Tried this mob after you recommended them… I bought and paid for a new Omega Seamaster 600m. Told it was being dispatched, then it had been sold and it was a mistake on their system but when I asked why it was still for sale on their web site I was then advised that they couldn’t sell it to me due to Brexit! However if I’d let them hold the cash, they could order in another example in around 5 week! Interestingly it’s still showing as available almost a week later #very-confused 🤔

Panerai were never made in Florence, cases and movements were ordered from Rolex so mostly it is Rolex who was manufacturing Panerai… The company has lied too many times throughout their communication and this is the reason these watches have lost their credibility and popularity even though their design is nice and unique. But with low prices on the second hand these become interesting…

My first luxury watch was a Panerai, and I'm still a huge fan since I think they make the coolest watches of any brand. Given the recent negative talk about the direction and viability of the brand, it's great to see someone of Adrian's caliber give Panerai the love and support they deserve!

A Luminor Due (42mm) was my second automatic watch. I always loved the design but the thickness was a killer for me. When the Luminor Due came out i tried it on and fell in love with the dial and wearability. Don't care about the 30m i am not going swimming sith it anyways and it's a perfect mix between classy/dressy and still sporty for these summer weekends!

I think a plain, 3-6-9-12 dial with no seconds hand and a hand wound movement is still the best way to go for a Panerai. Just so simple and the hand wound movement means you actually have to flip the crown lock every 3 to 8 days depending on the movement.

First watch I was truly interested in was a Panerai. I’d seen it online accidentally after browsing Omega and Rolex but I’d never seen anything so unique. I was set on working towards purchasing one for myself. I hadn’t fully comprehended the size, though. I don’t have a ton of real estate on my wrist and the watch looked like a shoebox on my forearm. It was a depressing blow to the dream but a lesson in try it on before purchasing. Love the channel! Thanks for the content.

As a diver I could not use any of these watches due to the lack of minute markers on the bezel and dial. Accuracy is key when diving. I know alot of people will say " what about dive computers?" Hi Adrian - I’m a regular viewer of your channel from Hong Kong. Always appreciate your enthusiasm and thoughtful comments. My only suggestion would be a bit more diversification. I know you like to get watches “in hand” but that should not stop you from broadening your content as currently too much focus on Omega, Rolex and Tudor. Would be good to occasionally hear your thoughts on interesting pieces from the independents like Alain Silberstein, FP Journe etc…

I consider myself among the Paneristi, having 4 models. I love the charm and uniqueness of Panerai and visited Firenze several years ago. I myself prefer the older hand-winding models, having a year 2000 PAM055, a 2002 PAM112, a 372, and finally an auto - the PAM1024. People liked to knock PAMs for the size, neglecting to consider the fact that the case size was required because of the pocket-watch movements inside. This and the crown guard became Panerai DNA and I would not have it any other way.

I recently bought a Luminor Pam0796 and absolutely love it. It oozes quality. It’s 44mm - which is the standard size for Panerai- but does not wear too big on my 7” wrist. The 0796 is a ‘destro’ Luminor for left handers so has the crown guard on the other side. Very few watchmakers cater for left handed people who prefer to wear their watch on the right wrist. The only other example I can think of is the Tudor Pelagos.

The PAM0321 is my first and up to now only luxury watch. I searched carefully before I bought it new on Chrono24. An important criteria for me was having functions I would find useful and while I’ll never dive with it, I find it cool that it can go down to 300 meters. What I love about it besides history, in your face presentation, is the fact that it’s basically a travel watch. GMT, easy time zone adjustment, date and power reserve. 3 day automatic. Love the leather strap with matching stitch color. Display back. A watch for me has to be functionally useful,
@ernestrobles1510

I wasn’t interested in Panerai for a long time because of the size of most models. But I tried on the gmt version and bought it. It gets a lot of wrist time, looks distinctive, and as you say, it wears comfortably.

Nice video Adrian. A point I think worth making with brands in the richemont group (more than SWATCH and LVMH I feel) is that the pressure seems to be off every brand to fill every segment - they seem quite happy for panerai to be a one trick pony as long as that trick is doing ok, likewise JLC, Cartier etc. It makes comparing brands within groups that are like role players in a team with independents (or flagships like Omega) a little tricky.

I bought a PAM 00392 about 8 years ago as I was a fan of the watch and liked it’s uniqueness. As it’s my only watch on a leather strap it is my de facto “dress” watch. It is rather chunky for that purpose, but I still love it’s look and feel. Panerai is a niche brand, but I do t see that as a negative. The watch still keeps great time and is yet to be serviced. For the price I’d say it’s a good buy.

