It's amazing how they can't just ask the teams for permission to some sound files or to ask to record the siren and just put it in. Same with getting permission for goal songs.
The broadcast audio from the Blackhawks sounds different because they moved the horn into the rafters as opposed to below the Jumbotron when they got the new one. In arena it sounds decently accurate
NHL 23 gets a MONUMENTAL F for taking out "full broadcast" in the presentation modes. If one of your biggest points is featuring a full broadcast, you'd probably want to keep and expand on... "full broadcast".
I wish the Red Wings would bring back the real Joe Louis Arena horn. Or even a better recording. The recording used at LCA just isn’t a good one compared to the horn used in the NHL game. That one is more true to the actual horn than the one used in real life

ARI: I dont think EA knew of the horn change when they made the game since the move to Mullet was so sudden and that the horn wasn't played until the second home game in November (the games are always released in October). They prob assumed that the Yotes would use a recording during their stay, like the rest of the hockey community did. BOS: no thoughts BUF: Last year the team used 2 blasts so they prob got the recording then. Horn could be a little crisper as well CGY: pretty accurate but its too quiet imo CAR: dogsh*t CHI: the ea horn is weaker and is a little sharp (higher in pitch); those who think this is just outdated are trippin hard, cause the horn was always wrong. COL: horn is weak, not as crispy, and a little sharp. CBJ: dogshit DAL: pretty accurate but its a little weak and missing some tones. DET: This is far outdated. The new recording is flat (lower in tone), has much more bass and is quieter. EDM: Rexall, anyone? New horn is a little louder and sounds different because they added more bells when they moved to Rogers Place. FLA: no criticism LA: Pretty accurate but needs to be a little longer and WAY louder. MIN: better than it used to be by far, but it has too much treble and needs to be louder/crisper. MTL: accurate imo but maybe it could be updated. NSH: MAKE IT LOUDER. It also has more tones and only one blast NJ: Too much treble and it's a little sharp. Also, just want to say that when they first put in Seattle's horn, they had a WAY better effort than they did with first putting out Vegas (remember when they just had a random train horn as a placeholder? 💀)
I just wish there was a way to mod in your own horns but this is console games we're talking about here not PC like it could be but isn't for whatever god forsaken reason. even then when the games were on PC there was little to no modability in things like the uniforms, teams, and other things that wouldn't actually affect online play. It would change stuff on your end but would be basically uneffected on the other end.
Who is here after leaked NHL 24 gameplay videos? For those who are on the Goal Horn Hub Discord, Arizona, Chicago, Detroit, Edmonton, Islanders, Vegas, Washington got updated (according to Carson Lougheed) Also the horns in each EA NHL game are current as of the previous season (given that the games come out before we even hear them ourselves IRL, disregarding preseason)
The horns and songs would really make the game and actually have a singer sing the anthem like how 2k does like cmon we’re spending all this money and we can’t get a different game
As a Sabres fan I disagree with your assessment. The live tv broadcast audio of the goal horn doesn't sound as good or accurate as in in person. NHL 23 gets it a little better.
Sorry to be that guy but the Columbus Blue Jackets horn is more air powered than electric that’s why it has a broken start it’s not broken it just takes in air
So to sum it up, most of the horns are inaccurate or accurate but need improvements. Come on EA, it's not hard to just get recordings of the actual horns from the arenas themselves and add them into the game...ridiculous.
It's not an important enough issue to go through all that. For almost every arena, you'd have to either get someone at the arena to agree to send you a recording of the horn, which then depends on that person actually getting a good, clean recording of it, or you have to send someone to the arena (most likely by flying them), get them access to the arena, and have someone at the arena to sound the horn for them. All of that takes money or effort that could be used towards actually making the game good. Plus the horns aren't even bad. They're improving year to year. This video nitpicks on a lot of stuff. I'd rather see the gameplay itself improved and the game ported to PC than occasionally hear a 100% correct Islanders horn instead of a 90% correct one. There's plenty of stuff to jump on the "EA sucks" bandwagon about but this isn't it.
EA is pathetic. They run a monopoly on these sports games (akin to ESPN in the broadcasting right world), including holding NCAA Football hostage for decades....and they still can't get REAL sampling from the league? For being in business this long and having the relationship they have with leagues, this shouldn't even be a topic. Weak.
