Your channel really helped me to understand what all the differences are between Grips, Handheld only, Split Pad and Pro… for someone about to get an OLED I’ve really needed the Crash Course! Thanks for the great coverage. You really helped me make some good buying decisions; the main one getting the NYXI Hyperion Meteor Light controller (a step up from the ones you reviewed).
Before I had my nyxi joycons I never played in handheld mode but now I play in handheld mode a lot more bc how comfortable and ergonomic they are definitely a must have imo
In terms of dead zone, is there really a big difference comparing with the Hori joycons? I borrowed the Hori ones and they’re fine but I’m really thinking on getting these Nyxi ones instead (because of all the added features that the Hori's don’t have). Of course thank you for the video, great review as always 🔥
I'll no doubt do a Hori VS these video at some point and test it properly but the Hori have always been top notch for me, without trying them side by side right now I'd assume the Hori are just a tiny bit more accurate in terms of deadzone but honestly it wasn't noticeable here at all. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Hori split will always be the better choice and the best joycons for thr such but feature wise and shake firm factor you antsy know this wind hands down
Been hearing so much buzz about these lately, so decided to come back to your video so I could be 100% swayed to buy them. Glad I did, as completely forgot you gave out a discount code. Still works!! Cheers for the 10% off 👍🏻🥳 legend!!
@@128KB Not expecting them for a while, but will do 👌🏻 I've gone a bit mad on the order; got a black and a white version, as not sure which one I'll prefer 😂 will hopefully resell whichever one I like the least. Also went for one of their Pro controllers too. Gotta make the most of that 10% off 👏🏻👏🏻
@@Venison_0904 Oh that's awesome! Go hard or go home right? Haha! Good idea though, I think the white will be amazing, I was a little sad when they sent us the black hahahh
Lots of reviews in Amazon with the L1 or R1 buttons snapped off. Mine did too after 10 months. Prob the best shape for pro joycons but poor build quality.
I dont quite have these but I do have the Binbok Joycons which I absolutely love. There was a bit of deadzone but after a quick update on both controllers using the program all my issues with it are gone. Never realized how much these driver updates could help!
The BinBok ones are identical as far as I'm aware! Ah nice, glad the updates helped, I'm yet to update these, not sure if NYXI offer updates like BinBok do
I bought this with your code a few weeks ago. I think I like Hori better but they're pretty good. One big problem for me is they block both USB ports on the dock.
Ah hope you like them! They're great to have as a spare pair of joycons for any multiplayer for sure! Yeah blocking the usb ports is annoying but I find I only attach them when playing handheld with them
Great video! Subscribed! Just still wondering whether its Dpad had improved ? Just saw a video that Spawn wave removed 4 stickers under the D-Pad and made it work properly on binbox, but im wondering on Nyxi.
I've got a feeling SpawnWave's video was a while back from the first batch. I think they've improved it since then and maybe again after my video but to me it's still not the best but alright
And on a second note, I did all my research before getting large joycons and landed on these...and since then have been shocked at how little I hear ppl talk about them. They are amazing. Changed my switch experience
Thank you for the review! I was looking forward to this video, and I think I can finally make up my mind on which joy con I’m gonna go for. Normally, I don’t leave a comment, but I really enjoy watching your videos, and I can see the effort you put in each one of them. I hope your channel keeps growing because you really deserve more subscribers. Cheers! 😊
Great review as always. Ive been using them for several months now but I can never get used to the sticks snapping at the x y axis. Once you notice this issue, I reckon it's tough to forget about it especially when camera movement is so important. BTW, do you recommend these over the mobapads for handheld?