I’m a fan of Panerai, my wife has one of the early Dues at 38mm and she adores it. I’m concerned about this recent movement issue of using ETA and doing the “in-house” story….. and it confirms my personal feelings about the management team. Panerista here. PAM351 was the 2nd “nice” watch I added years ago to the collection and still have it-It will likely never leave. Best thing about the luminor marina line is that you can buy a new strap and practically feel like you got a new watch. Easily changing straps is the best part of owning a Panerai. I’ve taken mine on lots of vacations, snorkeling, hiking, snowboarding, etc. rugged enough for daily use but change the strap and you can rock it with a nice suit too. I also love the sandwich dial- best looking lume on a dial by far and very legible. These watches are not about precision, hence the lack of minute hash marks. Instead they’re all about style, comfort, legibility and versatility. The older models like mine are also slightly more desired because they don’t have the stupid “automatic” text at 6 o’clock on the dial, ruining the symmetric look. Some prefer the slightly thicker case of the older models too. I’ve tried on the newer/slimmer versions and am glad I have the old case design. But to each their own.

One thing you didn’t mention about the PANERAI range is that some models come with an exhibition case-back. I have a preference for the 38mm DUE but they do not (or did not) exhibit the mechanism. Don't other Richemont companies like IWC and Cartier use Richemont owned Valfleurier movements also? Panerai seems to always get hate for this but others escape it. IWC and Cartier put their own reference numbers on movements not made in -House also. This is what Panerai have done and the guy who has major personal problems with the company has blown it up because Hodinkee said in-house. This is similar to Omega and Co-Axial. I would love to see a side by side of a Panerai/IWC caseback Vs a Tudor black Bay silver which is in-house. The difference in decoration is massive between them

Started really looking into the brand after years and was hell bent on getting a Luminor for the crown guard. Manual wind 8 days. Well, after going in and looking at all Models, going back to my AD 3 days in a row, I did a flip and fell in love and purchased the Panerai Radiomir PAM00572 micro rotor and “I LOVE IT” I enjoy wearing it, looking at it and dare say (my favourite watch even over my Rolex’s 😅) I am now looking at more Panerai and love the brand now. I am secretly hooked and I totally get it now. The Radiomir with the slim case, I’m house movement, off centre micro rotor and beautiful dial won me 100% and no matter what anyone tells me. I love it.

What I love about Panerai? the unbusy clean dial, but the size is absurd 😉

Hi, As a rolex datejust 41 owner i also have the 47 mm pam 00514. This watch is so much fun . With its p9000 handwound movement the dirty sandwich dial and fat brown leather strap its hard to pick wich watch to wear. Panerai is a brand that was blown life in by the industry like ulysse nardin unlike rolex . So in case of development rolex is topdog. But the concept and wearability of panerai is also topdog. Taking of my datejust now slip on the panerai to go walk my also topdog . 😉

I love my PAM 673. Panerai's military dive watch history and connection to Rolex is unique. I don't understand why they don't make the Due 100M water resistant.

Panerai *did* have a spell of being the "in" watch - back in 2005 I couldn't get any discount on my Pam 005, unlike my Rolex Sub, which I got 5% off without even asking. How things have changed 😂

Hi Adrian, I’ve been using the PAM048 since last 4 years. Its very different compared to what Rolex,Omega and the brands offer. It stands out. I like it and people often ask me what a Panerai feels like on the wrist.

The Luminor Due line absolutely nails it. That and the Radiomir are the ones for me. Elegant but still bold. Do not like the gigantic luminors and submersibles. The anthracite dial luminor due is gorgeous. Same way the new Premier line makes me like Breitling.

Isn’t Panerai claiming a new in-house movement in their new chronograph but it’s really an ETA movement?

I seem to recall a few years ago they slapped an unfinished lower end Unitas movement in a limited edition run of watches. Not a brand I’d be able to trust.

I recently got a Luminor Base 3 day, I love the simplicity of the dial paired with the chunky industrial, yet polished case. The crown guard is epic, and a nice feature. The dealer / salesperson told me they are addictive and I would be back…and I keep looking at the submersible.. I guess you’ve heard the Sly Stallone story about how he discovered them while filming. Quite interesting. Great video!

Bark and Jack you could easily wear the 47mms. I cannot say the same of my tiny wrist. But IMO the best models are in 47, the PAM 663, 422, 372.

NBA players, NFL linemen, that kinda folk are about the only people who can easily wear a 47mm watch. That's comically large.

I have the PAM 1392 (the 2392 but with crystal back and fauxtina) and absolutely love it. Fauxtina is much maligned but I think it looks stunning with a brown strap (worth mentioning the ease of changing straps); the 42mm size means I don't have trouble with cuffs, but it's plenty big enough to be easily read. And it keeps very good time. What's not to like?

I have a 1313 and on a sunny day ( rare here in Scotland ) the colour of the dial is stunning, got rid of a Submariner to get it and have no regrets. Luckily I got one of the early 2020 ones that still has the hacking feature in the 9010 movement.

The longer I have been into watches the more appealing Panerai has become. As your collection grows you look for something different amongst a world of bland and dull watches. Panerai is unique and interesting and for that worthy of a look. Purchased my first a few months ago and absolutely love it
