Are the broadcasts of NASCAR's biggest races too boring? (Yes.)

You don't have to count sheep when you can count cars. Seriously, has anyone else noticed just how muted and quiet the superspeedway broadcasts are? I (I mean technically I do) work in the field of sports audio, so satisfaction is becoming a sticking point for me as a fan watching on the outside, and the work that the networks are doing today in audio mixing stinks. Here's a race from 2000 up against one from 2023.

What weirds me out is what you mentioned. The lack of ambient noise during broadcast. It totally takes away the drama of some of the better moments. The old broadcasts really gave you a feeling of something bigger going on in the background.

Meanwhile mrn and prn are yelling the whole time while fox particularly and sometimes nbc lack it.

I can't stand a lot of American racing and haven't for years because it's go fast, turn left for hours. Boring!

@@IIegacyy There is a lot of racing in America that is more road type racing, but it's not as big as NASCAR or Indy type racing. That's too bad because road racing is, too me, a lot more interesting. See, I do know something.

@jimvandemoter6961 you know nothing about nascar, which is why you dont like it. i get not liking it because of just.. opinions, but don't talk if you're just gonna say its turning left for a few hours. for one, we do have road courses (cota, road america, sonoma/infineon, charlotte roval, daytona road course, indy road course..) and two, you need to take the time to understand it. don't just look at it and go "haha left turn boring" because thats not all there is to it. lets not argue here.
