13:09 i still can't help but admire how they managed to make black hole warping in no mans sky as atmospheric and eerie as it is. with the upgraded visual effects of being able to see your ship in front of you from all perspectives seemingly simulating the real light bending properties of black holes and the soundtrack it really does give the sense that flying into a black hole is a very very risky thing to do and the uncertainty of what lies on the other side.
Although in reality it is certain, since Steven Hawking and other astronomers like Neil deGrasse Tyson (thanks to Steven Hawking's work on Hawking Radiation allowing one to measure the mass of a black hole) proved that blackholes contain a mass equal to what goes into them. They're just a cosmic force implosion, and the technical term for what happens is "spaghettification." Literally the atoms of your body will be shredded and stretched thin like spaghetti then condensed into the imploding mass. Once the density becomes unstable at about the point a black hole has consumed as much as everything in the known universe it explodes (e.g. The Big Bang).
I picked up one of these and after awhile started hearing strange creepy noises while in the ship flying around. The noises aren't very loud but I knew they were from that artifact. I sold the item right away because the sounds were really scary. after I sold it the creepy sounds stopped right away.
I’ve picked up a cursed object a number of times and always meant to hang on to one but would forget what it was and end up selling it, seeing that pretty price tag, every single time 😅 Would love to see them actually do something in game. Like have their value increase for every real day you have one on your person (up to a week), but having them on you causes your tech to take damage easier or have pirates more likely to target you. Or, how about having to deal with an occasional wave of sentinel attacks? Maybe the damage could increase by each day and the sentinels would get harder and harder to defeat. That would make a super cool mod, if any modders happen to read this!
To be honest, i think a cursed item wouldnt really make more frequent sentinel/pirate attacks, however, an item of high value to them (Pirates being money, and sentinels being sentinel stuff) could do it instead! (Just an idea :)
To determine whether exiting pulse at the plasmic accidents were automatic, just look at how much frames there was between the notification for the deep space anomaly and your ship pulling out of pulse drive! If the frame count between the notification and at the exiting from pulsing at both plasmic accidents are the exact same, then it was automatic, because - although you're one of the best - the chances of you reacting in the exact same time at each events are miniscule. Also you can compare those two with a previous anomaly when you didn't get a plasmic accident, but your fingers already had the muscle memory for exiting pulse.
They spawn in front of you when you exit pulse. It doesn't stop you automatically. If you want you can keep pulsing past the anomaly if you don't want to stop for it
The curse is real, actually. Tested this myself, actually flying around carrying 6 monstrous samples, one of them of high value. You get the extreme sub-audible message, and if you don't move from the spot, a weird plasma storm starts to form. If you move the ship around some, you can glimpse the icon of a deep space object at the corner of the cockpit screen, but when you turn to it, nothing is there. More like being haunted. Would try with a living ship to see if there is more of a reaction, but don't have one yet.
This is one of the things I love about NMS, even though I've been playing since day 1, there are still new things to learn. I've never noticed the curse phenomenon in the game. No other content creator I know of has even mentioned it. Your hard work has paid off, new subscriber here.
Thanks for watching! And maaan, I'm editing one that I had recorded a couple of weeks ago but the audio sounds like I must have been sick that day or something. lol It was unscripted, so I can't rerecord it. In typical fashion it's taken weeks and dozens of hours to create a single Assassin's Creed video. 🤷♂️ After that I'll get back to using that beautiful NMS footage I recorded during this session. lol
Look forward with anticipation! AC is a great series of games 😆, coincidentally, I just came down with a nasty cold and won’t be able to record for a few days
The day I watched this (yesterday) I actually found two the curse relics in a row (after maybe 13 total jump encounters because I’m a new switch player) immediately after on the next planet I landed at, a gigantic worm flew over me (which apparently is also an effect from the “curse” on Reddit). Since I’m on the switch I was able to capture video of both the relics and the worm as well!
