When the rainy season comes, there is no shortage of municipal water. Even with this drought water flowed, except for 17 hours one day.

When an area experiences fires and then heavy rains, there’s a danger of mudslides. If the dry season continues to be dry every year this could become an issue. The locals might also have to start doing preventative fire maintenance every year to prevent the large wild fires like the ones that we were having in California the past few years. Cutting grass, removing dead trees, doing maintenance on vegetation near your house, etc…
@buildingthephilippines
@buildingthephilippines 2 месяца назад
All good points, maintenance is very helpful. Hopefully, we get steady rain soon and we get our tropical look back.

Congratulations on the rain. Weather is always cyclical. Not so much in the tropics but it happens. Hopefully you won’t get flooded in the area as the ground can only absorb it so fast. I’ve heard it’s best to get local dogs rather than breeds from outside the Philippines. Just hard on them. 😊

Seems like you only need to add 1 more valve, if you reuse the one you have on that drain line. Like the ball valves better myself. Am guessing the goats in the area are gonna be happy after that rain..lol.. That rain was good for your neighbors build, it should help with compaction on their site. Thanks for the comment, the rain really didn't do anything. Terrain looks the same, rain just not long enough.
@ShikokuFoodForest
@ShikokuFoodForest 2 месяца назад
Good morning. The ongoing drought conditons is perhaps just the beginning of some desertification to come in some areas. I don’t know if it would ever happen in the tropics. The rain you show the following day is enough to make you cry, especially after no rain for 4 months. No water, no life. Here in Kochi, Japan, we had a very heavy rain event for 24 hours this week and some flooding. We’ve been having so much rain this spring that all the vegetation including weeds have been growing like crazy. Our rainy season should be starting about mid-June and end mid July or so.
@buildingthephilippines
@buildingthephilippines 2 месяца назад
Ours usually starts that time as well. Looking forward to it.
@ShikokuFoodForest
@ShikokuFoodForest 2 месяца назад
@@buildingthephilippines You sure must be. For the first time in many months, come mid-June or so you won’t need to water your garden. The trees and vegetation in Dauin will regrow. Many have perhaps died, but nature has a vast capacity for regeneration. The forests will regrow if allowed to. Just a side note: did you know top apex predators play a vital role and are actually critical for the earth’s capacity for self renewal? It’s all about balance. Take good care.

did you think of building a cistern to collect rainwater when you built your house?? when i move out, my partner and i think that is pretty essential and aim to inlcude that in our build.
@buildingthephilippines
@buildingthephilippines 2 месяца назад
No, did not consider one. When it rains and fills the cistern, we have plenty of water. During a drought there's no rain, so cistern would be empty. You also need to treat the water in the cistern and empty/clean it as mold builds up in it.
@andrewfoster4359
@andrewfoster4359 2 месяца назад

Global warming is the long-term warming of the planet's overall temperature. Though this warming trend has been going on for a long time, its pace has significantly increased in the last hundred years due to the burning of fossil fuels. As the human population has increased, so has the volume of fossil fuels burned.

The rain Greg and Wilma are missing is here in Lucban, Quezon Prov. We have been getting a whole lot of rain here. I am not looking for what is going on there with the dry spell, but I would appreciate a break long enough for workers to get the remaining footers, columns and structural support in place for our house build. Our footers had to be put 4 meters deep. Every day, they are draining these big holes. Fun, fun, fun. We will put in the prayers to shift a little of the rains from here your way Greg and Wilma

There's no water shortage, it's the 10,000 leaks from the cheap plastic lines just lying along side the roads. My pool uses 500 gallons a week. The leaks are easily 50,000 gallons a day (probably a lot more)
