coldcasechrist...
Even if objective truths exist, are claims about morality, like “premarital sex is immoral,” an objective truth claim or merely a matter of personal opinion or cultural consensus? How can we be sure about claims such as these? In this video from J. Warner’s “Quick Shots: Fast Answers to Hard Questions” series on RightNow Media, J. Warner answers this common question related to the claims of Christianity.

im pretty sure you dont have to add "for the fun of it" to torturing an infant...theres no concevable reason that could justify that. the same can be said for rape...whenever somone tells me morality is subjective i ask them in what instance is rape okay and they do one of 3 things 1. they beat around the the bush (one person actually said because the "universe" doesnt care or that its something thats only discussed among humans that theres no way of knowing) 2. they call it a strawman example or 3. they dont respond at all.

There is no such thing as justifying anything. There is only consequences that deter people from moving a certain way. And it's usually in the plea of physical threat.

...I'm guessing any comment I have made will be deleted, just more personal incredulity from people who have already decided what the truth is before gaining any data to make that decision. Dismissing the truth doesn't make it go away, it just means you didn't ask enough questions about it to know if it's right or wrong. The scientific method requires that the conclusion come last. You can't scientifically claim that morals are objective "because god said so" and then look for evidence to support it.

You can’t scientifically come to any way of showing us these moral laws being found through research. If there is a God, he isn’t some half smart man in the sky who can somehow make stuff but can’t control it, God is all powerful omnipresent, and loving and personal, outside of space-time-matter because that’s what our universe is made out of - God created it. (The closest science has come to proving the creation event is the horrible analysis of history, and their theories of the Big Bang) those and wrong because they assume God was created from that Event, instead the event they might be finding is God speaking creation, and BOOM - it’s created. God is outside of creation, instead of an eternal universe or energy, it’s God. Jesus was in human form but still God, resurrecting from a tomb after three days. Christians beliefs are rooted in a historical event that did happen, was reported about and written about from multiple authors besides the 40+ from the Bible… check out the truth about the fossil record - it proves a global flood and why there are fossils, and accurately shows genesis to be factual on numerous accounts. Humans lived with dinosaurs - they were created day 6 with Adam. Baby dinosaurs were most likely taken on the ark, and these older dinosaurs were a lot smaller than on TV. Have you ever tried praying?

I used to be agnostic, so your assumptions are wrong. I followed the evidence and it led me to God.

What about animals? If we punch animals, is there a moral issue??

if its without reason than yes,if its in self defense its out of need...as a person in that situation has no choice. the same can be said if you punch another person.
@jimx45
@jimx45 6 месяцев назад
Nope. There is the case the animal kicks back and you're on the ground with a possible life threatening injury. Or if the animal belongs to someone they will pull out the gat on you. Those are the things that happen. Not doing things obstructive to others is due to consequences there's nothing a piece of paper or word from another that can really deter an act like that.

Or, it's just labels we use to communicate about events and actions that affects our wellbeing. Not much different from labels like "red" or "hungry".

The very idea that morality exists is what is false. Morality is a concept, not a reality.
@sillythewanderer4221
@sillythewanderer4221 11 месяцев назад
This seems contradictory. Concepts can exist, maybe not materially, but they can exist.
@dakotastein9499

thats like saying numbers dont exist because math is merely a concept. its from the observastion of reality that we get the revelations of these concepts,granted we arent always right in our assumptions but other times we are.

That's not objective that's universally subjective. The vast majority of people hold to the opinion that they should continue being alive, even when other people disagree with them on that. You cited the vast majority of opinions, not an objective fact. If everyone on Earth but psychopaths were dead, would that change somehow?
@justchilling704
@justchilling704 2 года назад
Nothing can be universally subjective bc if it were universal I’m pretty sure that would indicate it’s not dependent on person’s.

@@Paladin1873 It was moral at the time, they had a religion that told them crazy things like who and why to kill...and not to, lol. The sacrifices were to save everyone else still alive by making their angry god(s) happy. I am fairly sure they would have thought it was objectively moral to do so. ;)

Cannibals gonna do what cannibals going to do. If you find a person with the same idea of not eating people hold onto them tightly that is your moral tribe.

I've asked people if it's ok to torture babies is ok, for them to just say well its not ok for me but for someone else in a different culture it is. Which is completely moronic
@kyebanman4044
@kyebanman4044 10 месяцев назад
Our cultural has changed love and care to mean - blind faith and accepting of sin. Jesus didn’t teach acceptance of sins, He taught the truth whether it stung for people hearing it or not.

i get the same kind of responses when i bring up the question of rape...they try to dance around the subject (despite the fact there is not a single instance where such an act is sympathetic let alone justified)
