The solar system is speeding through space at something 448,000 mph and takes about 230 million years to circle the milky way. If the earth is at least 4 billion years old, it is likely that if aliens had come across our planet before then their planet was a lot closer to our then it is now. Perhaps it just became too difficult to travel between the planets but it's also possible we are closing the gap again
