What is your opinion on cooking with teflon? Do teflon rice cookers put teflon into the rice? Because my (now old-used) teflon rice cooker has a worn bottom surface where it made contact with the cooking rice. Does micro-particle size teflon that is consumed go through ones intestine and into ones blood?
This is something that should be looked into and understood a whole lot more than it is. And if the toxicity answers are known (that plastic packaging is not harmful), this should be more widely communicated to put worrying people's mind at rest. I make and buy sauerkraut. Its main ingredient is salt. Salt is corrosive. I worry that the corrosive nature of this food could be breaking down the plastic container it is in, which is not necessarily food grade plastic (The plastic container of my purchased saurkraut says it's type 1 plastic, which is not necessarily highly food grade plastic). Am I worrying for nothing? Who would know the answers to these question of the amount of toxic plastic particles that could leach in to food from food packaging? A big plastic bottle of ketchup stays in my fridge for a year, since I don't use it very often. Could the high amount of acidic sugar that is in the ketchup slowly be breaking down the plastic from the bottle and be leaching into my ketchup? I think with the instances of cancer today, these are important questions.
