As Rishi Sunak has started the countdown for the General Election on July 4, here are some of the key policy battlegrounds the Tories and Labour are expected to go head-to-head on.
After months of speculation, Rishi Sunak has called a General Election that many expect Labour to win.
But much can change during a campaign that will be dominated by contentious issues and heated debate across the UK.
So are they ready? Andrew Marr is joined by an expert political panel to analyse this.

It matters not who we vote for, it really makes no difference. What we really need is not currently on offer. The entire world needs a completely new way, where the earth and all living beings/animals/habitat come first!!! A leader who doesn't subscribe to excessive profit/materialism/greed/hatred/money/manipulation/mind control and general mindless narcissism! The big change is on it's way, one never seen before. It's complicated, the realignment of politics as we went through brex1t was masked by a single issue. currently People Under 50 are identifying more with left of centre views especially in urban suburban areas. Older working class especially male are becoming extremely socially Conservative It's soft in that there will be a new coalition formed, the one Boris gained power with is completely busted and the one that Corbyn failed with is now reforged moving towards the centre.

Because the Tories have been so bad. No one likes Labour, they just hate the Tories. Kind of like many people who voted for Biden did so because they hate Trump. 20% ahead for 2 years and the Labour vote is "soft". I think not. I agree with Marr, at least 100 majority Hopefully a majority of Scottish seats too.

the comments around both parties having similar missions is irksome as the "change agent" aspect is all about "how" they tackle the issues and in most cases there is a marked difference in approach...also somewhat damning to suggest that voters are easily influenced by better weather or sporting events, if that's the case we are all doomed

The Tories have had 14 years to show the nation they're capable of running the country , I've heard of teething problems but 14 years & still can't get anything right is a bit much.

I have concerns about voting for Labour, as I don’t think they’re offering a significant alternative to the Tories. I’m strongly considering voting green or independent. Conservatives will lose anyway, so I think it’s safe to try voting for someone other than the 2 major parties. Vote for the policies!

The country flip flops between Tory and Labour after every 3-4 general elections and has done with clockwork precision since the 1950s (aside from one blip in 1970). The conservatives have been in for the last 4 general elections - so i'd say a Labour win was pretty much inevitable this time round no matter what the track record of either party has been.

It cannot be agreed that the UK will be different in six weeks time, as many commentators say they are different cheeks of the same backside. I think many of us in the UK absolutely agree with that all of the mainstream parties, they represent their own views, they are self-serving...we need electoral reform and a proper challenge to the establish way of doing things, not more of the same...enough is enough ! When will the mainstream media properly represent the views of the people, as opposed to trying to convince us that the two main parties are all that there is...we deserve and need better politicians, we need our country back for the benefit of its population, and the ability to be heard....not more of the same !
