So Sean Payton has only negative things to say about class personified in Russ, and now, with a rookie, he has glowing things to say. i lost a ton of respect for that dude. waiting on the cluster f ride about to happen.
Let’s all be clear that Lombardi is not a pundit because he was so successful in the front office that he just decided to give it up and work in the media. I swear I’ve been listening to this dudes bad takes for 20 years
Hes a coffee pot jockey that managed to bs his way into a couple of gigs, but it never took long for an organization to notice and jettison him as fast as he was hired.
have either of these guys watched the raiders? one of the best defenses once pierce took over and team won more than 6.5 with a rookie AOC, bad jimmy g and hoyer. had to deal with mcdaniels and his slop for half the season as well
He’s bitter because he was a failure and is completely irrelevant now. It’s easy to take pot shots at everyone while you’re sitting at home. The dude’s profile pic on Twitter is at least 30 years old, too. 🤷🏻♂️🙄🤦🏻♂️
One thing I can say for sure is what, Colin Cowherd would say, Miami wants no part of Buffalo’s snow I December! They’re hoping like crazy that they’re gonna get to go to Buffalo in September/October instead! ❤
Miami wants no part of any decent team come December . Chiefs , bengals, bills and Ravens are all outdoor freezing cold teams. They are also the biggest 4 contenders to worry about in the afc
Loves bills for the reasons he hates the chiefs over under … after the chiefs won back to back chips with the exact formula. Weird. Rashee wasn’t even a factor until week 10. Hilarious. Now MVS departure is going to hurt. I can pull tons of Simmon’s tweets talking shit about MVS and how ineffective he was. “Just throw it up there” … priceless commentary.
11.5, take the over Baltimore isn’t as good as last year Cincinnati perennially get off to slow starts Buffalo is having a soft rebuild Chiefs play the morbid NFC South The division games will be a breeze
As much as everyone wants the chiefs offense to be explosive like from 2018-21, it’s not happening with defenses playing 2 deep safeties. The Chiefs just won 2 super bowls with short passes underneath, good defense and Pacheco running the ball. That’s the Super Bowl recipe.
MVS had to go, $14M is a gross overpay for him. I’m still worried about the receivers tho. I’m concerned Hollywood isn’t a deep threat, or an elite speedster anymore. I hold on hope since he has Mahomes as QB instead of Arizona carousel and Lamar. I expect Worthy to put up peak Mecole numbers this year around 600 yards. Justin Watson is the deep threat sadly. Kadarius is the gadget guy. Skyy is….on the roster. Rashee clearly is the WR1 so I hope the suspension is quick and minimal
Left Tackle: We’ll sign Donovan Smith before training camp, if not Wanya will fill the role. He started the Chiefs last 5 games then got a concussion week 18. Donovan Smith was cleared to play in week 16. That makes me wonder if Wanya never got concussed if he’d still start in the playoffs but more likely Donovan was just being rested.
It’s not smart to say the Chiefs might go 10-7 bc of their incompetent receivers then immediately go to Buffalo and say they’ll win 11 games easy bc of Josh Allen. Chiefs got rid of MVS for a reason, Nobody is scared of Curtis Samuel, Mahomes is better than Allen. Hollywood, Rashee and Kelce are better than anything buffalo has. Dumb point to try to make
Lombardi giving the Seahawks the respect they deserve made my day. Macdonald is gonna revive our defense and Ryan Grubb is gonna make our offense top 10 again. Seattle is easily a 10-7 team with upside.
The Bears don’t have a LT and their OL is bad? Based on what? Bears have been one of the best rushing teams in the NFL for a few years now and it wasn’t all Fields. Herbert led all RB’s 2 years ago with a 5.7 YPC. But there is more. Per Mina Kines on a recent livestream she said according to ESPN analytics the Bears OL ranked 2nd in the NFL in run block win rate and 5th in the NFL in pass block win rate this past season. Fields is a great athlete and runner but a bad QB. Fields career sack % is 12.4%. In 2023 over 13 games he played in his sack % was 10.6%. Tyson Bagent, the undrafted rookie QB out of tiny school had a 3.4% sack % in the 5 games he played in 2023. Caleb is a clear upgrade at QB over Fields. The Bears upgraded their already good line with Shelton and abates replacing Patrick and Whitehair. They upgraded their receivers with Allen and Odunze. They probably upgraded at RB and TE with Everett replacing Tonyan as TE # 2. They upgraded at safety also. What they didn’t do is downgrade at any position. How do you also not have Washington and New England as bottom 5 teams?