Thank you! Do you mean that slight click/snap back into place when letting the stick go back to the centre? Since testing controllers I've become increasingly aware of this on all controllers, even the pro controller haha. Tough call, personally I probably prefer the Mobapads for the ergonomics and mainly the mechanical switches in the face/shoulder buttons BUT they do lack wireless and they also have a more noticeable deadzone too. I may have to do a video comparison haha
@@128KB I went ahead and bought them both thanks to your videos. I’m waiting on the Moba’s now. I totally got them for the mechanical switches. Thanks for the heads up on that. 😃
@@GarydeBrown Awesome! Really hope you love them both, the mechanical switches are definitely my favourite thing about them (and the ergonomics, they feel great)!
@@bengeller1670 I gotta say it’s the Mobapad. The mechanical switches feel so good. And the D-pad is fantastic. Almost makes it feel like a new system. I do like the Nyxi’s though, for their wireless ability and think they look nice. But they don’t feel as good in the hand and don’t have the mechanical switches. If I had to choose one, I’d definitely go Mobapad
Bought mine in April retired it today. QC issues most definitely! it was fine for the first month but then pretty much just does its own thing now, totally unusable, I've tried to update firmware on Nyxi Web site but this didn't help. It's a Shame because they look fantastic I've had to step back onto the Hori split pad purely for reliability.
Yea i’ve had my nyxi joycons for about 2 months and besides that slight deadzones I don’t have any complaints but if I’m being petty bc it’s not an official licensed controller the plastic isn’t the best quality but personally that doesn’t bother me but i’m just saying it so other ppl know
I've heard people say this are exactly the same as Binbok's. But somehow I hear way more complains about the Binbok's than I hear about Nyxis, like 2 outa 10. Maybe Nyxi just have better quality control?
They're both made by the same manufacturer, just with different branding put on the box etc. Seems the newer NYXI stuff has been NYXI only though so maybe they've started with their own designs, like the Wizard.
My Left joycon just broke after I tried to fix an issue I was having with my left bumper which refused to respond unless I pressed it very hard and now it only works wireless which means it won't charge. I need something to replace that I can play switch sports with which makes it so much more of a headache because I would literally buy the hori split pad pro. Any ideas anyone?
Ooooo, they look to be identical but with a different colour and some RGB LED's underneath the shell. Internally I bet they're the same. I'll see if we can get hold of some anyway and do a couple videos checking them out, stay tuned :)
What do you mean by 360 joysticks? My pair seem to be calibrated aboslutely fine but I can't say how good the quality control across batches are since I've only tested this one pair
I'm not entirely sure where they get shipped from but we had super fast delivery here in the UK. NYXI seem to have very quick customer service etc whereas BinBok are located in China (ultimately they're the same in the end though) and you can save 10% with our code found in the description!
Thinkin of buying these! Should I go for these or other brands? I want a controller to last me a few years, as my original yellow and purple ones I got for my 11th birthday are wonky.
The NYXI Hyperion are the latest they offer, I haven't tested them yet. They're good 3rd party controllers. There are others out there but many like the HORI Split Pads don't have wireless connection etc.
@@128KB Thanks! I might just buy these as the wireless connection is something I need as I’ll be using them as everyday controllers. I do think all the slight cons this model has can be ignored because the wireless connection is not a small thing. Some people might complain about the battery life, but 4 hours of battery life and being able to charge them separately or together are more than enough, considering this is not an official brand and getting this quality for a 3rd party product is pretty rare honestly
Just finished watching this and probably missed it but what is NFC? Also would you recommend this over others for both handheld and docked play? And again probably missed it but does it come with a block for wireless play?
NFC is near field communication, for Nintendo Switch NFC let's you connect Amiibo figures to certain games etc. the official Joy-Con + pro controller lets you use your Amiibo's via NFC, these NYXI ones do not. These are great for handheld and docked yeah :) and yes it comes with the attachment
@@128KB Ah ok so basically if amiibo's are a priority then you'd need to switch back. Makes sense now. Also what would you say the lifespan of these would be? Need to get new controllers (hence why asking) and have both a wired controller and the joy-cons that came with the switch, but both are probably as used as my switch is.
