Nurse is over his head and he knows it. Now he sees how demanding over 9 million per might not have been the best call in a profession like sports where you have to actually be worth the money, and millions of people can clearly see your incompetence and will call you out on it at every turn. Darnell has made his own bed.

Remember the words "...take a look at yourself and make a change"? I hope every player who dresses for the Oilers for game 4 of this month's Western Conference final remembers those words from the 1980s Michael Jackson song "Man in the mirror." Darnell Nurse isn't the only Oiler who needs to change the way he has been playing for the Oilers to win this WCF but with the second-highest per season cap hit among players under contract to that team, why not step up at least a bit more.
It's amazing what someone can do when they are are talented and feeling confident. Maybe if TSN (Toronto Sports Network) etc backed off and helped a 20-something work through the kinks, Canada might see a Cup again. Exclude the salary argument because the whole league is inflated. No disagreement about this clip, but the human element is a factor.
To me it feels like he is struggling with balancing the zone D system with reacting to plays in the moment. He retreats to his zone assignment too fast imo

If Vinny gets benched and not Nurse or Ceci i will be concerned cause Vinny isn't the issue Ceci and Nurse is, Nurse and Vinny work more better then Nurse and Ceci
Vinny was actually the D man that got beat on goal 4 in the last game. Sure Skinner should have stopped that shot from robertson but the intial play started on a failed clear from Vinny,
Seven of the goals he's been on the ice for were terrible plays by Skinner and . He takes penalties that no other defenseman takes doing the same things. During the regular season when Nurse was obviously high sticked and cut open, the war room in Toronto had to tell the on ice officials to call a penalty. I understand Nurse is tired. I also understand why. I hope he does well tonight.
Nurse has always been a mid-level defensemen at best. There's too much pressure on him from everyone because of his salary and he's probably feeling it. Good on him for negotiating a high salary but he will never perform at this salary level. I'd blame Oiler's management more than Nurse. Would you turn down $3m more a year simply because you don't think you're "worth it" if your boss offered you such a raise? Everyone would take it. Nurse just needs to play smart to the best of his capability and not try to overplay. Oilers aren't losing because of nurse. Oilers are losing because of Dalla's cherry picking and the Oilers coaching staff not having a proper counter.
