I agree boomerangs are pretty OK. Ones like Sidewinder and Sea Serpent are downright good. The stomach dropping feeling going backward thru the loop is very unique. But if I'm at a park and already have the credit, no chance I'm riding it again
So far I’ve only ridden one Boomerang, which was the one at La Ronde, back in August 2019. I’m not sure if I plan to ride any more boomerangs, though I am interested in riding the other versions of the model, such as the Invertigo and the Giant Inverted Boomerang. Whether I myself will have the chance to ride those two other models or not is unknown.
I bet the invertigos and giant invert boomerangs will offer a different enough ride experience to get me interested but I did think the two normal ones I rode felt the same.
The first Boomerang built is the one on Six Flags Mexico, yes. But the first one operating is the one at Bellewaerde in Belgium. Also, I can see where the complaints come from as they are Arrow/Vekoma Loopers.
Only been on one boomerang, which is Jolly Rancher Remix! I think it was pretty good, with the new vekoma restraints, and it is forceful! I loved going backwards through the loop! I would ride more to get the credits when I go to more parks. I heard the one at Morey's Piers is pretty good, but I wonder how bad the boomerangs with the old vekoma trains are.
It’s hard for me to say because I’ve only ever ridden Invertigo (an inverted boomerang) and I’ve heard it’s a different experience than a regular boomerang. But honestly I did enjoy it, and I kind of want to ride it again. I did get insanely dizzy afterwards but it’s hard for me to say how much it affected me because we went back to the hotel for a break right after I rode it, so it’s hard for me to judge how badly it affected my day. But all in all, my one experience was relatively good.
Sounds like my brother had a kinda similar experience to you. I haven’t ridden an invertigo but I’d imagine the forces you feel will be very similar to the normal boomerangs.
They're a good support cast. i've ridden 2. Speed of Sound in Walibi Holland and Cobra in Powerpark. i can do 1 or 2 rides on them. not as good as the main rides, but still a good stop by.
They are definitely in the “ok” medium to average scale coasters which are just good enough to be like “alright” but not bad enough to be like “no thanks I’m out”
I rode Flashback from Six Flags Over Texas after it was relocated to Six Flags St Louis as well as the Six Flags Fiesta Texas one. I have an idea: Remove the second chain lift and extend the first one to make up for it. That will make the forwards pass more intense.
Sadly I haven't been on too many coasters so one of my favorites I've been on is a Vekoma Boomerang 😅 can't wait til i can ride some more impressive coasters and see what they're like
@@808CoasterLife Yeah I've sadly only been on about 10 so I don't have a lot of first hand experience myself but one day I will when i get the money and means to travel
Thank god you've never experienced the one at Knott's - the worst ones will have Arrow Dynamics trains and Vekoma's infamous SLC style restraints, where your head is surrounded on all sides. Knott's boomerang smashed by head up so much.
Of the three I’ve ridden, they are pretty decent. They are somewhat rough, but I haven’t gotten much headbanging, even with the classic OTSRs. The ones with the SLC restraints probably suck though
Rode a boomerang clone here in the Philippines (Space Shuttle - Enchanted Kingdom) a few weeks back, and I can agree on the dizzy statement you made, as after riding it, it really made me dizzy and caused me to barely have motivation to continue on with more rides. The only ride I rode after this was their rapids, and I rode the boomerang at noon. I'm returning to EK tomorrow and might sit out from the boomerang so I could still get motivation to ride EK's other rides, since I did miss out on a lot both due to being dizzy and the hour-long lines.
I’ve ridden 17 of these, and my biggest complaint about them isn’t covered by you, though your “They’re everywhere” answer is half of it. As for the ride itself, I find it to be fine. Nothing great, nothing bad. But what I don’t like is their low capacity, which means that unless I prioritize this coaster at a park, I will end up waiting a long time for a coaster that provides no new experience whatsoever.
That's a good point that I somehow forgot to mention. The lines weren't bad on the days I rode both Boomerangs but I can definitely see over-an-hour waits on busy days especially if a certain boomerang is popular in its park.
I've only ridden the one at Morey's Pier in 2017 just after the eclipse and I'd take it over Great 'Nor Easter, which was just retracked at the time. I think it got the vest restraints since then, IDK. I might like Sea Serpent more because I had low expectations of the model going in where I expected a very smooth ride from 'Nor Easter since it was just retracked and being left with "If that's supposed to smooth, I don't want to known how bad some of these are"
I’m not a fan of them generally. Flying Cobras and Boomerang at SFSL are some of the worst coasters I’ve ever been on, and the Boomerang at WOF is not great either. I found Invertigo at KI to be a fun ride though. They make a lot of sense for parks considering their price and size, but as for ride experience I’d honestly take an SLC over these any day. They tend to be sorta janky and I’m just not a fan of their layouts personally.
I definitely agree that I don't like the layouts since they can get boring very quickly. I've never ridden an SLC and I'm definitely interested (but also not very interested XD) in how they typically ride.
Boomerangs are a lot like shuttle coasters. They're short, stupid, and a complete waste of time. Same for coasters like Kingda Ka and Dragster. 2 1/2 hours in line for 30 seconds. No, thank you.