I usually avoid anomolies that won't parlay. I don't feel like messing around with stopping to sell their stuff. I encountered that anomoly you showed with the huge eye. It wouldn't leave me alone and kept blocking my flight path, saying nothing. I decided to c scan it and it reacted like it was a flash bulb. It's eyes were all swirly and it seemed kind of dizzy, and I was able to fly past it no problem. I thought it was pretty funny.
I think I have gotten the cursed artifact from a frigate mission before. I always sell it. Man, after 1500+ hours and 1000s of videos and all the discussion in the community, No Mans Sky still surprises me. Next time I get one, I'm holding on to it.
When that item dropped for me i just flogged it straight away, i assumed it was just flavour text like everything else "rare seed sample that should be responsibly deposited in a seed bank" = sell it
Jesus, my dude, your dedication is absolutely epic. I'm still a noob at this game, so hearing you, telling about your journey, and how many systems you've visited, made me realize how much more I need to discover. You just got a new subscriber, man. Congrats, just simply due to your motivation and dedication, which, to be fair, should be commended.
903 hours on record and this video proves to me I still havent seen or experienced everything. Probably never will with the pace that they add new content, some of it being hidden.
I’m “new” to nms. I’ve been playing for about 6 weeks or so. Although I have managed 290 hours on one save and 30something on another. Not only do I have a job but I work 11 hours a day and even maintain somewhat of a family life! Anyway I acquired a “terrifying sample” some time ago. Not having a clue what it is or what they’re used for (as many things in the game) I did finally move it to a storage container but I carried it around for quite a while. I never noticed any change or difference tho. I kinda want to retrieve it now and try to force something to happen! So, there goes yet another week of my life down the drain! Thanks haha!
I got one, and shortly afterwards my exosuit mentioned something about weird noises. Like "sonic disturbances detected" or something. Nothing else, and it might not have had anything to do with the curse. It was within minutes of picking up the terrifying sample though.
I can give it a try if you want. I mean I figured out the anomaly strength, boundary failing on them weird planets. Maybe not in full, but definitely different results than what I had read about on reddit and such, seemed it was the same type of observations, but honestly there is alot of really neat hidden things! Terrifying sample, might need to be met with certain conditions as you mentioned in your video, I will have to look into it, sounds like something fun!
I figured it was just for flavor But it still gave me the creeps. I love that sort of thing in games, really reminded me of the creepy flavor text in games I grew up on.
I see! More testing is required on my part. I just got another one a couple nights ago that I'm going to keep around. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Thank you for trying to figure this one out. I've always felt as though I hadn't held on to a cursed object long enough to do anything. I had something, can't remember what it was, that I had realized was in my freighters cargo for around a month or so of gameplay. Hadn't really noticed anything weird.
I been playing NMS since it's launch and things you guys put on video I've never had an idea it was even in the game, I mean I have gone into other galaxies now btw as far as I seen no way back unless you join someone elses game still in Elucid lol
Yep! They have a small chance of spawning randomly without the use of a broadcast receiver. I think I've only had them randomly show up 2 or 3 times ever.
@@HateEbk I know that, but nostalgia’s a hell of a drug. I played it regularly for an entire year after launch and on and off for 3 years after. The only reason I really stopped was because I moved out and had to leave my PS4 behind and didn’t feel like starting over
What the hell are the chances that I found one of these things randomly on my first ever derelict freighter just today, and immediately sold it, thinking nothing of it?
First time I ran with Artemis, it was just after the update, and I'd get thrown miles on leaving the ship. Felt like the atlas picking you up and spiking you off the ground for digging where you shouldn't. To this day, I'm a little wary that red orb is watching, unblinking. Waiting to send me to space sans the ship should I displease it.
