned helpful and have great delivery. You've got yourself another sub, Sir. Keep 'em comin'.
Fair points bro! Those of us in the Honda community make similar if not the same arguments when it is said "You did that much work just to get 200hp?! Lol". Lighter cars built at a different time. Plus most cars from the factory are made to be comfortable for average consumers - they're watered down essentially. Remove the hindrances and voila! The power almost magically appears!
Hell all the new Corvette and camaro's got there new platform from the 04-06 gto's, look it up people, Thanks to you 2 man for repping our gto's ,luv my 200 mph GTO 😎
@@TreyHerrera Man homie, I want to so bad! I had just about full bolt-ons and then the transmission started slipping bad. Sold it to one of my guys, but I wanted to keep building on it. It's all good though. I got a 2010 Grand Cherokee SRT8 now. But your channel helps me remember the good days. Keep up with the amazing content homie. Definitely gained a subscriber
Hi Trey . Im in UK Got a Monaro VXR 5.7 but Over Here its 387bhp. LS1Corvette. But on this Don't have Twin Pipes Fuel tank is much bigger So just 1 on the Left. Great Vids mate Cheers .
I love the joe budden podcast like intro.. great info on this and other vid with what not to mod. You discussed alot on manual cars, what about the Automatic gtos?
Being a gto owner it is pretty slow compared to other cars now a days. 1,000 hp is the new 500 hp from back when the gto was made. Still a great fun car. I'll never get rid of mine.
My 66 was right close to 5,000 pounds and ran 11,s in 1/4 mile, and all I did back in the early 70,s headers,750 double pump Holley, hi lift Isky cam,on 70,s pump gas
I'm glad you love your car...enjoy it build a track car on the side. I love all my cars even knowing they are not the fastest out there. I just wash them take t tops or targa off depending on the car and sit in traffic waiting on the thumbs up.
These days, everyone is a keyboard warrior. Your car is sick. Those who say it's slow, ask for their time slip. Or see what they have that's faster. 9/10 have nothing. Don't listen to haters. Let's ride soon man. I'll fill you in on my build too
No more needs to be said after that last sentence bc that it is very true. I have scion tc 05 ( blasaahabalah(haters)) but I've have done almost everything can to a legalese daily to the engine for just raw (emphasize on RAW power) no turbo or charger yet and I get alot of smiles to frowns real fast. Just want reiterated on his closing statement. "Doesn't matter what you own you can make it fast"
I have a ton of race cars from the gnx too my g8 gt my gto is my favorite car i drive i have a ws6 01 with the 6.0 its dam fast but the gto get it every time the only thing that runs as clean is my 57 bel-air 427 twin TURBOS it moves all lightened but my gto is not stock at all its about the same as the vette and the Cadillac if they were all stock
Lucas L My stepdad has a stock scatpack Charger that i have raced a couple times in my mostly stock 06 gto, the GTO keeps up until it’s time to shift, then that dodge 8 speed out does my shifting ability.
Here's my 2 cents. EVERYBODY complained about the Fbody interior and Corvette interior. The GTO was ahead of it's time. The suspension and interior were light years ahead of most GM products, EVEN the Corvette interior that time was in my opinion inferior to the GTO. Also this platform is now 15 years old now? Kinda stupid to compare this vehicle to new cars. I would say you could compare it up to the model year 2014 cars. From that point on these newer cars have such an advantage. From engine updates to transmission updates. Now cars have 8 and 10 speed transmissions that keep the car in its powerband. This car is more of a touring muscle car, if such a category exists. Very unapreaciated and underestimated vehicle. I traded my 2001 WS6 for my 2006 GTO 6 speed cyclone grey metallic. Let me tell you what, you can't compare I wouldn't trade it for anything even a new performance vehicle. Easy to work on and now a lot of electronics b.s. to go bad. I know this particular vehicle has it's own quarks but once you drive one you would understand.
I’m planning on doing similar stuff, adding an intake, headers, midpipes with h pipe, and a tune (stock muffler). I’m an 05 though, with an automatic as well but I also have a 1 piece aluminum drive shaft and a shift kit. Eventually I’ll do suspension but I also have lighter 18” rims. I would think that would help me keep up as well but I will see
Id say it has more to do with the people that own them and not the platform. Most people dont do the simple weight reduction you can and allot of them are riding around with hot air intakes wondering why they lost to a 5.0
I don’t have any major mods and I feel like it’s already to fast for the street. I have my racecars for the track, the gto is just fine for me when I want to play with mustangs on the street.
I have a 2006 dodge magnum srt8 that has a 5.7L hemi weighs 4800lbs and I beat a jaguar f type weight isn’t ALWAYS a bad thing because it helps counter tirespin and it’s a fucking station wagon
On UK pump fuel 99 octane the Monaro hits 60mph in 5.3 with the ls1 5.7l , so not slow by any stretch of the imagination. Where I find it struggles is pulling hard once your in 4th. Although ive had mine round past 160 just as I shifted to 6th and started running out of road. All this on the stock car apart from a cat back and a k&n in the air box. I'm also carrying a heavy ass kicker sub in the trunk, plus spare wheel and all the other bracing you mentioned. My Instagram is monaro_uk
Guys it’s a stage 2. I think that’s only a body kit, suspension and maybe exhaust. I could possibly see a stage 3 outpacing as them it’s supercharged so what Noah is saying makes sense
Why do you feel like you need to defend the gto? Who gives s duck what anyone thinks. Someone says something, tell them let’s line em up. If it people on here, more than likely they don’t even have a fast car. They just running their mouth. Went to the track Sunday. I made four passes. Every car I lined up with, I beat. My gto only runs 11.20 @125
By this video, I guess you're talking about the "Holden" GTO, and not the "Pontiac" GTO. The Aussie car has an LS motor which, (if you're into computers) has unlimited potential to scream. I think the only people considering them slow are on Street Outlaws, and Fast and Furious, and don't reside in the real world.
AUSTIN KEYS do you have a list? I would be very interested I just got a 06 m6 yesterday I’ve been looking up Weight reduction info online but I don’t come up with much
Hassan Osman Trey hit everything in his video that you can ditch. I also ditched my back seats, replaced my front seats with light aluminum seats. Rear door panels. All new suspension so lost weight there and carbon fiber hood. You have to loose a lot to get where I am at, probably not something you want to do if daily driving it. Hope that helps.
GTO’s are not slow! Who says that? Oh yeah, people who don’t have a car faster than yours! 🤗 I have a Foxbody Mustang..... call them slow if u want to, stop light to stop light she’s a nasty lil devil!
