Well the Celtics doesnt have the location advantage like what the Lakers have in L.A. Lakers took advantage of the glitz and glamour of L.A and Hollywood to attract stars from other teams to come to them (ex. Shaq, Wilt, Kareem, Lebron, A.D etc.).. Most of the HOFers, Players with their Numbers Retired in Celtics and Stars are drafted by the C's organization (ex. Russell, Bird, Pierce, Mchale, Tatum, Brown) they are homegrown talents.

Having more appearances doesn’t mean anything, if you keep on losing,the Lakers have 15 runner ups which makes them the team with more Losses in the finals, 10 more losses than the Celtics and the Celtics are 9-3 against them.

Lakers have been way more consistently great. They've been to the Finals in literally every decade, they have the better individual players (Shaq, Kareem, Kobe, Magic, West, Baylor, even LeBron, Wilt, and Mikan), they have more postseason appearances in fewer seasons. I'm biased as a long time lakers fans starting when I was nine years. You can't control the eras and time players played in obviously so some people won't agree, but the majority of the Celtic's titles were won in a league where there were at most 10 teams. I mean, how competitive and deep a league could that have been? The modern era of hoops started when Magic and Bird came into the league, 1980. The way it was played changed the game; bigger, stronger, faster athletes that could play multiple positions. My point of reference starts from there. If you go by that calculation I believe the Lakers are the better team historically. Starting with my definition of the modern era of basketball, 1980, the lakers have won 11 titles and played in 17 championship series. The most dominant run of any team in the 4 major sports leagues during this time frame from 1980 to now. Again, just my 'laker' opinion lol. Celtics have won more titles overall so i understand if the Celtic fan hangs their hat on that.

I still believe the "86" Celtics was the best team I've ever seen with the "87" Lakers right with them. The death of Len Bias was the biggest blow in Celtics history. No one talks about how every team was in the East in the 80s. The most wins a playoff opponent the 87’ Lakers had was 44. The Lakers had one other team have consistent winning seasons in the 80s, the Mavericks, and no one remembers that because they only won like 43 games most of the time. The entire league was in the East until like 2000.

Moving forward the Celtics are king of the east...they will need to contend with Denver, Mavericks, OKC, and Timberwolves over the next 5-6 years. And perhaps in 4 years the Spurs will be in the mix as well.