I wish there were random quests you could go on that are procedurally generated and could give you random rewards that are unique like customization items only you have, or weapon types only you have like a weapon upgrade that shot a green goo that turns things into crystals or diamonds for instance (something crazy like that), or parts for your ship that really makes it unique. This type of thing might not be possible and might just be a future feature for this type of game but I really wish NMS had something like that to solidify it’s replay-ability.
There is another side to this. A school of thought that says if these objects are cursed, then the other ones if that family of rewards actually bring luck. The gold coloured T3 objects over a certain age, the sunken treasure, flora sample, the one u get from the salavged date etc etc etc. the theory is having one of each of these in your suit and ship helps spawn S class ships quicker and when using maps to find multi tool cabinets will direct you to an S class location sooner.
Nice! I have been looking for info that explains the artifact exchange at a Big Archive. Can you point me in the right direction so I can learn how that works? Thanks Kanaju! Oh, I just read what the wiki says about this. I was sorta thinking I already knew all there was to know but you are the guy with the Secrets of the NMS Universe LOL
Dammit. Ive been bingeing your stuff podding catch up on what I've missed since in stopped playing... i had one of these in my new play through. And sold it for storage 😅😬
So, I don't know if this is helpful information but I am not the most dedicated player in no man's sky I have been playing for like 233 hours total I believe. During this time I have received probably 6+ the tainted orbs or anything else that is this "cursed item" and I never paid attention to it, until the 5th one I received and so I decided to keep it and I had it for well over 80+ hours and just completely forgot about it. The only thing I can recall happening is that by coincidence I started running into the "Child of Helios" space encounter as well as the "Asteroid Larva" encounter more frequently but it wasn't automatically taking me out of the pulse jumps. Overall I believe that if someone, AKA Hello Games, took the time to make something then it's there for a reason. We may not know what the purpose of these items is or if they just serve as lore in the present No Man's Sky, but it may be possible that Hello Games can use this idea for an expedition or an update. Regardless, great content and keep up the good videos, I was surprised you didn't encounter "Rubble of the First Spawn" then again I've only seen that one or two times myself.
You should have asked me. NO THEY'RE NOT. I kept 10 'cursed' items in my inventory for nearly a year (over 1,000 hrs of game play) and nothing happened.
the curse is encumbrance of OCD XD ur all flying around with a slot taken up in ur inventory unable to get rid of the item due to ur own obsession to see what happens
easiest way for space encounter get the mining space pulse drive maps that increase and garantee space encounter. the pulse drive map drop rarely from space mining during ore mining. that will reduce the time to test this.
on one of the expeditions, got that item somehow. Thought it a curious item, might sell it as fast as I could. The strange part of it, I can swear, is that I encountered it several times in the same playthrough. Don't remember was it repapering in my inventory, or on the shop shelfs, but swear to endless cosmos, it was following me. Or maybe it could be my luck, encountering it that many times.
How did you get the little Atlas station in your ship like that? It's awesome. Did you have to use anomaly detectors for each of your encounters? Just wondering whether I should stock up on them or not to try out the curse myself. And I love the clips of the black holes towards the end, you really got some cool footage dude. Looking forward to the next videos!
I used a couple of anomaly detectors when in systems with very little activity, however the rest (over 100) encounters occurred on their own. And thanks!
@@Kanaju so I think the curse associated with the items is forcing nexus missions to be cancelled whenever a purple mission appears on the list. I tried to do other quests and they would be auto cancelled until I chose the purple one, which took me to an infested titan worm planet. Then all of the other nexus missions for the day took me to other titan planets. I have some screenshots I'll send you
Hahaha I have an Assassin's Creed video that I've been pushing back for months that was finally in editing last week that got pushed back again for this. WIll it finally release this week? Only time will tell... Thanks for watching, btw!
Is most of this stuff still in the game lol? Im late to this vid and the game haha only just started playing this month but i think ive beat all 3 main questlines and built a staff, freighter and fleet etc. Warped around ALOT and still dont think ive seen any of these random space encounters. Is there something i need to do to trigger them appearing?