What people don’t realize is kelce can actually block. It’s like only people who regularly watch the chiefs know that. Yes he is an elite receiver but he is also a passable blocker. Is he an elite blocker? No. But teams know he can so it isn’t an obvious pass when he is out there. The way the falcons have misused Kyle pitts is criminal. The only thing I can think of is their coaching staff either thinks he is no better than a piece of card board in run and pass blocking or he actually is no better than that… put pitts on the chiefs and as long as he is a willing blocker he would be a top 3 tight end in the NFL. The problem is he is only on the field on passing downs and his called route trees are extremely basic. So as long as he just isn’t completely uncoachable, an absolute moron, and blocks like a cardboard box he should be dominate. I’m really hoping he is a guy in a couple years the chiefs can sign for like 2 years 10 million bc the league has given up on him being elite lol the way the falcons are playing him they’d be better off just switching him to WR and making him the starting slot receiver.
"Every time i see Kelce he's on a plane or at a concert" ...........How about the last time you see Kelce he put up 11 catches 110+TD against Ravens, and almost 100 yards in superbowl.
Payton was “gLoWiNG”. Who cares? You want him to go up there looking defeated with a young QB? Nix is a total wild card The Broncos are an awful offensive team with limited weapons, a terrible o line and a million holes on their defense. They’re a 5-6 win team, period.
Payton is facing NFL reality much like late Bill Belichick without a HOF QB (except he was nowhere near Belichick at his peak and had limited post season success with that QB.)
I don’t understand the Seahawks love. New coaching staff and a below average QB. Kyler isn’t good? Dude had a HORRIBLE coach and tore his ACL.. Arizona was a top 10 offense the last 6 games, and added MHJ
Geno is a solid QB btw. He's not great by any means. But is far better than is given credit. Lombardi was 100% right about him & Seattle's outlook. Their OL was a $hit show last year (injuries). The defense was trash & Pete Carroll routinely was outcoached. Shanahan & McVay ran circles around him for years within the division. They underachieved. I don't think people realize what a poor job Carroll & his staff did the last few years. Yet they still somehow won 9 games with a piss poor defense. Mike Macdonald is going to have a bigger impact than maybe some realize. The guy is a young defensive wiz, who has made an impact at every stop he's been. They'll win at least 10 games this year with better coaching & a much better scheme in place. They have talent on both sides of the ball. But Carroll was holding them back.
The NFC South is dumb. They flip flop division winners basically every year. I gave them a recovering Cousins > Ritter bonus of 2 wins and the same bonus for the coaching change. I'm picking the Falcon to dominate their division, be a crap shoot against every other team, and then promptly get blown TF out in the first round. I expect them to be a lesser version of the 2022 Vikings (8th Off/28th def).
Don't disagree with them winning the division and losing in the wild card. There is a world where they do make it to then divisional round though with a great offensive year and good defensive year. There defense last year was good to average so 28th is a bit of a reach.
The schedule release gives fans a glimpse into how their team will do. Last year, I knew that the Giants would finish third or fourth because seven of their first eleven games were on the road. 🤷🏻♂️
I said when Aaron went to the jets that it wasn’t going to work out and this great young core they have is going to implode and I feel like I’m one mid season away from being right 😂
It’s funny how Mike talks about how strength of schedule makes no sense because teams are totally different but when he likes a team he talks about how they did last season and saying they have to get better. Sorry to tell you that’s just not how it works. Progression isn’t linear in the nfl
I think Lombardi’s takes are as bad as anyone but BS did hire Ben Solak, Kevin Clark, Steven Ruiz, etc. Most of the other football guys he has on are great.
Is Jared Goff a 'breakfast cereal' QB? You know how ads always say how some kid's sugary cereal is 'part of a complete breakfast' and then they show a breakfast that's perfectly complete without the cereal? (TVTropes refers to "Adjacent to this complete breakfast") Can the same be said about Goff? Is he part of a high-octane offense that would work just fine without him? Who else? Maybe Brock Purdy? Would just anyone succeed with that offense and that coach? Anyone else I'm missing? [I just want to introduce 'breakfast cereal QB' to the nomenclature.]
Not only was it not bad despite Patrick and Whitehair playing C and backing up G, but according to ESPN analytics it was very good this past season. Better than I would have expected.