@@TakanaKyoshi that's correct :) Lifespan really depends on how heavy you are on controllers. I'd say you'd get a good life out of them if you're not throwing them around or putting them in bags full of other items etc. I can't comment on joystick drift yet though but so far they're fine
@@TakanaKyoshi no problem at all, I always advise to do extra research no matter what anyone else says, since they're not you! Best of luck with your decision :)
Oooo it really depends on hand size really and if you want the back paddle. If you have large hands and want the back paddles then these are better. If not then the slims are better!
I don’t care too much for mine. Mostly bc I don’t have them. Ordered it almost a month ago. Even paid more for the “express” shipping. Definitely no need in getting the express shipping. I hope when I do get them that there isn’t any issues bc I can imagine having to send them back and get replacements would take several months.
Have you tried getting the firmware update? My white/milk nyxi controller I've had for over a month I've noticed a few flaws with the left one. It doesn't like recording a screenshot video (you can only hold the button down for 5secs) and it turns off. Then I've noticed when waking up the switch the left controller will turn off when it's synced. Then randomly it will turn off while playing to. My guess is a firmware update will fix these flaws, I have yet to do it.
I haven't tried firmware updates yet, will definitely try it soon. Definitely try updating first to see if it fixes your issues and if not then contact them about it
@@128KB yeah I'm going to see how I go this weekend and if the firmware update doesn't help I'll have to let them know. Just frustrating as I love them.
@@somewherecrazy6835 not so great. Windows 10 and 11 find the program to be a virus and won't let the app download no matter what I do. I've contacted nyxi about it and they sent me a link of the same app that doesn't download.
Im thinking in buying them, but, these joycon develop drift? I understand that their new Wizard controller dont, but im looking for a more "pro" themed controller here, that is why drift is something soo important for me.
Yes, these have the potential to drift, anything with potentiometer modules has potential to drift. The only way to guarantee they won't is hall effect sensors
@@128KB I understand, but as far as i heard, these controllers can take a long time to develop it. Your athena ones drifted already? , and if they did, how long did they took?
Thank you again a great review I myself hunting for a great controller... Still hori has the most accurate sticks in terms of dead zone ... Lets see for future controllers that will surpass hori...
They do have motion controls and they work great but I haven't tried them with Switch Sports. I know BinBok that use the identical controllers to this released a firmware update to work with Switch Sports
I'm sorry, a reviewer gave me bad info. That damn IR on the controller is not for motion control, but a damn CAMERA!!! This alone is a reason to replace Nintendo's joy spy's.
Great review! I also got one recently. Besides the ergonomics and RGB I really like the versatility of the NYXI joypad and not having to switch back to the original joycons if you need a wireless joycon for example.
I followed the link and bought this product. I even paid for extra shipping cost in order to get the product before Christmas. The product was shipped from China which took a week even though I paid for express shipping. It arrived as damaged&empty package. Contacted customer service but but after SEVERAL emails back and forth, only heard contact USPS for refund. Do NOT buy this product. Such Scam.
That sucks massively, never heard of anything having an issue like this. Sadly it's very likely to have issues over the Christmas period due to the sheer overload of couriers etc. Likely damage happened in transit, I've had items entirely lost. Keep at them to get a resolution.
@@128KB I bought for christmas present for my cousin... Problem of international shipping is that sender has to contact the carrier ro resolve the issue but sounds like NYXI will never do so
@@mercesletifer9553 That's really weird, I've tried them myself and none are saying unsecure :/ just google NYXI gaming and see if that's secure, if so you can just enter the code "128KB" at checkout to apply our 10% discount
I got these for $16 on eBay from someone just trying to get rid of them & honestly they are my fav I might have got a bad binbok one but my nyxi ones are way better Btw have you reviewed the power A fusion pro
Tough call, the NYXI are wireless so that's a bonus for sure whereas the Mobapad is handheld only but those mechanical switches are beautiful. Personally I'd probably go mobapad myself
