To me, I do not know who Nike thinks they’re fooling. None of these Kobe‘s that have come out have been what he’s talked about as far as adding more performance to them, except for the Kobe 1 , there are only minor tweaks to certain design aspects, but no big changes on the 4’s ,5’s , 6’s & now 8’s. But it does show how Kobe’s shoes hold up in to days tech & performance

Kobe won't approve this upgrade. I think full length zoom is almost a must if talking about an upgrade

1s - obvious improvement with full length zoom. 5s and 6s… you can argue that it’s better in that they only have forefoot zoom as you don’t need heel zoom, you just need a cushion. You could argue for a better cushion or full length zoom but otherwise they’ve done alright. The 8 is a flop in regards to no zoom but I shall find a replacement drop in for those

Just got the Kobe 8, traction and comfort is nice. The only problem was around the carbon fiber plate in the side of the shoe hurt me when I made a lateral hard stop. I just hope the more I play with them the less discomfort around the area.

Overall, the Kobe 8 Halo is a very beautiful shoe that I will feel bad if I will use it for playing. The monochromatic colorway just clearly states that this is more of a "display" shoe. Moreover, the changes that they have made for me are not really upgrades. For a resale and for a die-hard Kobe fan like me, I will collect any shoe regardless of color! Mamba Forever!🐍♾

You have to keep in mind what the design language for the Kobe 8 was at the time and it was about being the lightest basketball shoe at the time. That being said, adding air zoom strobel is adding weight to the shoe. The Kobe 8 is meant to go fast and cut aggressively.

I wonder if different colorways will have different midsole setups. If i remember correctly when the 8s originally drop some colors had forefoot zoom and some had both forefoot and heel. I hope they do that or atleast sell more midsoles for people to swap with.

Kobe 8s is still personally my favorite not only because it was great for me as wide footer by we had weekly Friday runs back in College and everyone was rocking different colors. There wasn't anyone wearing the same color Kobe 8s at all.

@@franzzzzz250 I don’t have these but Kobe’s tend to fit very snug so just go with your regular size. If you have a wide foot, you should go up half maybe even a full size depending on the width

Not going to grab these just cause Nike is over pricing these with little tech change. Rather get the kobe 6s protro . Zoom and cushlon can't get much better. React alone is weak considering all the tech Nike has .

KOBE 8's are amazing performer even though it is a lack luster in terms of cushion. The lunarlon insole bottoms out pretty quickly and irreplaceable cause Nike doesn't sell them separately from the shoe itself the traction however is pretty damn nice it sticks pretty well on indoor courts even in dust it bites really well. @easymoney_ken47

If they added a zoom strobel or cushlon midsole then this wouldn’t be a Kobe 8… The 8s were never an impact protection/bouncy shoe. Plus that would add to the weight, defeating the purpose of them being one of the lightest hoop shoes ever.

@rob.andrion this colorway really does make you look for the details coz of the all white appearance but for me honestly i would really be careful with hooping in this shoe because of its white color. I would rather put it in a crystal case for display.

The protro iv didn’t have full length zoom while initially advertising they were. protro 1 the only one worth these protro. I got the protro V and it runs frikkin small. Not a fan of the Nike protro except the 1’s

@jave6732 I did have one. The answer is no, but I’ve grown since then so I don’t know. But what I say is based on personal experience. like my arch literally hit it dead on. I did not experience that before. So yeah just because I had the issue doesn’t mean someone else will have the same issue!