I agree with Bill. The chiefs have major issues again on offense. That receiving room is arguable worse than last years and I thought they were at rock bottom last year
@@swann433 their passing game was never really good last year. They won in spite of it. Coming back with a wose receiving room is not a formula for success. Especially since the defense will take a step back with the loss of lj sneed
Lawrence throws the ball down the field, nobody catches it😂😂. It’s either slightly inaccurate or dropped, so not all his fault but sometimes yeah, he could be better. Also I thought Kyler was pretty good last season for just coming back from an ACL into a team that really lacked talent
Lombardi cant be trusted to talk about the raiders because his son got fired from there and he has an obvious vendetta. In what world is having 3 centers bad, bro center is harder to play than guard it's way easier to make that transition than the other way around LMAO
Bill Simmons is such a homer casual. He can't see how Miami can be better? They won 11 games with the most injured team in football. They actually improved the roster if he paid any attention.
True the Atlanta skill players haven't produced, but.. they have had TERRIBLE if not the worst qb play and lets be real the scheme want built around the players. Gotta build around what you got not what your scheme dictates. Most players are scheme dependent and can't elevate bad coaching.
Did he say NOT to go to games? Or is the schedule release over rated "based on win % from last year when the teams are different". I'm not old, but I understand what he is saying.
Bro what are u talking about ??? And how are so many morons thinking this was his take? He was talking about gambling only. What a cringe comment. Not to mention… you’re wrong!! Young people are less likely to attend live sporting events 😂 gen z is 30% less likely to attend live sporting events than millennials which are less likely than gen x was. Keep being cool l hip and smart though bro 😎 🤙🧠🗣️ 🙄🙄🙄🙄
2:20I see that Michael "Can I Get You Another Coffee, Bill?" Lombardi is displaying, in real time, why hes not running an NFL team these days: "not taking training camp seriously" is a foolish thing to just assume that the opponent is doing, and then to base an entire thesis around it shows his level of thinking- and why hes at home talking about it rather than actually doing it somewhere. I cant remember a more dipsh*t take from a former NFL executive before...🤔
Folks are sleeping on Pittsburgh 👌🏼 they will go over that 9.5 ! With an offense that won’t punt as much as they did (Since the Roethlisberger injury) TJ/Cam/Minkah etc will actually get more that 5 mins of rest!! I’m a fan tho, but still think Russ/Justin and the Steelers all wanna prove themselves ASAP and the offseason/draft shows that!
If mahomes was on the chargers with Brandon Staley while Herbert had Andy Reid and multiple first ballot hof and pro bowlers on his team, I have a feeling things would be different. Football is a team sport. Mahomes is not far and away better than everyone else. The chiefs as an organization are. No one is coached better on both sides of the ball and no more than 5-7 teams have the talent to match them.
BS and his dad are butt hurt that Mahomes is better than Brady. Living in the past dude. Just like Jordan is better than Bird, Mahomes is better than Brady. He'll figure it out over the next 10 years. Bill Russell isn't the greatest because he won the most rings.
Wow you guys are so fkn smart and intellectual that the rest of us Neanderthals are idiots for paying attention to the schedule release. I guess we’re not as smart as you guys, I mean it’s not like you dedicate so many hours of your life talking about kids games or anything like that-shit you guys are regular einsteins
The Lions are a lot more improved? They have no real depth at the skill positions. They lost depth on the team overall. The defensive front should be better with Reader but starting 2 rookie CB’s is a recipe for disaster. Rookie cornered not named Sauce have a tendency to struggle in their first seasons. I would not be surprised if the Lions take a step or 2 back.
@@paulieprinceton4550 you clearly don’t know what you are talking about! They didn’t lose any depth, what are you referring to? They improved the OL and DL… will have a healthy James Houston at edge… they added Carlton Davis and Amik Robertson at CB only Terrion Arnold will start… the other rookie corner will not play much
@@paulieprinceton4550 Devon Witherspoon was instant impact corner in last year’s draft that is not true lol! Sauce is the only impact rookie corner! Jalen Ramsey, Denzel Ward, and L’Jarius Sneed will all impact rookie corners in their rookie seasons
I love how every single time they bring up Aaron Rodgers now they're like whatever you think about him on the other stuff Oh you mean the fact that he was correct about covid-19 and how 0.2% death rate doesn't deserve the best people in the best shape taking a vaccine for no reason and people being able to consult their own doctor.
People thinking Lombardi isn't qualified to give takes, you don't have to believe and agree with everything he fucking says either, but don't try and say he has no idea, he's been in the rooms that none of Bill's guests have been.
