Just bought P770 last month….could not be more satisfied….very forgiving even with long irons….bought Ping 425 Hybrid to replace 3 iron ….prefer P770s to PXG Gen 5 irons that I use when visiting USA….P770 seems to have a more consistent ball flight than PXG…
There’s not much in them at all mate. I game the 770s. I move from a MB to 770s for a little more forgiveness.wow brilliant. Both are the same really. The 770 look wise are better.
Love your reviews! You don’t try to murder the ball, which I think is more of a realistic approach when it comes to what to expect from the new clubs on the market. Thanks.
I played 2gen 790’s for several years and they were good clubs. Never hit the 770. However, if they’re better than my new T100S they must be super amazing.
Interesting to see your perspective. Having tested extensively on the course several previous iterations of golf clubs including the p790 and p770 (previous versions) against others neither made my shortlist and final choice. Was a close call between my two short-lived clubs - jpx 921 and pxg and ended up gaming the pxgs - outstanding feel and consistency. Recently tested the jpx 923 and though cam close to my pxg the shaft options for me were less than desirable so sticking with my pxgs. Would have been tempted to look at the new p770s but based on your review will pass.
Actually just tested the new p770 with five shafts. Two shafts did not work for me. Three did with out far outweighing the others. So much so that I have decided to switch to the p770s with this shaft. Unexpected but pleasantly surprised.
I’ve used both I’m a cat 1 golfer. There’s nothing in them. The 770 & 790 I got the same carry & level of forgiveness. I moved from MBs to the 770. Brilliant. They have that forged feel. A little hot off the face. They’re powerful clubs for sure both of them. Anyone can use them they’re both forgiving.
Just bought....could not be happier so far...4I and 5I seems very forgiving....i did get Ping 425 3 Hybrid to replace 3I ..no more excuses to blame clubs for bad shot...lol
How would you compare to your beloved i230s? I have been a Ping guys my whole life but am intrigued by these as I am looking for a little more pop. Did not like the i525s. Thoughts?
Nice review and much welcome. I tested the previous version of the 770 and liked it a lot. This new edition seems to be even better and just as eye catching. Could you let me know which shaft you used in this test (my speed and distance numbers are similar to yours). Thanks.
Meh... I know there is a lot of buzz around TM irons because of the ongoing success of the P790s, but if I was going to take the plunge, I'd get the MCs. I stop at 5i, though.
No. I went to get fitted with my eyes firmly fixed on the 770s .. with the pro 223s backup. I couldn’t get on with either.. the pro put titleist 100 in my hand and wow!! So much better (for me) in every way…
@@billmalec it would be a sad world if millions of golfers all liked and played the same clubs. It’s a bit like having beer and lager drinkers and then real beer v modern beer. I’m 24 H’cap Wilson D7 forged and love them
studio...? Why stop with on-course review? Those are so much more fun and, for me, more informative. like the ones from 2-3 years ago, when you guys combined with a short studio review and then out on the course.
I prefer course reviews, and if possible data for hits of turf not an indoor mat. While Sophie is a much better golfer than many of us so less prone to miss hits, for us average golfers we can have fat or thin contact and mats can minimise this where grass doesn’t
@@paulmcgee1867 225 pro are probably the equivalent as they are hollow head design but then the jpx forged are probably similar categories but different design.
Another ridiculous video click bait title. I sort of understand the RU-vid algorithm stuff but wish content creators would trust their content to get views more than stupid titles. And no, they’re clearly not the best irons on the planet as that’s completely subjective. 👍🏻
No. Speed slots degrade over time. They are literally open on the area that contacts the ground. I like to keep my irons. I will NEVER purchase speed slot irons. Never. Trash concept and design.
@@radam2818 but the structure of the iron will not suffer. The TaylorMade speed slot is lazy and cheap. There are better more durable ways but they cost more.
