I actually have a story from when I was in high school about a substitute teacher. I was Introduction to Theatre. The whole class was just dicking around, not listening to the teacher. Everyone but me. I wasn't feeling well that day, but not enough that my Mom would let me stay home. So in class, I just kept my head down, mouth shut, and did the work we were supposed to be doing (it was coming up with a stage plan for a play that each student picked for themselves.) The next day, I got to class a bit early and our regular teacher stepped out of the room as I was approaching. She saw me coming and wanted to talk with me. She told me about the report the sub left about how rowdy and disrespectful the class had been. And as I braced myself for the heads up about the punishment we were going to get she said, "The sub said everyone was out of control, except for you. So you aren't going to deal with what the class is today." She doubled as the Journalism teacher, so she walked me to the Journalism classroom and told me that I got extra time on the assignment. It was due the next day and she gave me until the following week to turn it in, with guaranteed extra credit for doing what I was supposed to do. After that period, I ran into one of my classmates and was told not only did they get yelled at for a chunk of the class, but for them, the assignment was due by the end of that class period and she added an even harder assignment on top of it due the next day. An assignment, she didn't make me do. I was a sophomore that year and took away this from the experience. If you do what you're supposed to do, (in school or job) and are respectful, people will take notice.

The lion likely didn't like the camera. Most animals do not know it's not an eye staring at them. To most animals that's a form of challenge or threat.
